I believe that the mall is changing for the better. For example they seem to be removing the low-end stores and replacing them with high-end stores and New restaurants too. It's a Long Island mall but runs like a metro location. Their anchor stores like Macy's, JCP and Sears are overdue for renovations. If they continue on this path maybe add an Apple Store, Zara or something, it should work. Honestly the demographics of this location is pretty mixed. You have upper to working-class on the Long Island side and upper-middle to working class on the Queens side... Mostly working class neighborhoods. With that said I hope they do not over develop, catering to upper class. But if done right, they can give Roosevelt field a run for their money. read more

This mall is as average as they come. If I'm ever here i'm heading straight to whatever store I planned on going to. No window shopping. Again... Very Average Mall. I've live in Springfield Gardens just about all my life and remember when this mall was 1 floor with very little stores, and then they renovated and it was amazing. When I was old enough to drive, I discovered Roosevelt Field and I haven't looked back since. Even though Roosevelt Field carries some of the same stores as Green Acres, the staff in RF are friendly, RF's stores are bigger and offer more (GA's Old Navy is a hot mess). Many of my friends had horrible experiences in GA - even though my aunt's car was stolen right out of Jersey Gardens- that was the worst. I only go there if its something where I know I can get pretty quickly and I don't have to search for it (i.e. MAC at Macys - and even their staff isn't friendly). As for Wal-Mart, its by far the worst in NY. They are under a 3 month renovation, and I really hope it gets better. I'm an early bird, so I go between 7:30a and 8a on Saturdays just so I won't run into anybody and also I try to get there when things aren't picked over and thrown on the floor. Target is slightly better, but not much. Oh, and I see they're building a Kohls...interesting. I can actually say their Pet Smart is about the most decent store and I can walk out completely satisfied. Until Green Acres step it up, I rather waste my gas and go to Roosevelt Field on any given day (I'm 5-8 mins away from GA). As congested as it is, even Queens Center Mall took notice and is constantly trying to improve. This mall was okay perhaps a decade ago, but now with the new additions of the green acres commons, traffic is really congested there, especially on holidays. I was just driving on sunrise highway during Christmas eve, around 6 o'clock, and let me tell you, traffic there was as if a BOMB WENT OFF and everyone was trying to leave all at once. It gets even WORSE!!! At times like these, it seems as if people just don't know how to drive. Just like when a person sees an open space on the road, and tries to maneuver there, and HITS my car, and have to roll my window down and tell them to F*CKING LEARN TO DRIVE A$$HOLE, like what the F*CK. And then the cops have to show up to get people out of there, and not resolving disputes, and helicopters flying around, jeez!!!! And just imagine finding a parking spot. yikes!!! read more

The first thing to know about GA Mall is that it is partially under construction right now. It is getting a desperately needed face-lift. The part that has been completed is so much nicer than the older sections that still need restoration. The department stores in the mall are Sears, Penny's and Macy's. As others have mentioned, Macy's is split in 2, so it's such a pain when I want to go look at cute dresses while my bf shops for jeans. We have to be on opposite ends of the mall so it's hard to ask for each other's opinions on crucial buying decisions. The Sears and Penny's are not laid out very well and are over crowded with merchandise. And strangely, they both seem super dark. They need a few hundred more light bulbs in there. There is also an H&M that doesn't have a men's section. Pity. They have a small food court that has the typical fare: Wendys, Subway, terriaki chicken, pizza, McD's. They also have an Appleby's and a Friendly's. Looking for healthy options? Yeah, well, good luck. Here's a tip: everyone and their mother, grandmother, and favorite auntie parks near the front of the mall, by the entrance to Appleby's. Just take a short drive to the backside of the mall and you'll find much more parking. Oh, also, other stores in the mall plaza are: Target, Walmart, Home Depot, Best Buy and a BJs which is opening shortly. So, you know this isn't the kind of mall to window shop and take a stroll, I prefer to get in and out as quickly as possible. But, I usually find whatever it is I need. read more

