I had some clothing that's fairly new and plenty of books that I never opened which I will donate to green drop in white plains . I called first to see what's the rules and regulations when donating stuff and it only took 3 phone calls before someone picked up . Ok but stock in a box , seal it up and write clearly what's inside . A few parking spots , old looking small store and no one answering closed door . I left 3 boxes my the garage area and wrote my info on box . I reason I am giving 3 stars is because I got a courtesy call back with confirmation of drop off and a thank you . Very easy to make a drop donation here. Fast, efficient and men there to unload your car. If it is important to you that a donation receipt be obtained you may try elsewhere because my receipt has not come through by email. They do not give paper receipts. Highly recommend this location. Many other charities were not interested in good quality clothing and took no donations at this time. Green Drop also will pick up in home. read more

So frustrating! Set up 2 different dates/times- dragged everything down the the curb only to have them not show up either time. The second time I called and the department that I needed was on lunch.... The young man tried to help but didn't know what the code meant that the driver put in for why he didn't pick up. I was so happy to find a donation center that I could easily drop off clothing and goods at. There is no simpler service I've been able to find than Green Drop. I pack up my gently worn or unused clothing and books, drive to this location and the employees pick it up out of your car. My experience seems to be different than those who request pick ups. Also I've never had an issue with the employees friendliness.... But it seems like some reviewers are looking for a medal for donating things. read more

We put my bags out at 7 AM and took them in at 7:30 PM. no one came to pick them up. this has happened many times before and it also happened to my daughter-in-law. We will no longer be donating to this organization. From a city person perspective, donating my clothing and home goods here was a dream. They're open 10-5 daily. You pull into their ample parking lot. There are two staff who meet you at your car. Signs say to stay in your car (due to COVID-19). You hand them your donated items. You can also leave the items in your trunk for contactless pickup. They add your contact information on a tablet and you get a donation receipt emailed or texted to you before you leave the lot. I'll gather up more clutter for next time. I scheduled a pickup with GreenDrop, but they failed to show up for three consecutive weeks! I followed all the instructions: packing, labeling, and leaving the bags by the curb the night before. Each time, they called the day before to confirm but never showed up, nor did they inform me about any changes. When I called to follow up, they gave the same excuse each time--driver issues! I am convinced they are running some sort of scam, charging the nonprofit organizations for collections but not actually doing the job. I no longer trust them and will be taking my donations elsewhere. read more

Like everyone else has mentioned, I have been stood up. Twice. Both times I was told the driver came and didn't see my pick up items, even though it was a large load and very clearly marked. They offer the convenience of pick up for those of us in the city without cars to drop off, and yet the pick up seems to be quite the inconvenience. If they miss a pickup, you have to wait a week (or two or three, depending on their availability) for them to come back. I'm done lugging my donations to the curb at 6:30 am only to lug them back up the many stairs at the end of the day. read more

I decided to drop off some donations even though they would not pick up from my house. I live in a tiny hamlet in their pick up zone but because it's a different zip code they denied it. I went to drop off boxes and was told the boxes that are dropped off go to the Red Cross not the Vietnam Veterans. Only the boxes that are picked up go to the Veterans. Totally ridiculous, and I did not leave them. I do not want my donations going to the a Red Cross. Will find another charity that donates to our Vets. Terrible experience. read more

I have donated with Green Drop for years but never again. Lazy driver would not walk up steps to first landing where I had placed 10 medium sized clearly marked bags before 7:00 a.m. In the past Green Drop drivers have picked up from my front porch (which is 5 steps higher) When I called Green Drop around 5:30 p.m. about the "no show" I was told the driver did turn up but it was at the driver's discretion whether they wanted to do a pick up or not due to stairs. I am perplexed. Safe steps with railing & nice weather today. Somehow the mail carrier, Uber Eats, Fed Ex, Amazon, & UPS don't have an issue with my steps. After reading other reviews posted here, it is clear Green Drop is having some serious issues. Everyone, Don't stop donating or trying to help others- just find another organization that truly wants to help others & who will appreciate your generosity. Shame on you Green Drop! read more

