Desmond is an earnest guy and I appreciate the business he's creating, but I was very unsatisfied with his work. This was partially due to poor expectation-setting (on both our parts), and partially because he left the job less than half-finished. My yard had gotten away from me. I pointed out the weeds growing through cracks, overgrown hedges, and an unruly lawn that was more dandelion than grass. Desmond walked around the property twice before he gave me a quote to get me back to baseline. It was high and he seemed unable to itemize it, but I know that weeding dandelions is a demanding task, so I agreed. He returned with his family and set about working. 2.5hrs later, he rang the doorbell and said they had an issue with their babysitter and had to go, but that he'd be back early the next day to finish. The work that had been completed so far included mowing the front yard (typically a 30min project), pulling weeds out of half a flowerbed, and edging the lawn. He had also gotten rid of grasses that were outside the property line I had laid out during our walkthrough, and thus not part of the project. The backyard, hedges, weeds, and other flowerbeds were untouched. It did not appear to be 5hrs' (2.5x2 people) worth of work. He also left a mess of clippings around the house, and threw his daughter's juice box in the yard waste bin. A portion of the house was splattered with dirt that had been sprayed up from a machine. I asked about the dandelions in the yard and the weeds growing through cracks and he said he had no idea that they were part of the project, and thus weren't included in the quote. After a discussion to reset expectations, I agreed to a slightly lower quote because I didn't want to rip him off if he was working with the expectation of the higher rate for less work. I revised my request (no more dandelion removal), paid him half of the new quote for the day, and we agreed on the expectations for the second half of the project that'd take place the next day. That was 2 weeks ago (on June 14th, 2022) and we haven't heard from him since. From where I'm standing, he took a payment of twice what the work was worth and ran. I'm sorry we had such a miscommunication, but going forward, consider spending more time in the expectation-setting phrase and putting proposals in writing. And if there are delays, communicate that with your client. And if you're considering Green City, make sure payment is delivered *after* the service is complete. read more

Des and Offa did a fantastic job helping us with our tree needs. Originally I requested an estimate for just our birch tree in the backyard which had a ton of dead branches and was "balding" in the center. But upon a further walk through Des said he could help clean up our rhodendra, ferns along the front of the house, clean up our hydrangea which had a ton of dead branches and leaves. He noticed a vine was choking the hydrangea and hedge in front and ripped it out. He also noticed our Douglas fir tree in the front was getting too full and needed a shape up at the bottom. He was able to quote me an agreeable price for all the services and included clean up. This was on Saturday, and he was able to come on Monday with Offa and complete the job. Dez and Offa did a wonderful job. They came over to remove a tree, which they completed safely and efficiently. They gave me the 16" logs for burning as requested and left the site very clean. I asked them to quote another project. Our site has a creek, and the street side was very, very overgrown with ivy and bramble thicket. It had not been tended for a long time. I asked them to remove the ivy and lower limbs on 3 Cedars and clean out the bramble thicket along the creek banks and pull back the ivy. Not only am I very pleased with the result, my neighbors have also let me know what a wonderful job Green City Tree Care did. A large branch broke partially off a tree in my front yard. After onsite evaluation, we agreed to a price since the branch was much larger than it looked in the pics I sent previously. Des was prompt and in constant communication with me regarding plan and schedule. Their team came up with a removal plan and executed in a safe manner which was very important to me. We hired Desmond for Bamboo tree removal after reading good yelp reviews about this company. He did not do a complete job of removal. The tree roots were still left behind to grow. He has been unresponsive to our repeated follow up questions. This was a very disappointing and frustrating experience. Do NOT recommend this company. read more

I mostly communicated with Liana, who was very responsive and easy to work with. The crew came out pretty much the next day after I spoke with them, which was amazing, seeing as my car was stuck. They did a great job, cleared all the wood and branches for what seemed like a reasonable price. There was some miscommunication and they didn't see that there was a different branch on a different side of the house. Dez ended up coming out a different day and we were able to negotiate a fair price for them to actually cut down the other tree (instead of just getting rid of the branch for cheaper), as it was growing a bit crooked because it was in some sloped ground. They gave me a little discount and left burnable wood neatly piled in my yard, cleared the branches. Would highly recommend them! Very patient and kind people.
