First, let me explain my choice of three stars. To me, it means just average. We stopped by for lunch after an appointment in Ormond. The service was a solid okay. Not horrible, not great. I liked the ambiance and had high hopes that the food would be something I would want to come back to again and again. I had the Greek gyro platter, because I love gyro meat and it's a good test dish. The tzatziki was good, they gyro pretty average and could have been a lot hotter. I was excited to see Greek peas on the menu, but they were quite bland with no discernible seasoning and could have been hotter too. My husband had a falafel sandwich. He thought the falafel itself was pretty good but felt the same way about the peas. Not sure that we feel comfortable coming back and trying the octopus and lamb chops. Today my wife and I decided to have some lunch while at this plaza. This is the only restaurant which was fine as I have eaten here before and loved it. First when walking in I always remember when this was a Holliday House. They have changed much regarding the atmosphere but kept the layout. The previous buffet layout is used for their Su day brunch buffet. We were sat a a table by a very pleasant young man and then meet our server Nico who was wonderful. He will explain any and all Greek food if you are confused at all. He did this several times with many new patrons arrived at other tables. Started with the Greek coffee - very good. My wife had a burger with Greek green beans but I had the Gyro platter with the lemon potatoes and Greek peas . Plenty of food and delicious . A pleasure to visit. RE: SUNDAY BRUNCH REVIEW Went with a friend for their Sunday Brunch and must say we were impressed with the quality, selection and value this buffet feast offered. Healthy and authentic Greek fare that put it NOTCHES above other local brunch buffet offerings. My favorites included the salad, gyros, chicken w artichokes and OUTSTANDING spanakopita! Had a fantastic early dinner here after the 24 hrs of Daytona race. We were tired and hungry, but looking for a solid and healthy meal. It's been on my list to visit forever!! And finally made it over with a good friend, and we were not disappointed. The mix and match was great option to share. The pasticio was so creamy and delicious. Def tasted authentic. The lamb pops were cooked perfectly. The loaded fries were amazing. The grilled zucchini and peas were spot on. My only minor complaint is the spanakopita could've used a little more phyllo dough and less filling!! I know I know, no one complains about excess filling! Best Gyro I have had in a very long time! Could not stop eating it!! The pita had this delicious taste and texture while the inside was so fresh and flavorful! YUMMY is all I can say!!! Came here for my birthday. One of the few places outside of Astoria and Greece where I found bougatsa. It was very tasty even though I suspect it was prepackaged. The octopus was very good though not a large serving for the price. Spanakopita was delicious. Potatoes and fries were very good. My dad loved the gyros. Service was not great I think she was new so we let it ride. It was a Saturday evening and the place was fairly empty. Overall the good things were good and authentic enough to make me want to go back. I definitely left satisfied and I it seemed authentic enough for someone who has spent a good deal of time in Greece. I've also spent my entire life eating Greek food at home. read more

Emily was a fantastic knowledgeable server! Grape leaves and pita with humas and the chicken rice soup were very good appetizers. Pork chop with peas and fries was delicious, with enough to take home for another meal. The steak kabob was excellent snd the Gyro platter was enough for 2 ! All in all the whole visit was a delight . It was quiet at 4 with happy hour pricing on some things. Oh and add that they loved the rice pudding to finish this great time. So I am a Chicago native. In my humble opinion, Chicago is the food capital of the world. Chicago has Greek town, Chinatown, little Italy, and Little Mexico. But now that I'm a Florida resident, I am trying to find food that I sincerely miss. Enter Greektown Taverna. I got an order to go and OMG it was so good. I got the Gyros platter. Because I was getting it to go I didn't wanna get fries so I got great rice. The gyros was tender, had excellent seasoning and plentiful. I asked for extra Taziki sauce and they gave it to me on the side. The rice was absolutely excellent. My order was well put together and all in all I was a very happy camper. I've never had tomato-based Moussaka before. Almost my entire plate had tomato sauce on it, so it looked more Italian than Greek. This was not the Greek food I'd expected. Just ate family-style and it was delicious! The two pics are of the Greektown Mezze Platter (minus mixed olives). It hit the spot for me and allowed my kids to try something new. Love Greektown Taverna and have tried several entrees, all delicious! As I'll bet the Pastitsio is. I wanted take out a couple days ago, so I called to order it but found there was no salad usually include when we order. This dish comes with two sides. We did not like the two veggies offered. There was also a pasta salad and 3 kinds of potatoes offered. Since the Pastitsio is a pasta dish, we did not want any of those. Asked them to substitute a salad for the sides but was told that was only available for additional $6. So we ordered stir fry from a local Thai restaurant instead. We had dinner there with some friends recently. I was so looking forward to some Greek food. As a Chicago native we have many great Greek restaurants there. The good: The grilled octopus, gyro plate, our friends salads. Veggie salad with feta. The bad: The saganaki. Flat no body , Greek potatoes more like fries than plump and tender. Heard about this place from a couple that raved about the food here. I Knew I wouldn't make it in time before closing from Daytona, so I door dashed some food. Pastitsio with Greek potatoes and a side order of the Greek pasta salad. Right when I got my order I could smell the delicious Greek spices and knew I was going to enjoy the food. The Pastitsio is super good, the potatoes are amazing and the pasta salad side is a huge portion and is really good.
