    Oven Lemon Potatoes Meatball Platter
    Steph C.

When in the mood for Greek this place has been hitting the spot. I love when a place offers Moussaka because theres more to Greek food that gyros. My favorite the chicken lemon soup. Hits the spot everytime! I opted for spicy feta side. But it wasnt too spicy. My husband ordered the gyro platter ans was too full to eat his salad! The baklava was okay i was expecting it to have more syrupy consistency. We ordered online and did pickup. Everything was ready when it was expected for pickup. Everything was hot and accurate. I just wish the moussaka didnt have burned edges

    Dining area...seats about 10 ppl

If not for a Groupon, I wouldn't even know this place existed. Apparently, there are several locations. This is a small, fast casual restaurant (can seat about 10 ppl). Counter service; no waiter service. They have all the basics: Gyros, Souvlaki, Salads, Dips/Spreads, etc. Something for everyone! Is it the Best Greek food I've ever had?...No, definitely not, but a great option if you're looking for a quick, casual meal. They even have $13.95 lunch specials Mon to Fri; 11-4pm. Items we've tried: - Greek Salad ($14.95/Large): fresh n tasty; ask for dressing on the side. Comes with warm Pita bread. - Gyro meat ($6 add-on): we added it to our Greek salad. It was tasty but it didn't include any Tzatziki Sauce. Had we known, we would have ordered some. - Pork Souvlaki platter w.lemon potatoes, chicken lemon rice soup, pita bread and Tzatziki Sauce ($20.95): this platter was huge and delicious. It came with 3 delicious skewers of pork. The soup and lemon potatoes were great! And the warm pita really hit the spot. Recommended if you're looking for a quick, casual meal. Lots of construction going on in the plaza that this restaurant is located in, but it was an easy in and out. Customer service was fantastic! Both times we went, the young ladies at the register were very patient, friendly and efficient.

Had a great dinner here with my family. The young man at the counter was very nice as we ordered. They pack everything to go which I think is a little weird when we planned to eat in. But at least it was easy to bring everything home since we couldn't finish the large portions. It's small because they're counting on people carrying out. But it's brought and nice with a few tables. The gyro meat is delicious! I had a pork souvlaki platter and it was so good. Very good for the money. I enjoyed two of the three skewers, rice, and pita. I was so full I didn't even start the soup. We'll definitely be back!

This is still one of my favorite places to get Greek food! We usually get it delivered but today we decided to order and pick up in store. The store is so nice and clean, with about 10 seats for indoor dining. Throughout the time that we were there, there's a steady stream of delivery and pick ups, so you know the neighborhood loves it!

When you're a business traveler or managing a busy life style, you probably consider yourself a (fast) foodie. But when you are attempting to improve your diet and it seems the only option on the road trip or a busy week is a burger or starvation, what other choices are there? Greek Xpress is a perfect alternative instead of the fast food burger joints and has been my favorite stop when I have been on the run or too busy to cook a nutritious meal. Greek food is unassuming, vibrant and exceptionally nutritious. Greek food is considered to be heart healthy because their dishes work with herbs, olive oil, fish, grain, vegetables and lean meats. Oh, and of course especially Lemon! Some of my favorite dishes include Pastitsio, Moussaka, Spanakopita, and Souvlaki. At Greek Xpress, one could capture the wonderful flavors of Greece in a "fast food" concept, while gaining the essence of true Greek Mediterranean dining. Gyro pork and chicken souvlaki, Greek salads, or grilled Octopus are just a few of my favorites at Greek Xpress. But there is always room for Greek deserts. How can you resist Baklava or Galaktoboureko? I cannot.

Got the chicken pita lunch special. They provide a lot of chicken, onions, tomatoes, and fries with the special. Food came out quick and staff was helpful. Good quick greek food. Comfy seats there too.

    Seriously undercooked salmon.

Asked for a Greek salad with a well done Salmon add on to go. Go home and the Salmon was raw inside. Disgusting, had to go back and ask for my money back. Never going back. And the Manager had some nasty thing coming out of his nose.

Typical Greek food that can be found in Astoria 1/2 price. Too expensive for processed way too salty mystery gyro meat.

