On Yelp, I wish I could just write about stuff like tasty hand-crafted cocktails or finding a cart that sells elk burgers (or better yet, bear meat). But no, life is not all lollipops and rainbows. We were off to a decent start with Green Clean, but now we are divorced. I can't do business with Green Clean's owner, who sadly, has lacked candor and maturity in her dealings with me. I'm particularly disappointed that this lady made promises to me on the phone, then turned around and sent me a cowardly email reneging on her promises. Christina, the owner, had the audacity to tell me that our HOA was not worth her time. Customer service is not her strong suit, but shenanigans are. Frankly, the quality of services provided by Green Clean had slipped badly. During the past two months, the snotty prima donna attitude and "lick and a promise" cleanings were a major letdown. Oh, FYI - one of the filtered (but now unfiltered) reviews mentions that Green Clean's workers are NOT bonded. If I had known that previously, Green Clean never would have gotten our business. read more

I read the reviews here but I wasn't put off by a couple of the one star reviews for the way they prefer to do business. I felt that their business policies were up front and out in the open. So I booked a clean with them to try them out. It only took about 10 minutes spent with Kasia to realize I was going to be a regular customer. Kasia is a star. Hard working, smart, respectful and unobtrusive. She was very attentive to what we wanted done but didn't require any handholding or micro-managing and after a quick walk through she was hard at work. Personally, I would say give them a try. Also, just as a side note. My contact with the owner has been very up front, professional and respectful. read more

Our type of business means there are some special issues that come up in regards to cleaning, but GreenClean doesn't miss a beat in making sure our rooms are spotless and sanitary. Christina is a miracle-worker. My husband purchased a gift certificate for me for Christmas. This was our first experience of working with a cleaning person. We were nervous about it--would the company be reliable, would they be thorough, would we feel safe having our kids around during the cleaning? Christina was all that and more! We were so happy with her attention-to-detail, cheerful attitude, and willingness to go the extra mile that we hired her twice month, after that first post-Christmas cleaning. Her prices are so reasonable that it wasn't a financial stretch. One day this summer we were going to cancel a long-planned camping trip. We had out of town guests coming the week after, and we wanted to make sure the house was in order. The thought of planning the camping trip, packing, hiking--only to come home to the unpacking, cleaning, etc...was not pleasant. Then, Christina arrived. We had forgotten it was her cleaning day. Just like that, the fog lifted. We packed up our camping gear and went out to enjoy our family time together, secure in the knowledge that we would come home to a clean house. Long ago in a pre-struggling-economy life, my husband and I had this flaky, mediocre and apparently severely over-priced housekeeper. Why we kept her for as long as we did, I don't know. I suppose we can thank the economy for tanking for giving us the huevos to finally let her go. We've struggled through the last two years attempting to keep up but just spiraling further and further into pigsty-dom. After last ditch efforts over the past few months to convince both myself and my husband that somehow I would become this efficient maven of housecleaning, I succumbed to hiring one...or rather my husband lovingly suggested. I love a clean house (who doesn't?) but I'm finally being honest in saying I'm not much of a housekeeper. After our last housekeeper, we had a few criteria: efficient, does a thorough job and uses eco-friendly products. Enter Christina Redl of "greenclean." Christina showed up at our house on a Friday afternoon (a housekeeper and she had a Friday spot for us?? Yes!!) and in less than two hours was gone with our house looking like Mary Poppins had been there. She's fast, she's awesome, she's reasonably priced and she's got a great business model. Her business is all on bike using eco-friendly products. That's right, this girl bikes all over Portland to perfectly clean Portlanders' homes with eco-friendly products. Not only that but she's just cool and super funny. I realize that selecting the 43rd president because he was the one people most wanted to have a beer with didn't bode well for the country but that theory wouldn't play out with Christina. I mean, isn't the ideal that you'd like to have a beer with (enter title of person) AND have them be kick-ass at what they do? Christina is that rare combo--housekeeper extraordinaire and cool chick. read more

I made an appointment with Christina about a week ahead of time. When the appointment came she showed up on time, did a great job and charged me a super reasonable price. She carried herself very professionally and was done in less time than I'd anticipated. I would definitely hire again without hesitation. read more

Living in a condo, I was embarrassed to hire a cleaner because the space was small and why oh why couldn't I keep on top of the maintenance myself. Truth is I hate dusting, vacuuming and mopping ... I'd much rather be doing something else and Christina allows me that. For an incredibly reasonable price she's here twice a month to take care of the place. She's fast and thorough and my place looks and smells great thanks to the eco-friendly products she uses. Best of all, she rides her bike to the job which allows me to ride my bike away from it ... thanks Christina ... I'm glad I found you right here on Yelp. read more

I wanted to love Green Clean. The rates are great, the idea that they use green products is awesome and they take public transportation or bike to their clients. Wow. So, I asked if someone would come out and meet me and provide an estimate. NOPE. You have to arrange for them to come out and clean the first time. Why? Because they don't want to have to ride their bike or take public transport if they aren't cleaning. Now, considering none of them are bonded and I don't know any of them, I didn't think it unreasonable to at least want to meet with the person who was going to be in my home, handling my possessions, beforehand. Instead of making an exception when I mentioned I had to change my locks because of a previous bad housekeeping experience, I was told that perhaps I should go with someone else. Yep, you're right. I'd rather go with a company that still believes in customer service. read more

Megan cleaned our kitchen floor and 2 showers last week. The floor hadn't been mopped in 2 years (no joke) and one of the showers was disgusting (lots of mold and mildew). Megan was awesome and left both showers sparkling and spotless (and the floor looked great as well). Bless her patience, thoroughness, and great attitude; cleaning the tiled shower involved her scrubbing all 3 walls, inch by inch, w/ a scouring pad and a wire grout brush. It was a massive job (which is why we let it get to such a point). Having Green Clean come was a great experience and we'll definitely use them again, most likely when we move out to get our house up to snuff so our landlord doesn't keep any of our security deposit. I found Christina (the owner, who also cleans) to be easy to communicate w/ (we had several emails back and forth to set up the appointment & determine the visit length). Something I really appreciated was that Christina was open to what I could afford. Because she hadn't seen our house & didn't know the size/scope of the job, she estimated that it could take 4 hours. When I told her that 2 hours was my budget, she was fine w/ that and we agreed that Megan would do her best in 2 hours. I ended up asking Megan if she could stay an extra 1/2 hour b/c she was doing such a great job that I threw in an extra shower. The only other time I've hired a cleaning service the owner had really strict rules about the minimum amount of time she would send someone out (and then they didn't even do a good job). I appreciated the simple, drama-free way that Christina runs her service. Thanks, Megan and Christina! read more

First time hiring a cleaning service so I was a little nervous. No worries going with Green Clean. The hourly rate is a bargain once you see how efficient, friendly and fast the folks work.
