The place is good for an average palette customer. The Freakin Stehekin sandwich does sound like a ton of meat, but the meat and toppings here are pretty light. As a small women, I would definitely need a full sub to be a meal. Yes the mac and cheese is pre-made and then heated in a microwave. I used to eat it a few times a few summers ago before I started eating healthier. They do have a unique frozen yoghurt machine here with a ton of flavor options. Overall it's a fine choice for visitors in Chelan but as a resident I wouldn't make this my top choice. read more

My husband and I placed an order for pickup for two sandwiches and bag of chips. My husband went inside to pickup the order and when we returned to our hotel to sit down to eat, there was no chips. My sandwich was the buffalo sandwich which did not indicate it coming with any toppings which was why I ordered it. When I got it it was slathered with cheese mayo, tomatoes and onions which was not indicated in the menu. My husbands sandwich was glopped in mayo. I called the sub shop to see if I could just be credited for the chips. I let the staff member know these were not in our bag and she said "oh, the chips are just there for your to help yourself." I let her know that no one told my husband that when he picked up the order. I spoke with Olivia who said she was the Assistant Manager and no one of a higher authority has even shown her how to credit back a card. I asked that she call her manager as I did not want to drive in just to pick up a tiny bag of chips. I asked her to please call her manager and have them walk her through it (my order was $23 mind you for only 2 crappy sandwiches and chips so obviously I wanted my money back for what I didn't receive.) She called me back and said she called her manager and they said they do not do credit backs on cards because once they did that it charged someone an extra $100??? But they would be willing to get my address and send me a check...are you kidding me? I have worked in customer service for years AND had my own business, this is ridiculous. I told her to forget it and just keep the chips I guess and she said enthusiastically, "thank you!" I hung up on her as I was so frustrated. While my Freakin' Stehekan was not quite as engorged with meat as some of the pictures I've seen, it was absolutely delicious. The best way I can describe the experience is if you were to go to a restaurant and order a salad, bread and a meat entree, and then take some of each with each bite- and the flavors all worked in a wonderfully distinct and complimentary way. The other two things I'd add are: a) I really liked the order sheet they have at each table, as I am somewhat of a stickler of getting specifically what I want, when ordering, and b) the guy that waited on me was about as friendly a person as you could ever hope to meet. Full disclosure, I am from the north east, so everyone in Washington is friendlier than I am used to. The only negative I can think to mention is that the prices were a little high. I might not have felt that way had my sandwich looked like some others I see posted on here, but mine was, at most, 60% the size of those. Even so, I would come here again in a heartbeat. read more

This place is awesome! Quality ingredients and extremely FRIENDLY Staff & owner. Ate here 2 nights in a row and plan on going back. Freakin' Stehekan was amazing. My wife is very picky about her meat and usually only gets veggies at these types of places but she was so impressed with my sub that she got the turkey when we came back and loved it! My two young daughters are picky too and they love the Mac N Cheese. Subs are perfectly sized and filling, great value. My family and I ordered 6 sandwiches to go. The Italian sandwiches looked ok but we ordered two philly cheese steak sandwiches that were terrible. Very sorry to give a bad review but the phillys were very thin with very minimal meat, onions or peppers then lots of sauce. Very disappointing. It was all bread unfortunately. My parents have a place in Manson and I was pretty stoked to see a new place open up, since there aren't a ton of choices in this small town. So I thought the place was OK. The sandwiches are big. We had the "Freakin Stehekin", the Turkey with cheddar and the slide ridge sub. The vegetables are cut really really thin, it would have been nicer to see them a little thicker. The meat and veggies are just like any other sub shop. The bread is what is a real bummer. They need to look at two successful sub shops subway and jimmy johns that makes there own bread and I think they would really have something special here. Great little sandwich shop in Manson and this summer they have one in Chelan too! Of all our years here, I can honestly say we have never been here till this year. I'm a pretty good sandwich maker myself, Ha Ha! But on our last three week stay at our house, we didn't have much food in the frig our first day and we opted to go have lunch with another couple we had with us. The Freakin" Stehekin sandwich was really good. I mean REALLY good and we ended up coming back for another again in two weeks. The owner personality rocks! He is so pleasant and welcoming both times we ate in Manson. The staff of younger generation was a little quiet, but its obvious that the towns people love the Owner and I loved hearing him calling customers by their first names and sorta knowing what they were going to order. I am a fan of subs and this place ranks right up there with the best of them. If you've ever been to the Meconi's in Thurston County (there are several of them), you know good subs, but this place might be better. They do take a while, even when no one else was there, so I recommend calling ahead if you don't have time to chat with the friendly owners as they make your subs. Other than that they are some of the best tasting sandwiches I've ever had. If you are in Chelan, Manson, or anywhere near there, get to Green Dot and you will be in sub heaven. read more