Save yourself a headache and a terrible mall experience and go the extra 20 minutes to Roosevelt Field Mall. They renovated this place so it looks like a nice mall, but it's still the same old Green Acres. It's filled with crime and the stores and mall area are dirty and overcrowded. We got stuck in a Macy's elevator and nobody seemed to care. Luckily the doors finally flew open and we ran out of that mall and never looked back. read more

Great local mall, I know where all the stores are and navigate where I need to go to get what I want. I visit Macy's, Fashion to Figure, Afaze the most. I recommend Forever21, Applebees, Cinnabon. It's been a while since I ventured this way. Probably with good reason too. If you've never been here you aren't missing much. It's really no different that any other mall aside from the fact that the property is severely neglected with trash and litter. I visited on a windy day and my car was sitting in the lot getting pelted with bags of trash, flying soda cans, and whirlwinds of gravel and dirt. I almost didn't get out of the car. I also think it's pretty ridiculous that they have two separate Gamestops in the same mall. What purpose does that really serve. Especially when they refuse to associate with each other and they have different stock. So yes we had to make a purchase at one Gamestop then to to another Gamestop for other games that the first one didn't have in stock. read more

It's an Ok mall there's nothing really spectacular about it. In fact sometimes I don't really feel like it's a mall, it feel more like an outlet most of the time. The store selection is very limited with just a couple to choose from. They don't have Sephora here! and I hardly ever get adequate service from the M.A.C. that's located in Macy's. There are different stores surrounding the actual mall, like HellMart, BJ's, Target, Michaels, Bestbuy etc.But mostly,I come here for Target, Chipotle and Panera Bread. read more

A place that changes as the community changes, it has seen it's share of stores go and come (Alexanders, Stern's, Candians, etc). BUt it is a mainstay. This mall was great back in the 90's but it's pretty crappy now. There are a bunch of teenagers running around, and the chain stores are a mess (jc penny, macys). And the mall doesn't have a GAP or Banana Republic, but they have a crusty ass Old Navy smh. The best part is the food court. They have a lot of options. It's the nearest mall to me so that's the only reason I come here and it's usually when I really need something which there are only 5 stores I visit which is macys, oldnavy, h&m, victoria secret and my favorite pretzel maker they make the best almond pretzels. This was a great place to hang out as a kid but now that I am older, this isnt the place for me.

I am completely over this mall. As a child I had great memories of Green Acres Mall. I remember taking family photos here as a toddler at Sears and Santa Claus coming every year to surprise the kids. That was when Green Acres was awesome! Now I avoid this place as an adult. The parking lot is always chaotic and I barely feel safe leaving my car here. I have heard so many stories of shoppers getting their cars vandalized, and shoppers being seriously hurt during one of those Black Friday sales. Did I mention I was completely OVER this mall? Oh yeah I did...well I had to mention it again! This mall needs a serious update, and I am never excited to go to Green Acres Mall. Ever. Actually, I only go if I HAVE to and that is very rare. Nothing in this mall appeals to me, and from reading the reviews of my fellow yelpers, most of us feel the same way. Avoid.... Actually, if you HAVE to go to Green Acres Mall, just visit the Target which is newly renovated and has a separate parking lot. Don't come here at nite so many stories of people getting mugged in the parking lot at gun point. I left my girl in the car one nite for a few minutes while I went to pick up something from a friend and she witness two guys sticking a guy up herself. Also this place has a lot of parking but getting out is a nitemare. The mall itself is sorta boring not much variety. I wouldn't recommend coming here unless you know absolutely what you want. I bought a jeans from Old Navy in Valley Stream, NY in September 2011 and the jeans is torn and they said they wont give me back my money. This jeans was washed once and I worn it to school sometimes and the jean is disgusted because the material is rotten. Please stay away from Old Navy rotten jeans you will be wasting your hard earn money. I am so disappointed with level of service and the terrible quality of the jeans they sell. It's an ok mall that seems to be going down hill. Every time I come here new "$10 clothing and shoe stores" just pop up overnight. I remember as a teenage I use to brag about coming to this mall every weekend until I discovered Roosevelt Field Mall. It's not really the safest mall (there have been a few fights, mostly teens fighting) and the mall security are either too old to chase people / break up a fight or too fat to chase some one / break up a fight. I only come to this mall if I'm in dyer need of something and even then I hate coming here. This places needs a make over and quick! read more

