I called to see if they had any open reservations today (Mother's Day) and they said yes. We had no problems getting seated. We had already looked on the menu online and knew what we wanted to order. However, they gave us a pre-fix menu and stated that we could only order from the Mother's Day menu. It was 1 appetizer, 1 entree, soda or tea for $55 per person. If you look at the regular menu prices, this exceeds what it cost for 1 entree and 1 appetizer. We got the cheese rolls, liver, & mixed appetizer which were all shareable portions. After we were done with appetizers, it took over an hour to get our entrees. The waiter checked in and it seemed that he never gave the kitchen our orders or completely forgot about them because the food was luke warm. We got the lamb chops, chicken shish, & branzino. The chicken and tender and juicy. The branzino was light and flaky. Everything was well seasoned and the rice & salad were also tasty. The lamb chops were over cooked and a bit dry. Overall, I would say don't come here on a day you know will be busy. You may not get to order the dishes you want, experience poor service, and deal with an overpriced menu. For $55, they should have included a baklava for dessert or something. read more

I am extremely disappointed. The last 2 times I order the kunafe from them. Both tickets it was soggy and not tasty. I dont know if they changed their staff or chef but everything is a mess with orders now. I ordered the lamb chops with Shepard salad but didnt receive the salad- They charge $3 for that salad yet sent the wrong one. I have to find a new place now. We were excited to go here for our anniversary just to receive terrible service. No one came to the table to check on us, we got a platter for two and we started eating it just to realize it comes with rice and we never got it until we spoke up and said something and we were already done eating. The service was terrible I can't repeat that enough. The ambiance was just rude, Idk if it's because we were a LGBTQ couple or what but I didn't appreciate that. Also we had to basically beg for the check from the bust boy because no one came over. And when we did get the check they want to charge for a large bottle of water that we didn't even touch. Serdar, you gave me a big bottle of Poland Spring water without asking me and charged me for it.( photo of bill). Serdar and the other gentleman with a beard and a pouty face - you did not stop by and ask me once if all was good. In fact you had your back turned towards me most of the 23 minutes I was there. Serdar - I speak fluent Turkish and I did love when the family of 10 that spoke Arabic( which I am also fluent in) came in and you perked up. They got your full attention and also were offered soup( lentil or the chicken options). Not used to this lack of hospitality - spent a few months and dozens of visits for work all over Turkey. Not typical. Never had this attitude prior. Ordered take out from here. Food portions are small. Came with salad. Food tasted "cleaner" and less oily than other Mediterranean spots that I've tried but I felt like it was lacking in flavor. Parking is a hit or miss on the side street. Very cute little restaurant. Service wasn't great. After we got seated , a bottle water was just placed on the table, very weird. Was offered wine after. we ordered food and not once did someone come back to ask if we needed anything more. The restaurant wasn't even busy either, there was just one other party next to us. First, let's talk about the authenticity of this Mediterranean cuisine - chefs kiss! Even from the moment I walked in - the decor brought me to a whole other world! The service was more than amicable and attentive; it felt like family. Only thing I'm really sad about is that we were SO stuffed (and all took doggy bags home) that we didn't have room for dessert! I kept saying, "we have to save room for baklava!" Only gives me an excuse to go back soon They did however give us complimentary watermelon. Overall, we had such an amazing time; 8 of us. NEVER EVER AGAIN!!! As soon as we sat down we were brought a bottle of water. We refused it and asked for tap only to be told they don't give tap water. The bottle was left on the table but we never opened it. The bill arrived with the charge for the water and an expectation that we pay tax and tip on this water. I have never been denied water in any restaurant anywhere in the world. You can be sure I will never return to Mediterranean Kabob House!!! As for food, I ordered a gyro platter. I would have preferred a little extra salad instead of rice but was told NO SUBSTITUTIONS. So my dog will get the rice with his other food. The gyro meat came on a piece of pita. It needed the pita to soak up some of the grease. The meat was floating in a sea of fat. I love Mediterranean food but this was probably the worst experience I have ever had at any local restaurant. While I'm no stranger to Middle Eastern cuisine, this is the first time I've eaten Turkish food and found it to be uniqely delicious. Ordered directly from the restaurant for fast and free delivery, bypassing third party fees/hassles on both sides. Started with two slices of Lahmacun, a traditional Turkish meat pie topped with savory ground lamb and spices. So good it was potentially addictive; especially liked that it's served on a thin crust and isn't made with gooey cheese since I'm watching carbs now. MKH's version of lentil soup is different from what I'm used to - they use red lentils (rather than brown) and kicked things up with a bit of red pepper and mint. Loved it! Went with chicken and lamb entrees. Chicken shish kebab was nicely charred on the outside while retaining a moist interior, served with white rice, charred onions/peppers, and sides of diced tomatoes and red cabbage. Broiled rib lamb chops were nicely spiced and a good portion but kinda dry, might not choose that again for takeout. Rustic, thick slices of pita came free with the meal, perfect for dipping. The food is delicious that hasn't changed over the years. But it's gotten expensive and now they won't give tap water when you eat in. And that is absolutely ridiculous!! My mother and I sat at the table and a woman came over and put the bottle down I didn't think anything of it. A lot of places put water or something on the table and this restaurant used to put juice on the table, a bottle that we had never used before. Then when the man came over to take our order we asked for water and he flat out refused saying they don't give water because they have the bottles. Well I don't feel like I should have to pay for water. This is not right at all and really ruined the dinner for us. I'm not sure why we stayed to be honest. When the bill came the man gave us the bill and the water was on it. Again we never even touch the bottle. I'm sure not the first to fight it and the men seem to realize that because we didn't touch the bottle he couldn't actually charge us for it and did give us a fixed receipt. I've driven by so many times and it's always busy so It's been on my list for a while. When a friend recommended it, I couldn't wait. We were a party of 6 came on a Sunday at 3pm and we were quickly seated. We started with one of the samplers and it was delicious. All of them incredible! We also ordered a salad that looked amazing, fresh. I was being rather conservative so I ordered the chicken gyro. It was ok. Nothing I'd order again, just blandish. My husband got the lamb and he said also it was just ok. The rest of our party seemed pleaSed with their meals. We ended with some baklava's which was so good. So I give 3 stars cause it's just ok. I don't ever post reviews on yelp however I had to for this restaurant. I had a gift card for this place and figured I'd try it out. Menu prices were absolutely insane compared to what was shown online but figuring with inflation we just looked past it and didn't look to much into it. When the waiter, I'm assuming he was the owner came by to take our order, he was so overly pushy with trying to get appetizers and was questioning us like there was something wrong why we wouldn't want to order it and didn't seem normal. I mentioned to my mom they had Snapple and literally felt like he was attacking us to order the Snapple. Anyways, we ordered a "family platter" which said for 2 ppl and it was priced at $35. He was trying for us to push for more3 people and we said considering we ordered other menu items. When we were finishing up our meal, the waiter came by to clear the table because I had ordered the tea. He literally started grabbing the plates as my parents were visibly still eating from it. When the check came, it came out for $184 for 3 people and we ordered only the family platter, a pizza teas and one dessert. I was so confused at the prices compared to the menu and the owner saw my face and seemed panicky and was like what's wrong. He charged $70 alone for platter. And laughed it off saying no, it's $35 PER person when the menu clearly said 2 ppl for $35. Which he assured us when we ad ordered. The tip they added absolutely didn't not add up nor did a $7 soda can. They got very very fidgety and honestly never ever again. If I can give it less than a 1 I would. Food is good especially the chicken steak but very expensive. They bring big pot covered with fresh bread and for two people it comes out to $100 + . No veggies just a few meats and one small lousy plate of rice. The pot is empty. Sad that this place used to be so reasonably priced and now finds several ways to rip you off. First, they put a bottle of water on the table and, when I asked if there was a charge for that, they said it would be $4.50. I refused the bottled water and asked for water from the tap. They said they only can serve bottled water. Absurd! Second, the menu clearly read in the section for Chicken entrees that all entries come with a salad, rice and vegetables. But the waiter claimed that we'd need to buy a full sized salad for close to $20 if we wanted salad and that side salads were not available. When we used to go there, the plate came with salad on it. Now, you just get a pile of rice, and the entree, which contained less chicken than when you order in Chinese food. And they have the nerve to charge $27 for that! Third, the bill came with a service fee already tacked on, which amounted to 19.55%, while the bottom read this was an 18% tip. It seems they were calculating the tip based on the amount of the food + the tax! I believe it's against the law to do this. Fourth, the "tip suggestions" showed that an 18% tip should have something that, in fact, amounted to a 23% tip! Fifth, when the credit card payment form arrived, it had the sneaky nerve to have a line to add a tip ON TOP OF THAT SERVICE CHARGE! We paid without giving an additional tip and vowed never to return, despite how delicious their food still is. There are other places to go to where you will not be overcharged. read more

