This is probably the healthiest Chinese food I've ever experienced away from NYC, and was pretty shocked by it. The inside isn't the most impressive thing I've ever seen, but the staff is extremely nice and cooked the broccoli extra soft for my 2 year old chicken and broccoli loving son. Although the accompanied pork fried rice had little to no POW flavor, it wasn't greasy and it wasn't terrible. I tasted ginger! The chicken was all white meat, and there was a decent ratio of it in comparison to the chicken. Hit and miss, some days its great and some days its terrible. Recently I ordered Beef Broccoli soaked in OIL - YUK! This is one of the most basic take out on the menu and they screwed it up and so lacking of flavor. I used to manage Danny's Szechuan in Howard Beach, NY and their Beef Broccoli was to die for. If you want good, solid Chinese food, then come here, they use fresh ingredients and good tasting sauce. Their Genn Tso's is good chunks of chicken with light breading, unlike other places with all breading and a morsel of chicken. Not as spicy as I'd like but can always ask for more spiciness. Walked into the Great Wall and ordered up front at lunch time. Sat down with a co-worker and he immediately noticed how filthy the walls and floor were. The table was also sticky. There are 2 fish tanks that are in need of cleaning. The cook brought our drinks out, a can of soda for me, and a hot tea for my co-worker in a plastic cup that could've used an upgrade as it looked very used. We received our food. I got the sashimi box and the plate was disgusting. Had a build up of grease all over it. On top of all of this, some of the sashimi was extremely fishy and I couldn't even finish it. Somewhat of a find in an area of the Poconos with so many mediocre Asian & Chinese restaurants. Hard to say what COVID-19 has done to restaurants in general and Chinese restaurants in particular. As with any cuisine, attention to detail and consistency of preparation is key to a being considered a good restaurant. This one is despite the challenges of the pandemic although this Main Street business is already setup for "take out" because of the storefront... Now for the food. This is the only Chinese restaurant in the area that serves Scallion Pancakes - a seemingly simple item but done right is a delightful and tasty appetizer. As I've only had a chance to sample a couple of dinner menu items I give the Great Wall Restaurant the benefit of the doubt for the ones I haven't tried because of the ones I've had and the fact that they make Scallion Pancakes. Also because there are so few good restaurants in this Mt. Pocono area. Some Details: Egg Rolls need work. Spring Rolls are fair. Basic Fried Rice is very good. Dumpling sauce has too much rice vinegar for my taste (so I added some soy sauce to it and it was fine.) The Sweet & Sour Chicken was very good. The chicken was nicely done in a light batter similar to tempura and the sauce is done right... The Chicken Egg Foo Young is my favorite thus far. The omelets are perfect but in my opinion the sauce served with it is a bit on the bland side and could be done better. Lastly the Chinese Vegetables are very good. Service is good when the restaurant is attended by a person with a good command of English and a bit challenging when it's not - a typical problem with most Chinese Restaurants. read more

I was staying a few blocks away in a hotel and needed something to eat at 10:30 in the evening. The hotel staff said that this place would be open and easy for me to find since I was unfamiliar with the area. They said that there was a better place but that I might get lost, so this was a sure bet. I ordered sesame chicken and a scallion pancake. The sesame chicken was just ok. I have definitely had better. But the scallion pancake was TERRIBLE. My son didn't even eat it and he's a human garbage disposal. It was extremely oily as if when they fried it the oil wasn't hot enough. That's the only reason I could come up with for why it would be so soggy. What a shame. The food was great tonight! Pretty low prices. Super fresh and delicious. There are tons of yummy vegetables and perfectly cooked jumbo shrimp in the shrimp with garlic sauce. Not pictured are the delicious egg rolls and sesame balls. We would definitely visit again. read more

Visited this quaint little restaurant for the first time and was extremely satisfied. We ordered 2 house special sushi rolls which took about 30 minutes for her to make, which is understandable since sushi takes a while to perfect. And she really did perfect them. Best sushi I've had in a long time. It was delicious and satisfying and I'm almost never satisfied when I eat sushi but for the first time in a while I was. This restaurant is about 30-40 minutes away from home for me but I'll definitely come back just to eat here again. read more

Just moved here in Dec. 2013. Have tried plenty of there sushi! And the Pocono Roll is my favorite!! Their rices are good, the soups are good , my hubby likes the sesame chicken! I had the crab Rangoon and it's ok. I'm from NYC area, who isn't around here. Lol. Although it's def not the city. It's not bad for here... They are nice but dont deliver.. I can say maybe the best food away from China Town NYC. Would recommend the Broccoli Shrimps, Singapore noodles and ribs. They have a 28 dollar deal that gives you one General Tso, Chicken free. This place has terrible service, I called for pick up for one thing, they said 15minutes. I showed up in 15minutes and they weren't ready there was one other person in the restaurant and they just ordered. I was told it was almost ready and saw them starting to make it. This happens a lot I don't recommend this place, I only go because my wife likes there soup. Food is ok not great pretty average for Chinese but they need to work on there service. Very dirty, I went with my family to eat and the owner were yelling in Chinese at each other, we ordered a lot of food but to start with the wonton soup when it came out the wontons were yellow, the waiter told me that they're steamed but on touch the wontons were hard like pizza crust and I told him I ate a lot of wonton soup and I never seen them yellow and hard, they bring out the utensils and they were greasy like they were never washed. The biggest problem I had was that they never brought exactly what you ordered and if you ordered over $45.00 of food you get a free general TSO's chicken and they never gave it to us. My overall experience was horrible and we ordered or ate there at least 3 to four time a month, never again unless you like that type of service. read more

We just ordered a take out delivery from this place. Ordered stir fried squid, beef garlic sauce n seafood fried rice. I have never eaten such a bad preparation. Stir fried means no liquid. Theirs was in a sweet sauce covered. Then the beef had the exact same sauce!!! Sweet sauce. Basically their cooking was steamed n added the same sauce. The fried rice rice was sticky rice. We ended up throwing everything we ordered. The front lady was so busy playing on her phone. Called her n she was extremely rude. I have no idea who wrote other reviews def not someone who tasted good cooking. I really hope YELP has validates such entries. Lost all the money n the time. Ordered lunch. I found 3 hairs in my chicken and broccoli, the lo mein was incredibly bland, and the rice was hard. I was so upset because I spent over 30 dollars and I couldn't even eat it. The only good thing was the general tsos chicken (the parts that weren't overfried and completely inedible). Overall I was not happy with my meal, and neither was my boyfriend. Favorite Chinese restaurant in business. It's family operated and the service is friendly. Divinely recommend their egg rolls, General Tsao chicken, and also their Kung Pao chicken. Orders can occasionally take long if their busy, but I've never had a bad meal. read more
