As far as I know, this is the only Chinese place that delivers to me without using one of the apps. And for that reason, we order it fairly often. My go to item has become the crispy honey chicken. Even though it'd been delivered in a container, it stays crispy and reheats perfectly in the air fryer when I have leftovers. I've been coming to Shuang Xi for years for dine in during lunch time. Their lunch price has increased now to $8.95 and now only comes with pork fried rice, but no soft drink like it used to. Their lunch menu has 25 different options to choose from, but my favorites are the Beef with Garlic Sauce, the Shrimp with Lobster Sauce, and the General Tso's Chicken. You order at the front where there is a large glass barrier with a microphone. Next to it is a self serve sauce and utensil station with hot mustard, soy sauce, hot sauce, ketchup, and duck sauce. The staff is friendly and the food is decent. Not bad. I get their lunch special sometimes with the soup and its approximately like $6 bucks (inexpensive). I usually get their chicken lunch special dishes, like General Tso's chicken or kung pao chicken with a hot and sour soup or egg drop soup instead of an egg roll. Just a warning here that Shuang Xi is extremely irresponsible when it comes to personal banking info so this is more about common sense and terrible practices, which I'm sure would relate to other corners being cut, but I want to make sure this is out there for the consumer. What's the alarming thing is that the driver got to my door with a food slip that included my name, telephone number, home address and MY FULL CREDIT CARD NUMBER AND EXPIRATION in plain text. He said they've been doing this for 7 years and "nothing bad's happened yet". Let me repeat, they've been giving the lowest paid person and god knows who else access to every person's personal banking info that pays with a credit card... for 7 years?!? I was outraged and while I can't expect a delivery driver for a chinese restaurant to understand why this is wrong, I did explain that I'll be filing a complaint with the BBB and seeing if some sort of PCI compliance check can be done... if nothing else than to protect their customers from themselves. However, about 10-15 minutes later, we had a knock on the door with our food. I give 4 stars for the speed with which we received our food. It was EXTREMELY fast. Unfortunately, the food itself wasn't quite up to what we expected from the various reviews. The vegetable fried rice was, sadly, nearly flavorless. Additionally, I ordered Szechuan chicken. I also ordered chicken with Chinese vegetables. I honestly couldn't tell which was which once the dishes came. For this, I deduct two stars. While the General Tso chicken was decent, the unfortunate fact is, I've had better Chinese food in Peru. This a small Chinese food rest. I ordered food to feed our family of 4. It was very good and fresh. Never tried delivery. We ate in the store and the table was a bit sticky. The sweet tea was diabetic tea. It was so sweet. Maybe my taste buds was shocked with sweetness. We would visit this place again. They're professional at the counter and they've never gotten any of our orders wrong. The other day when we went we weren't given any fortune cookies though... I need my fortune... I need answers! But anyway, I always get general tsos combo which comes with fried rice and an egg roll. Nick branched out and got pork and veggies and it was delicious! Love this place. It is standard Chinese take-out, but for some reason it is much better than most places, especially in North Charleston. I usually get the Pork Chow Mei Fun. At other restaurants this dish can be really greasy, but here is is very clean tasting, not overly oily. The interior is very bright and clean, with nice tables, but not very large. The other dishes they do really well are the Hunan Chicken, Sesame chicken and General Tso's. The chicken is really nicely battered and crispy, not soggy when dressed in the sauces. The ladys have always been nice and have never screwed up our order. Living with someone who has a severe fish allergy, I wish they would list on their menu the possible cross-contamination of allergens while cooking - including the oil they use for those with peanut allergies. The. Worst. Chinese.Food.Restaurant.Ever. I don't have the words to describe my experience there other than bad food, bad experience, and some of the rudest people I've ever dealt with in a restaurant. In a nutshell: I walked in, said hello, and was greeted with a series of scowls and grunts. I ordered my food to go, asked for soy sauce, and was rudely told the packets were right in front of me. Since I have fairly decent eyesight and was looking at nothing but a blank counter, I asked again, and was rudely scolded for repeating my question. When I asked the woman to show me the invisible packets, she looked at the blank counter and started screaming at someone (I'm assuming because there were no packets there). Then several men who worked in the back started yelling and screaming angrily at each other. This went on for a while, and I thought for a few uncomfortable moments that someone might actually get hurt. I left quickly. I tried to end things on a polite note by saying thank you and good bye. They responded with glares and anger. I guess asking for soy sauce was not the correct thing to do there. The food was no better than the service. Barely edible is a generous description. My to-go food ended up in the trash. With so many other restaurants within a few blocks, go elsewhere. read more

Kitchen looked dirty, years of grease slime on surfaces and walls/cameras, but somehow received an A health code rating despite that.
