I wanted Chinese for lunch today n saw that this place was very close to my job! So I went there uhh not normally a place I would go to! I said to myself I'm going to order something simple chicken wings and pork fried rice! Well in my mind This is something they can't screw up! Well they did! Got my lunch and headed back to work! I opened the box & there was like 5 pieces of shrimp (I don't eat shrimp) & questionable white pieces of meat in it! Can you imagine the cross contamination!! How bout if I was allergic to shrimp! The "JUMBO" 1. they whole chicken wings but they were smaller then regular 1. Piece Chicken wing! 2. chicken wings look like they precooked 4/5 days ago n recooked in dirty oil! I ended up tummy food out! If you go to this establishment please check your food! & those that have allergies to shell fish I would not recommend this place! Ive been to many chinese take outs and this one is among the top. I get a spciy pork fried rice with dark soy sauce so the rice is brown give it that extra flavor. Really recommend trying. Their bobba tea is good too! read more

Ordered online, which is the only reason I gave the one star. Ordered my food, and put in selection box for no mushrooms since I'm highly allergic. Also noticed the box that gave for allergies, which didn't have mushrooms listed but the box next to it allowed me to enter it there. (So that makes two times I put no mushrooms.) Get my food and, lo and behold, MUSHROOMS!!! Upon calling to let them know, I'm offered a remake after expressing more than twice I'm allergic to what they put in my food. The man even said "oh, I see it now" when inquiring why they didn't see it. Not even the twice I put it. read more

What can I say about Great Wall Express that hasn't been said about countless other takeout Chinese restaurants? It's cheap, it's fast, and it's a little bit sketchy; pretty much all you could ask for. Located in a small strip mall in North Charleston a few doors down from Money Man Pawn, you can take a guess about the socio-economic status of the surrounding area. That being said, the staff is always friendly, and even with a few removals/additions over the past four years they still continue to get it right. Great Wall Express is very close to my work so I can zip in and out very quickly, especially when I call in my order. The strip mall it is in is NOT the place to linger!! The lunch specials are $5.85 with fried rice and choice of soda or soup. These are served in a Styrofoam box that is packed to the lid. The "combination platters" come in a reusable microwavable rectangular plastic box (WONDERFUL for bringing a sandwich or leftovers to work) and you get fried rice, an egg roll and your choice of soda or soup for $7.35. The way I see it is, for $1.50 more than the "lunch" you get an egg roll AND a great container. About a month ago our family decided on Chinese for dinner, so I placed my order at noon to be ready at 3:00 pm so I could pick it up on my way home from work. We ordered several combination platters as well as a few other pints/quarts of other foods we wanted to try. Our total was $70, which is normal for a family of 6 - we've got big eaters! When I got there at 3:00, my order was ready, bagged up and piping hot. We chose a variety of beef, pork, chicken, shrimp and scallops dishes and all were perfect. We were very pleased with our choices...but after we ate our dinner, there was so much left over that my husband and I carried some to work every day for the next week! Haha, we know not to over order next time. They really, really give you your money's worth. I know I'll be back many times. This is a great Chinese carryout place! Warning, it can get VERY crowded at lunch time with construction workers, shipyard workers, and contractors so call in your order to save time waiting for yours to be made. read more

This is exactly like your generic American-Chinese restaurants. I got the classic general tso's and giving it three stars based on the taste of it compared to other restaurants similar to this. Really great hole in the wall take out Chinese place. Food is really good and very inexpensive with generous portions. I had the mongolian chicken lunch special today which was excellent. The lunch special is only $6.25 and includes fried rice and a drink. It's more than you can finish in one sitting and for less than $7.00!! Service is friendly and fast. Completely rude and unprofessional. I called on a Saturday night at 7:30pm. An overly annoyed gentleman answered the phone and took half of my order before asking me to hold. I waited there a minute... then two, three, four... Finally, the sound of chattering knives, inaudible shouting and aggressive metal clanking pierced my eardrum. It went on for a moment and then turned abruptly to a dial tone. They hung up. Not sure what Whitney Houston crack I was smoking when I thought it was a good idea calling to attempt to place that order, but I surely won't be making that mistake again.
