I like this business a lot. They do great work with alterations and are very nice, never ordering you around as they alter and instead very much listening to your ideas. They have a quick turnaround time if you need it and don't even bat an eye if you ask for a few days or even fewer. I would give less than 1 star if I could. I have used Green Cleaners for 7 years for alterations and was always thrilled. Today...not so much. I brought in a dress that just needed top stitching in one spot on the neck line. The stitching didn't match and the color of the thread was several shades darker. When I said I wasn't happy they said their machine didn't have that motion. Then they should have never accepted the work. Then they dry cleaned the dress which I didn't ask for and the label clearly said not to dry clean. So the dress is ruined and was never worn once. Then I asked them to remove rank from my dress uniform and save it form me. They threw out the rank, my final rank. The rank I graduated with and then dry cleaned the uniform blazer that I didn't ask for. Changed me $34 my rank was tossed in the trash and they ruined my dress. They said I shouldn't be upset. I've had a few things tailored here. The tailor does a nice job. Also, if you look for coupons on your Jewel receipt (Lake Forest Jewel) you can get some pretty good deals. Keep it simple...that's what they do. That's why I like them. Conveniently located off of Sheridan road, Greens Cleaners is a quick in and out. We have taken wool rugs, down coats, more speciality items, rather than the weekly shirts. Always pleased with the result. They have been quick, efficient, and priced well. Customer service during drop off and pick up was poor at best. The quality of work was also sub-standard. Both times they barely acknowledged me, no greeting or again any Customer Service. I left here very unsatisfied with the experience and the service. read more

I have been going here for 6+ years. I must admit that the 99 cent shirt sign drew me in. Now I was going to a very good albeit expensive cleaner in Lake Forest, that store brought me back because of their quality. Green Cleaners has never disappointed. They are as good the high priced one, reduced my overall cleaning bill by 40% and have always been high quality. I travel extensively and use this business almost very week. They also tailor and repair clothing. Very good cleaner. BTW, for the poster below who was complaining about the price of her blouses, they give a receipt when you drop off your order. If you had taken the time to read it, the price would have been no surprise to you. These folks have always been upfront and honest. Shame on you for not looking at the slip when you dropped off your order. read more

These people are absolutely awful. I brought in a bridesmaid dress to be shortened and to have cups added. The cups were the problem. They were sewn into the dress lopsided and so that the material bunched in uneven lines over the chest. When I brought the dress back, asking for a refund, they wanted to try to alter the dress again, explaining that they had used someone else! They ended up giving me a partial refund, though not before asking if they could have the cups back from inside the dress. Unfortunately the refund didn't cover the next set of alterations. Stay away from these people! I'm so glad I didn't let them try again. read more

We were new customers to this business. We lived in Deerfield and had been going to CDPrice One. We have had to talk to the owner 3 times in regards to our service, laundering of our shirts etc. They have CONTINUOUSLY screwed up every time. We think 3 times telling the same thing over and over is a bit excessive, not too mention for charging $100+ for shirts that are supposed to laundered and pressed only (which would be way less than half the price we were charged). Just very disappointing after reading some of the reviews here. Needless to say they lost 2 customers today. Sad. read more

I have been looking for a greener cleaner in HP-Highwood area for a while because of the things I read and heard about the conventional cleaners and was concerned with the environmental impact of them. Typically I bring my husband's shirts for laundering and starching plus an occasional sweater or coat after the season is over. The clothes are always returned in great condition. There are no broken buttons (which was an issue with another cleaner in the area that we used). Also, this place always accepts and recycles hangers which I see as pests in my closets. They will do basic alterations but won't embroider (something I needed to be done for the corporate event). The prices are same as the conventional cleaner (in most cases anyway) Oh, and they have great candy dish filled with goodies like mini-Snickers bars. No crappy mints here! read more

I think I have FINALLY found my go to cleaners and alterations place close to my home in Highland Park! The ladies that work in the front are so nice and helpful and this is the SECOND time they have gone above and beyond to help a new customer. Both times they have completed alterations in less than a two day turnaround. Once was alterations for a dress for a wedding (shorten straps, put in breast cups and press dress) and most recently a jumpsuit that needed hemmed for a job interview on Monday. Both turned out beautifully and I am so pleased with their work. I totally spaced that they close today (Saturday) at 6pm and called them at 622pm just to see if anyone was around. Carolyn Lee answered the phone and said "Oh yes! I am waiting for you. Come on over." Seriously?! The nicest woman ever! I truly appreciate her waiting and allowing me to wear my new jumpsuit for my interview. I seriously love this place! read more