For those of you who travel to the Lake Chelan area for the summer or winter months, you absolutely have to visit the Green Dot Sub Shop at least once! On my visit to Lake Chelan last summer with a buddy of mine, I enjoyed my first experience with the Green Dot's Subs. The signage out front is sleek and impossible to miss. Walking into the building, you can tell it has the potential to be a hidden gem. You are instantly greeted with a smile and asked if you have been to the shop before. Looking over the menu you quickly realize that there is a lot to take in. I decided to ask what was new, and what were the favorites of the locals. Cheeseburger sub. That can't be a real thing. I mean, why didn't anyone else come up with that? I had to give it a shot, Green Dot Style of course, which means it comes with all of the selected fixings by the owner. Let me tell you, that was the most delicious and impressive sub that I have ever had the pleasure of devouring. It almost doesn't feel right to call it a sub. An experience. That's what it is. Over the next three days of the long weekend I had 4 different subs on the menu, and some tasty cherry/almond swirl soft serve. Oh yeah, they have ice cream too!! Sunshine, delicious subs, and ice cream. Now all we need is a few of these Green Dots to take over subway on this side of the mountains and I'll be a happy camper! As for my recommendations; make sure you don't miss out on this experience if you are in the area! As for my ranking of the subs I tried; 1. Cheeseburger sub 2. The Metzger 3. The Freakin' Stehekin' 4. the chicken bacon ranch sub. Need I say any more? Yes, I do. Completely neglected talking about the sides! Mac & cheese with jalapeno bacon. Insanely delicious! Let me start off by saying, the moment you walk into the place, someone with a brilliant smile and friendly personality is behind the counter who can't wait to meet you. Green Dot Sub Shop does something amazing with their food, from the creative names to the high quality ingredients every sub is a standout against any other place. My first day in Chelan I had the Freakin' Stehekin, and I chose that sub because it is called a Freakin' Stehekin! I mean, where else do you find a sub named something like that?! It was creative and new, something I had to try. I took a bite and an explosion of flavor shot onto my taste buds. I came back to the shop 3 times over my stay and couldn't help but order the same thing again, but i knew I had to try something new. I also had the Chicken Bacon Ranch Sub and that thing was the Bomb, totally different than the Freakin' Stehekin but still something that makes my mouth water when I write this review about Green Dot Sub Shop. After my subs I had to make one of the toughest choices, what kind of Ice Cream to get? Yeah, they also have ice cream! There were so many choices and pairing I could make and created something new each time. The rich flavor of the ice cream was just rad and a perfect ending to a meal. And then the sides, they are not only delicious but impossible to stay away from. Also, if you so choose, toss a side onto the sub! yeah! Thats how awesome the place is! There is no "system" of how your sub should be, you make the choices and can customize the sub to anything you could imagine. It is truly the best sub shop i have ever had the pleasure of eating at. Sandwiches here are really good! I think there were 7 of us in our party and 7 different sandwiches. Every one of them was good. They did give us one wrong sandwich. My brother in law ordered a pulled pork sandwich and he got a cheesesteak sandwich instead. He said it was really good though and we'll probably go back one more time this trip so he can try again for the pulled pork sandwich. read more

If you are going just for ice cream, I wouldn't recommend until they make some changes. I was there on a very hot day, 103 degrees, in June 2016. I decided to stop and get my husband, my toddler and myself an ice cream. It was just me and my toddler as my husband was back at our condo. I asked about small bowls and was shown the cups they put them in. I got three small cups which were filled to the brim. Then, they put a dollop of vanilla ice cream on top to make it look like whip cream. When the ice cream was ready, I asked for a tray, I was told they don't have trays. No help from the person behind the counter on any suggestions on how to the get the ice cream home, just we don't have trays. Thanks. I go out to my car and try to get my toddler in the car seat and the three ice creams back to the condo which was 1/2 a mile away into the car without spilling. On a 103 degree day when the ice creams are over-filled and you don't have any carrying trays, you can imagine what happened. It all started to melt and overflow in the over-filled cups. By the time I got my 1/2 mile, I had ice cream all over the rental car and myself. I left a trail of melted ice cream from the car to the freezer in our condo. It took forever to get the rental car clean. At least it had leather seats. I had to take q-tips to the seams to get all the ice cream cleaned up and was still finding ice cream days later. Long story short, I would not recommend going there unless everyone who is having an ice cream is there and able to eat them on the way out. I didn't appreciate the lack of service on the part of the guy behind the counter. He could see I had a toddler but just let me struggle my way out of there. After all that, I didn't think the ice cream was anything special but then my taste buds may have been soured by having cleaned more of the ice cream than I ate. read more