Once again, I scheduled a pickup and GreenDrop did not show up to pick up the bags and boxes. When you schedule a pickup, there is only a 30% chance that they will actually come and pick it up. This is even after they send you a reminder the day before that they are coming, In addition, the driver did make a pick up from my neighbor 2 blocks away. Just moved to the area and had lots of gently used baby clothes and smaller appliances. We tried to go to another poplular donation store but they were only taking clothes due to Covid. We did a quick Yelp search and found Green Drop. I couldn't have been happier with the service. You pull up to their front office and there are two associates. They asked what we were donating and I said "everything in the car". I asked to help and the woman said please stay in your vehicle, we've got this. It was all of 2 minutes! Super easy, convenient and goes to help three different charities. Headed back today to donate more! read more

Anyone looking to donate quality items toward a good cause would be better served looking for organizations OTHER than GreenDrop. Despite having scheduled a pickup two weeks prior, our pickup never arrived. Worse, NO notice or same-day update was offered. I was left hanging around all day waiting for a pickup that wouldn't ever arrive . . . but how was I to know? Several different calls proved that Customer Service is a mess. In particular, "Otis" was well-meaning but uninformed and powerless. "April", on the so-called Escalation Team, said all the right things but, ultimately, was also non-transparent and unaccountable. The best they could offer was a lot of lip service and a second attempt two weeks later!?! Eventually, I got it down to 8 days later but that was too long for me under the circumstances. There are plenty of better-run, more efficient charity drop-off organizations out there. Pick one. I just did. Just not GreenDrop! read more

I scheduled a pick up with Green Drop in the past and did not have a problem everything went smoothly. Also, referred family to them, no issues. Assuming all would go smoothly as in the past, I scheduled a pick up 3 weeks ago. I received a confirmation for pick up between 7 am and 7pm. Everything was labeled properly and placed outside as they requested. They never showed up! When I called the following morning I was told the driver called and left a message the route was cancelled. I never received a message, they had the incorrect phone number, they called my sons cell number yet all previous calls were directly to me on my landline. After this mistake was corrected the following Monday was the next available pick up. We lugged all the boxes back inside. Are area had a bad rain storm predicted for the weekend I thought it best to cancel the pick up. Green Drop is closed on the weekend so I couldn't call to cancel, I sent an email. I received an email thanking me and confirming the cancellation. Monday morning my son on his cell receives a call that the driver is at the location and there wasn't anything outside! I called and explained to April that I cancelled the pick up. I further explained what had transpired with the phone number mix up, the frustration of no show the first time around. She was understanding and scheduled a pick up for again the following Monday ( today ) as Monday's are the only day they are in our area. Everything was stacked outside again, including, a total of 30 rubbermaid containers, boxes, and bags of clothes. I decided to call just to be sure they were coming since I had the issues prior. A girl named Heather told me there wasn't a scheduled pick up for me today!! I expressed my frustration, she apologized ( they often do ) I asked to speak to April. I was put on hold, April came on and said, "I understand YOU WERE under the impression you were getting a pick up today, we put in the request but logistics didn't get back to us for today, we can request a pick up for another date. I am beyond frustrated with this company. Very unorganized, a pick up can sound easy with they schedule one, but until this whole ordeal who knew they have a 3rd party ( transportation ) they call logistics. Seems logistics has to *approve* a pick up which then gets confirmed. It is beyond sad to think the needy are deprived because of a company that seems to have no consideration for those of us so willing to give! Sadly, they lost a customer with me, I am calling the BBB and I am going to donate else where. 3 strikes your out, no fun at 78 yrs old to be bubble wrapping, boxing, taping, and labeling, and then getting help to bring donations outside the night before only to have to lug everything back inside. So so glad I found this spot. I've been twice and it's been so quick and smooth.. the staff member was very helpful, and nice. It operates similar to a drive-thru. Also, they take DVDs and even BOOKS!! I have tons of awesome DVDs that I no longer use but I didn't want to throw them out. Hopefully someone can enjoy them. They offer several donors and you pick one. Both times I said Red Cross. I didn't want one but they can give you a receipt to use for taxes. read more

