My review is only for their dry cleaning services as I have not needed any alterations. Note: ownership changed sometime in 2021. I believe the previous owners retired and sold their long term business. I came here a few times to get my dry cleaning done for all the wedding guest attire as well as a leather jacket. Service is good. Nothing special but it's just dry cleaning. They get done when they said it will get done. I think prices are very competitive. Given how dry cleaning businesses are these days, I will keep coming back here. Prices off the top of my head: - dress $10 - suit jacket and pants $10 - collared shirt $5 - leather jacket $53 I'll take a picture of the receipt when I find it :) The only reason why the business is getting 4 stars instead of 5 is that the one time I wanted my leather jacket dry cleaned, the lady who serviced me just kept slapping my leather jacket on the table for every syllable she said this "this, will, take, a, month" (so 5 slaps on my jacket). That was really weird but I was like whatever and got it done anyway. It was done in a month and I didn't mind since it wasn't a rush for me. read more

Only been here once, it's a few blocks from my home. I don't get things dry cleaned very often, so i do not have a "favorite" yet. But i needed to get a down comforter cleaned, and was looking for a new one to try. Came across this place and decided to go for it. The folks working both when I dropped off and picked up were very friendly!! Service was quick, in & out. And comforter was nicely done! Price was also very fair. I'll definitely be back!! I have used their services for many years and have been very pleased with their service. BUT! Looks like they changed owners not too long ago. Now - a complete misunderstanding! The receptionist does not speak or understand English at all. I came to sew in a skirt in the belt, the receptionist called an employee who understood me a little or pretended to be "a little". She suggested not to sew in, but simply to draw an elastic band into the inside of the belt. I agreed, she spoke to the receptionist for 15 minutes in Chinese or Korean - I don't know, and as a result she named the price - $28. For the elastic band drawn into the waistband of the skirt!! Seeing the bewilderment on my face, she smiled "guilty" and said that the prices did not depend on her, that this was the owner's desire. What is this?? Who do they take people for? Maybe in China or Korea (I don't know where they came from) this is how they treat customers, but in my country this is not acceptable. I feel insulted and humiliated. Cunning and shameless. I will never go there again and would not recommend to anyone. read more

I started using this dry cleaner because it was just down the road from my house, but I've continued to use their services because of they're very reasonable prices and friendly staff. The man at the counter, who I assume owns the business, has always remembered me by name, since the first time I came back to pick up an order. He also connected the dots that my mom, with the same last name, also drops her clothes here as well, and so he let's me know if her order is ready too so that I can grab it for her. Not to mention, they do a great job, and my clothes always come back clean! My company offers dry cleaning services that are around the same price and it's technically more convenient as I would just have to bring my clothes to work, but I choose to keep coming here because of the great service and I love knowing that I am supporting a local family business. I had a very negative experience with another tailor but WOW I had a great experience here! The man inside was very warm, friendly, and knowledgable. He showed me charts of different styles of hems for pants and jackets and gave me solid recommendations for each. I went home and they both fit like a glove. Having lived in Buffalo Grove for a few years now, I wanted to try out this local business when I needed a bridesmaid dress shortened in length. I brought it in on December 19 and was told by both the owner and recorded on my receipt that it would be complete by December 25. I had told him when I dropped it off that it was absolutely necessary that it be complete on time because I needed it for a wedding out of town that I needed to leave a few days early for. Since that was the Christmas holiday, I waited until the 27th to go in and pick it up. When I went in, a woman was working instead of the man I had spoke to when I dropped it off. I showed my receipt and she said it was not done and gestured to her left. There was my expensive bridesmaid dress all crumpled into a ball on the counter! I brought it in hung up on a hanger in plastic! I told her it needed to be complete by Monday, December 29th and she argued with me and said it would not be done until Wednesday. I explained that that would be unacceptable as I needed it before Wednesday and that I was given the earlier date and showed her the receipt that the owner had given me. She got an attitude with me and said that the guy doesn't know her schedule and when she works and that Wednesday was when it would be finished. I said I would be back Tuesday since I was leaving Wednesday. So I go back in Tuesday, December 30 and the same woman is there. She says that she does not have my dress because now, it's been send out for pressing! I was not told that it would be sent anywhere and would have preferred to just steam it myself if it meant getting the dress back at this point. She argues with me again and says it will not be ready until 3:30pm on Wednesday. Because Wednesday is New Year's Eve, I see that they have a sign saying they are closing early. I tell her again that this is ridiculous that this is now a week later then I was promised. This is a $175 dress that they seem to have no regards for. She then tells me that it will be there if I come back tomorrow or will call me if there is a problem. IF THERE IS A PROBLEM??!! There is no longer a window of time to allow for "a problem"! I go back today at 3:30, and finally the dress was there, but at this point I was so irritated that I had to change my travel schedule for a dress that should have been done last week. I would never, never go back to this place. Luckily for me there are plenty of good dry cleaners/ seamstresses in this area that I'm sure would happily take my business. read more

Wonderful spot for alterations! Incredibly kind people and quality work. I was in a pinch and needed a romper to be sewn and taken in at the top (it had torn) for a bachelorette party out of state. I was leaving later in the day. The incredibly friendly woman had me try on the romper and assured me that she could have it done in a few hours. It turned out beautifully and was ready in time for me to pick it up and make my flight later that day. When I picked it up the man who handled the payment was also extremely friendly and the price was very fair considering it was same day. So happy with these cleaners. I have been to at least 4 others in the last year and been completely disappointed by communication, quality and customer service -- seems every single time I'd go in to pick up items other cleaners would raise the prices, or claim not to understand what I'd requested. It was always an unpleasant used car sales-y type experience I dreaded. BUT -- I decided to try J&K for some curtain panels, and am so glad I did. From my first call with questions, politely and clearly answered, to John's follow-up after I dropped off the curtains...he took such personal pride in the job he was doing. I had botched up some of the panels by trying to wash them myself (ha!). He called me to explain that he was having trouble getting them to match up to the others, and NOT to raise prices, but with concern that we may not get the level of perfection he wanted to provide. Even said he could try some other things if I wasn't happy when I picked them up. I picked them up and of course the ones I mangled couldn't be perfectly pressed, but they are clean and infinitely better than when I dropped them off! John was extremely personable as well. I have taken my clothes to J&K for 21 years now. The prices for the quality of services are unmatched. A few years ago I moved and was closer to a different cleaners which charged a few cents less. But the quality was terrible - I was embarrassed to wear the shirts they tried to press. So I went back to J&K even though it's a little farther from my house. It's worth the drive.
