I'll start by saying I think had I gotten a different dish I would feel differently about this place. Got to-go here for a group of us. I'll start by saying that aesthetically, everything looks amazing and the portions are huge. The menu is interesting. There wasn't SO much that I wanted (a strange amount of Panko-breaded options) but ultimately settled on the Pegasus wrap (which I see now isn't even on the menu on the website but is orderable?). It's essentially a lamb gyro wrap with French fries, onions, and spicy feta sauce. The lamb gyro I felt was a bit lacking in both seasoning and amount. I'll never really support raw onions in a dish, so that was a bummer. But what I think really ruined this wrap for me was the spicy feta sauce. I'm not totally sure the thought process behind this choice, but it doesn't work for this combination of ingredients. And I can handle spicy pretty well but this was really quite spicy. I would have much preferred a normal feta/tzatziki combo. And the French fries in every wrap/sandwich is a choice and kind of overpowered the other ingredients. That being said, I would consider going back for something else on the menu because the prices (especially for the portion) is nice. read more

The wait is always ridiculously long, especially for orders placed through third-party apps like UberEats. All they have to do to solve this problem is extend the preparation time for orders on those apps, so people don't show up 25 minutes too early. I'm giving this 2 stars because I think the lamb gyro meat is very good. Other than that I don't understand how it gets good reviews. We've been there 3-4 times over the years, for different reasons and have never had a good experience. This last time my daughter wanted to go Greek and we live very close, so we went. It was pleasant out but we walked in the door and it was like being in an oven. We soon decided to take the food home. I went outside to wait while my daughter waited inside for the food. I wanted a large Greek salad, no cucumber, no grape leaves, I got a salad, lettuce, tomatoes, no onions, no feta, and very little gyro meat. The Greek Place has some pretty reliable food at reasonable prices. I can't say it was amazing, but I wouldn't mind going back again and would give it 3.5 stars. I had the spanakopita and the spinach feta poppers. Both were good but the latter was definitely better than the former. When I went here yearssssss ago it was so good! After moving back to the area I thought I'd try it out again, what a mistake! Not only did I have to wait over an hour for my food after I got there to pick it up, it was COMPLETELY burned. When I got home and opened up our food, it was literally inedible. This Greek spot is pretty good. The service is quick and the prices are decent. They have a ton of different things on their menu on top of the traditional pita sandwiches and platters. They also offer a huge variety of sandwiches and even wraps. I enjoy ordering from here because each platter comes with salad, pita and choice of side (rice, french friends, lemon potatoes, or broccoli). Most of those sides are common options but I've never seen a Greek spot offer broccoli as a side (which I chose but it was just okay, a bit soggy). Their salads always taste fresh and the pita was one of the better ones that I've had. It was soft and fluffy, perfect for making your own wrap with. I typically go with gyro, which never disappoints, but I've also tried their chicken souvlaki and grilled chicken. The grilled chicken is more on the bland side. I also tried the spinach feta (side option) which was odd. It was more of a pancake, a bit doughy, but not bad. Not exactly sure how I feel about it but I finished it anyway! Their tzatziki sauce is also very garlicky but always a great pairing with Greek food. Check them out if you want a simple platter or even a sandwich! This tiny place is located at the corner of a busy road but has a lot to offer. A big downside is that parking is almost nonexistent because you have to park in the neighborhood since they dont have a parking lot. The cashier by the name of Cassandra was very social and helpful. Not sure if there is a bathroom in the back that they will let you use but there was none in the seating area. I order lunch from The Greek Place all the time and they've never let me down. My go to hero is the Artemis hero. It's got crispy chicken, bacon, feta, cheddar, fried onion straws and chipotle barbecue sauce. So. Good. And they're super generous with the toppings. I'm obsessed with their garlic parm pita chips and spinach feta dip (can serve 2-3 people). I've also gotten their Avgolemono soup which has been a hit or miss for me sometimes but when it hits, it HITS. They're also very reasonably priced. TLDR: Pro: The food. Sandwiches are huge, the spicy feta is sooo good, the pita chips are also worth a try, but maybe not the buffalo one.  Con: The service and delivery time. I've gotten The Greek Place twice at work, and both times I got the Apollo sandwich because it was that good. The sandwich, mainly the spicy feta, is so good I had to get it again. The sandwich is huge, so I only end up eating half a sandwich per meal. The only criticism I have is that because of the fried onions it does get heavy/oily. I considered getting the Hades (which I think is basically the Apollo without the onions) but last minute changed my mind. I probably will try the Hades the next time though. My coworkers and I also got the buffalo pita chips and the bbq pita chips to share.The buffalo pita chips were disappointing. There wasn't really any sauce, and ended up being really good pita chips but bland and flavorless. The bbq chips were almost over sauced in comparison but was easily the crowd favorite. The best thing about the pita chips are, instead of being thin and crackery, they are these thick slices of pita so it's crisp and chewy at the same time (in a good way).  The reason this is a 3-star review though, is because the first time we ordered, the service was so bad I had to dock a star. The order was for 4-6 people and it took nearly 3 hrs to get our food, even though we were originally told it would be an hour. Everytime we called someone unapologetically said it would take 30-45 minutes and we kept giving them the benefit of the doubt and waited. They also never had the courtesy to call us to let us know, even as a heads-up that there might be a delay in our food, let alone an additional 2 hour wait. We ended up fuming mad by the end and called to cancel the order when the delivery person arrived, who was really apologetic about the wait, and at that point we had waited so long it didn't make sense to abandon the order. read more