The new hostess and the greeting by Phillipe could not have made us feel any more welcome. We were offered a choice of seating and while we love the look and feel of the back patio it was a bit too cool and breezy out there.... We decided to sit in the front room as it is generally quieter and more low key. There were many larger groups with celebrations and you could see they were all having a good time. Our waiter Luis, came and introduced himself, brought our menus and inquired about water, drinks, etc. We told him we wanted only pumpernickel rolls: they are warm, fresh out of the oven and truly addictive. Our waters and my white Zinfandel arrived shortly thereafter. Our fresh goat cheese salad arrived with the raspberry vinaigrette and as always it was carefully divided. Luis came to check on everything as he and other staff members ( both members who we know through dining here repeatedly over the years) and new additions. Everyone always treats you like family. Very good pacing of the meal.... Nice and leisurely, not rushed but no long breaks between courses. Then our main dishes arrived. My husband had the pappardelle with mixed seafood, no sausage- plentiful and loaded with flavor. I get the shrimp a La Rodos.... 5 very nice sized shrimp with with lots of diced fresh tomatoes and feta cheese, served with my 2 favorite side dishes- mashed potatoes and beets.... All YUMMY and very generous portions. My husband's Stella Artois arrives in a nice cold glass with the main dish, as requested. Luis again checks on everything and then shortly thereafter we get the surprise of the evening. Peter, the new owner stops by and chats with us. It was a pleasure to meet him: we are sure he is very busy running back and forth between his two restaurants. and making sure that everything is going smoothly. We had a lot to talk about. Well, he has a tough act to follow but so far the food, service and hospitality are still 5 star !!! We ended our meal on a high note. A FABULOUS meal has to end on a sweet note. We were offered about 5 or 6 dessert choices. We selected the chocolate mousse cake. A rich, creamy sweet conclusion to a superb meal served by a warm, caring staff. Everyone including Luis, Felipe and the new hostess gave us a fond Farewell on the way out. We eagerly look forward to returning after their vacation at the beginning of August !! Congratulations, Peter, Phillipe and staff !

While waiting at the bar for a friend to arrive, I was swarmed by fruit flies, which should have been my first warning sign. The pours at the bar were skimpy, but I tried to shake it off once we got our table. The service there was actually friendly, and our server proudly told us the duck was a top seller, so we ordered it along with a salad and a fish dish. Most of what came out of the kitchen was diner quality at best--nothing special, but not offensive. The duck, however, was a disaster. It tasted old and stale, like it had been sitting in a freezer for months before being rushed through a fryer. The meat was fried to a dry, brittle crisp, and the only flavor came from a cloying sweet duck sauce slapped on top. No richness, no tenderness, no redeeming qualities. We absolutely hated our meal and the entire time we spent there. I can't recommend this place to anyone who actually cares about what they eat.

It would not be considered fine dining from an ambiance point of view but it's cozy since it's a family run business. They do a lot of take out but there are tables to dine in should you choose. And, the menu is extensive with one dish more mouth-watering than the next. Once settled in, we started our evening with octopus and hummus. The hummus is different than I ever had before, yellow in color but so tasty and creamy. The octopus was grilled perfectly. For entrees, we had pasticcio, lamb chops and a falafel sandwich. Entrees were large, served hot and delicious. The lamb chops were incredible. Don't sleep on any of these dishes, if they are available to order. Last but not least, get the cheesecake and carrot cake. Better than most bakeries around!! Service: Our waitor Yanni was great. He was attentive, and chatty. The dumpling dough were similar in flavor and texture to pelmeni but were flatter like ravioli. They were smothered in sauce. Samosas were thin and crispy. I preferred the manto, but both are good picks depending on what you're looking for. For kebabs, I tried the lamb, ground beef, and chicken. One of the mixed plates also came with a lamb shank. All of the meat was well seasoned and flavorful. Most pieces were juicy. I wouldn't have categorized any bites as dry, but some bites were juicier than others. The entrees were platted over basmati rice with carrots and raisins. They came with a white sauce, a green sauce, and a red sauce. Green and red sauce were mildly spicy. On yelp, there were no inside pictures, so I wasn't entirely prepared. I see lots of take out, and indeed it looks like there is plenty of it as there is a take out counter and a few people were walking in/out during our meal. The entire rest of the place looked like a small wedding and party venue. I wouldn't call it sparkling clean, however. Many things were crossed out on the menu with a sharpie "X". Quail, Chicken Biryani, just to name a few. No matter, we were quite happy with two different kebabs and the distinct afgani rice. The food was overall good, I found the lamb a little sweet, but it wasn't fatty. The chicken was certainly the better meat. The fresh sauces provided on the side were tasty and helpful after the generous portion of rice started getting repetitive. I also enjoyed the full pot of black tea with cardamom. One person working alone filling orders and waiting our table meant it was one of the longest meals I've hard in a while. He was kind, and was indeed working hard.... but that didn't make up for the flies. Dear lord, the flies. The bug zapper was a constant interruption in the background of our conversation. Dead flies were scattered on the windowsill and a half alive fly squirmed by my foot. While eating, I examined every raisin as carefully as a gemologist inspects a diamond.. because you never know. My overall rating would have probably been higher if I didn't eat in. Your mileage may vary.
