I Always paid him on time and never gave him a reason to get upset. Since then, he has been harassing my tenants and me, threatening to call the city inspector to come to my buildings, sending my tenants ideas how they can sue me trying to force a Tennent to go on a date with him for smoke and drink in a very aggressive way, and many more... He seems to be very desperate for work and claimed that no one wants to hire him and kept asking me for more work, and when I said, I'm not willing to work with him, he get upset and start threatening again. I would stay away from this guy and will never let him in my house or any of my properties. I also filed a police report against him and restriction order together with a few of my tenants that has been harassed I attached a few screenshots to show the type of service you will be dealing with working with this company. Started out good as they came out fast for a quote. Since the other companies I contacted either…read moredid not callback or said it would be 2 months just to come give a quote, they got the job. Did the work but I give them a B- for quality. Could not paint because it started snowing. Within a few weeks a board came loose, and it took several calls to get them to come back and fix it. Spring came and they never returned to paint. After several calls and discussions about what "Paint as needed" written on the contract means. Today they came back to paint. They only painted the boards they replaced not the whole thing. It looks poorly. If you use them make sure you have everything they are to do spelled out in the contract. I will not be using their services again.

David, the owner, seems like a nice guy, and he did a good job replacing the tiles on my bathroom floor, and he (mostly his assistant) did a lot of painting, which on the whole looks good. But see below... The big issues were what I discovered after he was finished and had left: fresh paint stains in multiple areas, including the wood floor of my 19th century house and even furniture - which I cleaned up. Splattered paint near the ceiling of my kitchen which still, three months later, has not been patched, paint stains on my oriental rug, a major purchase 40 years ago, etc. David said he would pay for the rug damage, and I only asked for 50% of the very reasonable $175 cleaning cost. David told me to bill him via Zelle, something I said I'm not sure how to do. He already has my Zelle information, since that's how I paid him for the work. But after messaging him and emailing several times, he has not responded. And I still have paint streaks on the wall and an unpaid bill. So I can't recommend Handy Gentlemen. I think part of the problem is that David is under-manned and a bit overwhelmed, but not responding to my messages is unprofessional.

Originally I had planned to go through Home Depot for purchasing & installation but was having a bad experience and decided to cancel the HD installers and hire locally and I am so glad I did! David took the time and care to prepare my subfloors with new plywood and secure it to reduce a lot of those squeaks. He advised on what would look nice for new baseboards and the final floors look beautiful, a major improvement over the old carpet! Will likely hire David the Handy Gentleman for future projects.

David made it look a million times better after he was done. The job took two days, where he repaired the ceiling, then painted it. Very efficient, good pricing and all around good guy.

I had called multiple roofers because I was having an issue with water leaking into my living room…read more None of them though could give me a definitive answer as to what was causing the issue and would therefore not perform any guaranteed work to fix the issue. I asked all the roofers if they wanted to cut into the ceiling but all insisted 'we work from the top down, not the bottom up'. I contacted Wall Eye to see if they would cut into my ceiling so I could perform an investigation into the issue myself. When David came by I got A LOT more than I expected. He not only did a great job of making a clean cut into my ceiling, he then took the time to take a look at the damage inside the ceiling, go outside to take a look at what was above the leak, and go upstairs to take a look at the window/roof above the leak. Before he left he told me 'I'm not a roofer but if I was to bet, your issue lies either with the seal around your window or the portion of your roof right above it". After David left I contacted another roofing company to come by and give their opinion of the issue (now being able to see inside the ceiling) and they stated they believed the issue was the EXACT same thing David did. The roofing company said they were so sure that this was the issue (based on being able to see inside the ceiling) that they were now able to guarantee the work that was done. The roofers have since completed their work and I have not the issue since. I am sure there are dozens if not more drywall contractors out there who can cut a hole or patch a hole - thankfully I was able to find one though who went completely above and beyond what was requested and/or required - David is a true 'class act' who I will never hesitate to call for any drywall work I need done in the future.

This is a story of a leaky shower. After literally years of hiring various well regarded plumbers…read moreand handymen to try to remedy it, it always leaked again - usually in less than a year. When mold showed through the ceiling of the room below the shower and the mold remediation contractor cut through the ceiling it was clear we needed to consider replacing the shower and much of the subfloor. Serious perusing of reviews on yelp led me to JRW. Just one phone call made me hopeful. First they re- grouted the shower pan/wall connection so it could be used until they had an opening in their schedule a few weeks away to replace the shower. Finally the big day came. Joel (the owner) sent me photos (it was a tenant occupied home) everyday and explained every step of the way what needed to be done and how much it would cost. He respected my decisions. He also picked out materials subject to my approval - and I always said yes because his choices were excellent as well as in budget. I had been concerned of the impact of a big project with workers in and out every day for a week or so on the tenants. I needn't have worried, the day after it was complete the tenant emailed me unsolicited and said that the workers did a great job: excellent workmanship, seemed trustworthy, respectful of the tenants and house, cleaned up everything and though they hope no more issues arise, they said if workers are ever needed there again they would hope it's the crew from JRW. Two small issues arose unrelated to this project (sticky door and gutter issue) and Joel took care of them for a minor charge. Most mom and pop landlords will tell you- the dreaded call from a tenant that something is broken causes you a few minutes of angst trying to figure out who to call to get it fixed. Now that I know about JRW, I won't feel that worry anymore.