Out of the following: Helios, Hercules, Apollo, Artemis, Athena I personally love the Apollo and Helios the most. I don't really like gyro meat in the Helios but those french fries and onions are super good. Chicken is my choice of meat 99% of the time so the panko chicken is great. Lightly battered and the fried onion straws in the Apollo give the sandwich some texture. This re-review is way overdue! I love the Greek Place! Order from here weekly for lunch. Food is always 5 stars! Always fresh, absolutely no complains about the food. Delivery can be somewhat of a wait. Some days we'd wait over an hour for food to be delivered. They've been improving this aspect. Another thing is they can forget things sometimes, utensils...condiments...extra tz sauce (which u paid for). I understand we forget things, make mistakes sometimes...we're only human! I'm not in search of a big sandwich with french fries. I'm looking for good Avgolemeno (It's Greek Chicken Soup with a Egg-Lemon Sauce) I walk in and it's a small restaurant. If you're bringing a bunch of buddies to eat here, you'll bringing back lunch to the office. There isn't enough seating. I ask about the Avgolemeno. The owner comes over and tells me he lets the soup slowly cook to release the natural starches. Hmm.. that sounds like a mighty good method. I order a Greek salad topped with gyro meat, a cup of Avgolemeno and something called Baklava pita chips?! First the soup, Mmmm.. Its thick and lemony. Something like my grandmother would make. Mmm mm. Next Greek salad. I want to be good, I ordered a salad! But then comes the salad topped with yummy Gyro meat and that makes a salad a super salad. I was eating the gyro meat trying to get to the salad. it was just topped with Greek deliciousness. Finally the baklava pita chips. Holy Moley! These chips are something you can't put down, they were soon good! I had a buddy with me and we were eating these chips like two drunk sailors on leave. The chips left us slap happy. And we didn't finish! I brought home the chips and my wife was also giddy. Trust me, they're that good. The owner came around and we started BSing. This place deserves 5 stars just based off of Pete the chefs attitude, and the atmosphere of the place. It is not an overly large place, can sit about 10-12 people, and you can tell they do a lot of delivery service. Came here for lunch with my sister as we were in the area for something. Took a look at the menu, and I have to say, there are some interesting combinations for heros/platters/meals, but not in a bad way, in a creative way. We ordered the garlic parmesan pita chips, I ordered the Hercules (slice gyro, diced fries, romaine, tomato, onion, melted mozzarella, and tzatziki) on a hero, and my sister got the Medusa (lamb gyro on warm pita with sauerkraut, melted swiss, and russian dressing). Unnecessarily I added the soda and side for $3, and got the greek salad as the side. First off, i'm generally a big eater, and I 'could' have finished everything, and when I read on here that the portions are big, I never believe them, it's normal people who think they're big, for me, wow, these portions were perfect. And what's even better is the price, perfect pricing. Onto the food. The pita chips were delicious, I expected a small fry basket worth, nope, a large fry basket worth, there are a lot for the $4. My Hercules was really good too, and the Medusa, the twist on a reuben was surprisingly good. The salad was a little lackluster, but it does not hurt the review. When getting the food from the chef, who we ended up speaking to before we left, he outright says, "hope you two are hungry". I brought the food over to the table, and my sister went, "um, we ordered a lot...". She's right, we did, but it was worth it. If we needed more dressing or tzatziki, not a problem, 5 seconds, got it. We ended up taking half the food home, and while Pete was packing our food up, we talked to him for about 5-10 minutes. Pete is a world class guy, and even though not all the food was perfect, it was realllllllly good though, this place deserves a 5 solely based on him. You can tell they have a lot of loyal customers as they were talking to a few people who came in and out by their first name. And a lady who had never been there and wanted half-and-half, Pete said he would go buy some for her because she said she'd be back to eat. I got take out from here and the food was exceptional. I ordered a Greek Salad (w/ grilled chicken) with pita on the side and lemon potatoes. It may be a simple order but each item was so fresh and delicious. The veggies in the salad were perfectly crunchy and the chicken was tasty. I got plain pita on the side and somehow it was the best pita I've ever had. It had a nice little toasty flavor with perfect texture. If you're visiting a loved one at North Shore University hospital in Manhasset and don't want to settle for the sub par cafeteria food, this place is only a short drive away. Solid (Long Island award winning apparently) Greek joint that serves up delicious food. The classic lamb gyro order is fresh, huge and delicious. Wifey's chicken gyro platter was even more surprising in flavor and taste. The thinly sliced chicken was worth every penny. Get the lemon potatoes with your platter order, it just has the right kick of lemon and wasn't too overpowering. Checked in on Yelp for my free order of fries!