Our pharmacy at Unity Hospital was just "blacklisted". We were all enjoying our meal, which was amazing by the way, but after receiving a phone call from the restaurant owner or driver of family owned business it left a bad taste in our mouth. He spoke to one of our staff inappropriately, was yelling, and stated that we gave the restaurant a one star review, and that he knows this because he tracked our order by receipt. No one left a bad order, he tracked down the wrong receipt, and he has shown terrible and extremely unprofessional behavior in regards to this matter. He stated, "you are now blacklisted and never order from my restaurant again." Now we are in fact leaving a bad review and will make others aware of the restaurants etiquette and terrible customer service. Came here with family, and I didn't expect this restaurant to be so good! They brought us this toasted bread that was so good that I couldn't stop eating them. We ordered Hummus and it went so good with the bread. Everyone at our table kept raving about the Hummus. I had the Lamb Chops for my entrée. I thought it was excellent and would highly recommend it. It was served with rice and salad. For dessert, we all had Baklava. This was one of the better Baklava that I ever had. Some restaurants put too much honey when they make Baklava and sometimes it's too sweet for my taste. But this restaurant makes their Baklava with the perfect amount of honey, pistachio and filo. I will come here just for the Baklava! It's hard to find a Mediterranean restaurant in Long Island that doesn't serve bland food. I'm glad we found this spot. read more

Food and service was great. I ordered the babaganoush and bass over the salad. Both were delicious. Hot bread that was included was delicious. My fiancé ordered the chicken soup and the lamb kebab. The soup was hearty and delicious. The lamb was delicious as well. Portions are big. We both had enough for lunch the next day. For dessert we ordered baklava and rice pudding. We've never such amazing rice pudding! It was phenomenal. Only thing I was not happy about were the charges. When we sat down they gave a large bottle of Poland spring. I thought it was just included. But they charged us $4.50 for it. And they also charged 20% gratuity for just 2 people. I understand if there is a large group, but for 2 people?
