We needed a contractor to lay hardscape, drip irrigation, and drought-resistant planting in the entire space. Unfortunately, I'm coming back with an updated review based on the current state of my yard. Within a few weeks, weeds started popping up. Reached out to Edgar, was told they had to be surface-level (growing in the DG, above the weed blocker) and that the wind had blown them into the DG. The roots ran well-below the weed blocker but I left it alone because pulling a few weeds every now and then isn't a big deal to me. Now, a year later, the DG is sinking EVERYWHERE. My 5 pound dog's paw punches holes when he walks. We can't sit in the furniture without sinking. Weeds grow everywhere, and he didn't advise us that the ivy along the back fence would grow beneath the weed blocker, causing the mulch area to lift, which is extending into the DG. Upon further inspection, some areas had the thicker, good quality weed blocker but some areas had the thinnest plastic kind available. He didn't advise us that the rain gutter spout/outlet would be an issue so the area around there looks horrible as well (sunken below the rest of the yard, and dark black from catching the runoff). The evaluation I've gotten to fix the many problems are that a cheap or improper mix of DG was used (mostly sand, not enough granite), and that it wasn't stamped properly. That's on top of not advising about the issue with the ivy and the gutter spout. The DG sinking issues began early this year but I was unable to address until now as I had to move out for months due to flooding. So, on top of those extensive expenses, I am also footing the cost to fix this work. I'll add pictures when I'm done moving back in. read more

So glad I found Edgar and his team. Just like all the other reviews say, he is reliable, fair, professional, and he knows his craft! He clearly puts customer satisfaction first. After another 5-star landscaping team unexpectedly pushed the start date multiple times, I hired Edgar for an irrigation and lighting project for my front yard. If I could give Edgar 10 stars I would. He started the work right away. He worked on July 3rd and July 5th, technically both holidays... He was in a car accident the morning he was meant to start, and after he took care of his truck, he came and started the project later that same day. Once he got to work, he did not rush anything, he took his time, he listened to what I had in mind, and then he made suggestions that improved my original idea. Edgar is also a problem solver, and easy to communicate with. After he had dug the needed trenches, he discovered the water source that he had anticipated working with did not have any water. That was a not so good surprise for us. He found a water source in the back garden, which meant extra piping, and a bit of extra time too. He did not charge any extra. Because his budget was reasonable, and because his work ethics are a class act, we are already planning another landscaping project together for my back garden that he will start on in a few days. Whether you wish to discuss some design ideas you are thinking of, or if you already know what you need done, Edgar is your landscaping genie!! He provided super fast, clear communication, not to mention a very competitive quote. We can recommend Edgar Lopez, his father, and the entire team from Green Cactus without reservation. They gave us exceptional service and exceeded our expectations at every turn. We had never engaged a professional landscaping company before but after reading their excellent recommendations on Yelp, we hired them to install gopher wire, sprinklers and landscaping for a neglected side yard in front of our home. We had a 60 year old cracked cement driveway that really took away from all the improvements we had recently done to the property. Edgar suggested pavers as the ideal solution and said they would give our home a much needed shot of curb appeal. Boy, was he right! Since we were doing other work with them, he gave us a very good price on the driveway as well a a paver patio outside our master bedroom and a remodel of a dangerous walkway.