The website says they open at 830am. I called at 9am and the recording said they were closed, weird. I called to ask why they didn't pick up the bread maker I donated and the brand new, still in the package small mirror. Also, why do they want you to get up and put the stuff out at 7, if they don't open til 830? The one at my location doesn't open until 10am. But they still want the stuff out at 7. I was told they are not allowed to pull in the driveway, I live on a main street which is very busy, I have a circle driveway, so I don't understand why they want to put their drivers and others In danger. I arranged a pick up of a large donation to benefit Purple Heart Veterans. I made sure that I followed all of the guidelines. Everything was boxed, bagged, labeled, protected, and placed at the end of my driveway by 7:00AM as per instructions. It took weeks for me to gather items and package them correctly so as not to exceed 50lbs. The day of pick up, the Green Drop truck drove to my home and never picked up any of the items. I saw them and immediately called when I saw them leave. The representative made contact with the drivers that then said they were an hour away...an impossibility. Besides the wasted effort on part, the most concerning thing is that the veterans are the ones to ultimately suffer from this the lack of care and consideration of this organization. read more

i went there today for the first time and there was only one car ahead of me. I used to go to Goodwill in Elmsford, but it closed. They were also limiting what they could accept. At Green Drop, 2 guys took the items directly out of my SUV and placed them in a truck. They were courteous and friendly. Took 2 minutes and I drove off. I was surprised to see that Green Drop is a for-profit enterprise, but then they donate the cash value of your donated items to non-profits, Assuming that is what is really done (you cannot check on Guidestar because they are not a nonprofit), this model is terrific. It's win-win-win. Items get recycled - charity gets unrestricted cash donation - donor feels good not to waste. I highly recommend Green Drop. They make it easy and it's good for the environment. read more

It was difficult for me to give Green Drop such a low rating, but I felt that after my last two negative experiences with "phantom drivers" supposedly failing to pick up my donations to the organisation, it could serve as a wake-up call for some necessary administrative changes. I should add that up until these last two negative experiences, I have typically had a very good experience with Green Drop. I would have actually been the one writing about how professional and courteous the organization is, but I get the sense that from my latest experience and reading the other negative reviews, that there is some internal organizational mess that needs to be resolved. Failure to do so, could unfortunately damage the reputation of such an amazing organization. Scheduled a pick up and had everything in front of my house the night before ready to go. Waited all day for pick up that never happened. Called greendrop to see what was going on and they claimed that someone drove down my street at 1:50 pm and didn't see any donations. Excuse me how can someone miss 15 bags and a play house in front of my residence right by the sidewalk ?! The driver drove down the street and decided he didn't feel like getting out of his truck and kept going. I will never donate to them ever again. They were absolutely no help when I called either. Sad part is this wasn't the first time it's happened either. Lesson learned!! read more

Used to love this place and dropped off stuff frequently. There were several choices for you regarding to which organizations your donation would be made. I usually picked "wounded warriors". Just this week, I went to make a drop off and was told, there was no longer any choice and all donations would go to the Red Cross. I refuse to donate to the Red Cross and won't be back until the current policy changes. It's a shame but I will not donate to the Red Cross. read more

Staff is not very helpful or friendly. Went with a carload of of books/dvds/etc. Three employees literally stood there and watched my sister and I remove the boxes from the car. Only when I said..."This one is really heavy"...did one young man come to my assistance. I copied this directly from GreenDrop's web site: "When it is time to donate, you can bring your items to a convenient GreenDrop location - where a friendly attendant will remove them from your vehicle and provide a tax receipt from your selected charity ." Well, they certainly were not friendly....and 90% of the car was unloaded by my sister and I. I will still go and bring my donations there because the location is convenient, and I appreciate the fact that I get to pick which charity my donations go to. However.....at least I know now not to expect help OR friendly service! Perhaps management should look into better training for the employees? Just a thought. read more

Cleaned out my closets and needed somewhere to drop my clothing donations and wanted to know it was going to a great org--Green Drop provides donations to American Red Cross and Purple Heart. I drove up to the drop off area, several people came to my car (with masks of course because Covid) and grabbed all my bags/boxes out of my car. Terrell greeted me and took down my information and emailed me a receipt for my donations right then and there! So quick, so easy and I know this is going to a good cause!