I have been using green cleaners pick up delivery service for 3 years and the prices are fair comparing with other cleaners that I have used before , they always take care of my good clothing , and I have my daughters clothes which is always with stains and they manage to remove everything all the time , they are always so nice and professional , they have done cleaning for my drapes , rugs everything etc . This business has lost 2 of our items on 2 separate occasions. We had to replace one of the items and then needed alterations. When we asked to be reimbursed for our item we were told that we "take the risk of having them loose things when we drop our clothing off". They eventually payed us after we threatened to pull our business from them. We will never use them again. read more

These people are absolutely crazy. They got it in their head that they delivered me someone else's pants and didn't deliver my clothes to me until I went in there. Two weeks later, I hear someone pounding on my door and it's the lady from the cleaners now accusing me of keeping someone else's shirts. I do not have any clothes except my own. These people convert their disorganization in to accusing me of keeping someone's clothes? I will never go in there again, nor would I ever recommend ever doing business with these crazy people. read more

I have been using Green Cleaners since they first opened. Anyone that knows me will tell you how crazy I am about wearing perfectly taylored and pressed clothes. It's hard to find anything good online except restaurants and points of interest because people rarely leave reviews. This place deserves all the business because of how perfectly they do their job. The most insane thing happened to me. After doing business there a couple of time a week for the last 5 years without incident I came into pick up my shirts. I had my ticket for 7 shirts and owed $6.93. The girl brought out my shirts the ticket said $9.53. I said it was wrong and asked to see my original ticket which she showed my said $6.93. The owner told me the "inspector" thought one of my shirts should have been dry cleaned so I owed more. I her I didn't want it dry cleaned, the tag on the shirt did not say dry clean and if she would have given me the original ticket with it showing dry clean I would have asked her to change it. She told me she already have spent the money to dry clean it so I owed her. I said it wasn't my fault and I shouldn't have to pay for it and she went into some crazy explanation about if the bank made a mistake and gave her to much money she would give it back even though it was their mistake. She told me I would have to pay this time and next time they made a mistake I wouldn't have to pay for it. She then proceeded to take my shirts back and hide them in the back. I calmly (and that was not easy) told her that if I paid the extra $ I would not be coming back and she said fine. I asked her if she was sure she wanted to throw away 5 years of business over a $3 mistake that was her fault she said yes. I told her I only wanted to pay what I owed and asked to see my original ticket, she said she couldn't find it (even though it was just under the counter). I put $6 on the counter and she gave me half my shirts, so I put the other $3 down and told her give me my shirts and I wouldn't be back. In the meantime a young Asian guy came into pick up a BIG stack of laundry, she gave it to him and tore the ticket off and told him that it was free. So I guess she showed me, she gave away $20 worth of free laundry, got a bad review, and lost a steady customer - but she got her $3. ________________________________________ read more

I took a silk duvet cover in to be dry cleaned. When I dropped it off, I had them mark the spots on it. I went to pick up the duvet and it still had spots on it. They re-ran the duvet, but when I went to pick it up I fortunately checked it before leaving, it still had spots. I don't think they would have even told me they could not get them out again, if I had not checked. The owner (very hard to understand) told me they tried. I asked if she would give me my money back, since it was so expensive. She told me she would do a partial credit, but wouldn't refund me. I would not recommend going here for 2 reasons: 1) expensive for anything other than men's shirts, 2) they do not get stains out. On the tailoring side, they do a good job mending. read more

Had two good experiences. Fairest price I could find (in Highland Park area) for getting my comforter and pillows washed. On top of that they have been tailoring my jeans and do a great job for only $10/pair. If you dont have a go-to cleaners, this is definitely one to try. The only downside is turnover time, but I would assume that means they are busy if it takes a few days to complete your order. read more

I received very poor service from this company that was formerly very trustworthy -- they mixed up and then lost my clothing, told me to replace it with an item of ~equal value and they'd reimburse us, and then they rescinded their offer for any amount of reimbursement once it was ordered. They were very disrespectful and have since lost very loyal customers. read more

I don't even know where to start. The boss is very disrespectful to her customers and employees. Washing your mouth in front of the customers shows a lack of respect to us. It's disgusting. The boss pretends that you ever payed and asks you to pay twice. If you're not careful or paying attention then you will end up paying again for what you had originally paid for. read more