A vast improved mall since the last time I been there about 5 years ago, before it was like the scariest mall on earth to go to, and the mall was in near runins. But since I return to check out it this summer I was surpize to see much improvements in this mall, which is great and some shopper who left this mall have return. I still will not go to this mall like I use to in the past but at least I willing to go here if to buy and shop if this is the only place I can get an item. Looks much better than it used to so at least Management is trying. Never encountered any theft issues but I wouldn't be surprised. You won't find the high-end brands at the Macy's here either.This is an in-and-out mall, not a place I could see myself staying in all day. Best time to go is during the week after work. Yes the area surrounding the mall isn't too safe but if you come here during daylight hours and park close to the stores you should be pretty good. As far as malls go this probably falls somewhere in the middle. I think this place is better than the dreaded Kings Plaza just because it has more stores. Roosevelt Mall is a better mall but for me is a longer drive. They had remodeled this mall a few years ago and it is now slightly better than in was in the 90's. read more

My wife and I have lived here for about 3 years now, long enough to see the mall as it was before the renovation. It's improved a lot, although it's still not a high-end mall and never will be. It does attract its share of people from southeast Queens, and the MTA runs buses from Queens that always seem packed - it's almost more of a Queens mall than a Long Island mall. Still, I personally never feel unsafe there - most of the people seem like regular people, just not upper class, and of course they're more racially mixed than most LI malls. My wife doesn't feel comfortable shopping there by herself, though. I don't feel like the renovation has been a complete success. The mall looks pretty nice now, but the construction and materials seem pretty cheap and the result is that it sounds like walking through a cave when you're in there. The acoustics are terrible. It probably sounds like a funny criticism but it makes the overall atmosphere just a little weird. It's not a place that feels really inviting, despite the updated decor. It's also gotten a lot more crowded, especially on the Queens side of the mall. The roads and signals are a mess, and parking is impossible on some days, even with a new garage. I made the mistake once of trying to go to Home Depot by going to the west entrance to the mall off Sunrise Highway - what a nightmare! I still go to this mall sometimes because I live less than five minutes from it... but I confess I take the extra time to go to Roosevelt Field more often than not. read more

I worked in the mall for 2 diff places in the 90's. Mall was great back then. Had bookstore, FYE, CVS, Woolworths and many other great places no longer there. Today higher end shops there, but not for me. May go there for a quick stop and bite to eat. Other than that no thanks. Parking can be horrendous. A stop sign is def needed on side road /first entrance to parking lot by Macy's leading to bjs/Walmart as ppl drive like crazy on that winding curve. Its not a terrible mall... and they really are fixing it up. It looks a bit nicer... I use to feel this mall was ghetto but someone mentioned on their post that they came from Oakland and went to this mall and saw nothing ghetto about it ... they just saw a bunch of black people. Perhaps thats what we attributed ghetto with.... The reason I didnt like the mall before is because it didnt have my fav stores... now they have them... They now have AA and Aero and HnM.... Finally decided to write a review about Green Acres Mall simply because it had gotten better over the years. More department stores have been added and also a few renovations have been done at this location.i am a big Fan of Century 21 and to my surprise I have only found out Yesterday that one opened up right at Green Acres Mall will go for sure and check it out.Green Acres Mall will not be placed on top of my list for one of my shopping sprees but definitely will be a next option if and only I am around that neighborhood read more

I really don't have an issue with Green Acres. I own an American car, so the chances of it being stolen are fairly slim. Alot of the stuff you can find at Roosevelt Field you can find here. It used to be sort of grimy, but they renovated the interior a few years back and it looks much, much better. The bottom line is that it is close to my house and I don't have to drive more than two minutes to get here. It works. read more
