Green Drop - Located along Kamehameha Highway, next to the food trucks

Donation for a good cause…read more.. I drove past this Green Drop trailer on Kamehameha Highway as I headed towards the Ewa side of the island and thought: "Hey! This is something new!" Located along the line of Food Trucks in the parking lot where Sears used to be (look for the red and white Leonard's Malasadamobile), Green Drop is a familiar name because there's a trailer in Kaneohe at Windward Mall! Same idea! Bo was very helpful when I walked up to turn in my package of stuff. I was already in the system, so he entered my phone number onto the tablet, and I received a confirmation email with a printable receipt. That's so efficient! Bo stated that the two Savers on Oahu work in conjunction with Green Drop, which is a national company. The funds raised from donated goods go to various charities such as The Red Cross. Ahhh... interesting! I am motivated more to purge and visit the other Green Drop locations in Kapolei and Kailua! Note: this location opened on 8-1-24.

Wow. What a convenient location to drop off gently used clothes, household items and very very…read moresmall furniture (no particle board styles). Took a total of 2 minutes and that includes a very pleasant conversation and help from Angus, the tenant manning the trailer this Friday afternoon. Angus made the experience effortless (he spotted me when I parked nearby and even grabbed the items from me so I didn't have to walk them to the trailer). Thank you Angus! I will most definitely bring more donation items in the future. This trailer is sponsored by American Red Cross. Donating can be a bit of a pain/discouraging sometimes but this place was great. I even saw a lady drop a couple pieces of clothing off so no donation is too small. Hopefully more of these get posted up around Hawaii to help with reducing waste and providing more friendly places to donate gently used items. Highly encourage utilizing this service!

Helping Hands was so much closer to where we live compared to Salvation Army or Goodwill. I like that Helping Hands is truly a nonprofit organization because they don't sell your donated goods to the people who need them. People can come get the goods for free at helping hands. Staff were always very friendly and helpful with unloading my car. They are also very good about giving me the tax write off forms. (Salvation Army has you go to a website to get tax form and I couldn't even create an account successfully on the website. Kept getting error message.) Helping hands drop off times are Monday to Friday from 11 AM to 2 PM so the drop off window is pretty limited.

I always refer my clients there to get free household goods such as bedding, pots and pans, dishes, etc. I always drop off my donations there. Every Christmas - they have Adopt A Family and I love seeing our clients get items they wouldn't be able to get for their family since it is so expensive living here in Hawaii. They also have the Ready To Learn program which gives students school supplies for the upcoming year. They have other programs so please donate any household items or give a monetary donation if you are able! Thank you Helping Hands Hawaii!
