The server brought a bucket of ice for us to chill our champagne and she even gave us a little strawberry syrup per our request to mix with our champagne. The restaurant is clean and the noise level is moderate. I ordered the crème brûlée French toast with a side of beef bacon and scramble eggs with American cheese. Went on a Sunday afternoon as a group of 6. We only had a 10 minute wait, which was better than I expected. So thank you. The service was great, no complaints. I ordered the strawberry matcha, short rib Benedict, and a side of silver dollar pancakes. The strawberry matcha was good, it has cut up strawberries which got stuck in the straw. That made the drink hard to drink. The short rib Benedict was really good. It came with a cheesy hash on the bottom but I couldn't taste the hash. The short rib and hollandaise sauce combined were a salty which is why I think the breakfast potatoes would be a better base. The silver dollar pancakes were probably the worst part of my meal. At first I thought it was the syrup but the pancakes had a strange taste which is why I sent them back to get the breakfast potatoes. That was the best thing to offset the salty short rib. So order the potatoes instead of the cheesy hash as a base. I've been to a few of there locations before and I always forget it's cash only. They have an ATM available but in this day and age who carries around cash. That's just annoying to have to get cash. My personal pet peeve is group dinners where you have to calculate how much people owe, and being cash only makes it even worse. My other issue was that they have one price on their menu but the receipt had a different price. Yes it was a $2 difference but why? False advertisement much. The last thing that was annoying is that the menu says there's a 18% service fee but that's not gratuity. We asked the waitress and she say "yes and no"- yes it's gratuity but not it's not gratuity because it's split. Don't go. The manager Nita was the rudest person I have encountered in a very long time. The food was good, and our waitress Natalia was wonderful. However Nita had a nasty attitude from the moment we walked in the door. When we asked if we could have another chair for a guest who was arriving later, she said no and said she could not hold the table next to us either. I asked her what the solution was then, she just kept saying she couldn't hold the table- which we never asked her to do. When our waitress added a chair and we made space on one side of the table for it without putting it in the aisle, Nita came and without saying a word to us lifted the chair over her head and took it away! I've never seen anything like that. As I was leaving I asked Nita for her name and said I had some comments for her. She said her name was Nita and said to me "please don't come back." After my friends and I spent $200 in her restaurant. This woman is incredibly unprofessional and should stay in the back doing dishes instead of being forward facing with customers. Recently I ate at this location. To say it was a horrible experience doesnt say enough. It started at the doors, when the manager Nita was so unwelcoming at the DOOR. We inform our waitress Natalia. She advises we could either pull up an extra chair or slide over a 2 person table across from us. "How long will it b before your extra person gets here" we do t know maybe 20 minutes. She then says we can hold a table that long. Here is where the issue began. My first brunch of 2024 was in Philadelphia, since I spent New Year's Eve there. This place was spacious with plenty of seating, popular, yet able to accommodate our decently sized group. The interior was cute. I know I wanted one of the specialty coffee drinks, and went with the Salted Caramel Mocha Latte. This consisted of caramel syrup, espresso, steamed milk, sea salt, topped with whipped cream and drizzles of caramel / chocolate sauces. Absolutely delicious with strong taste of both flavors, creamy and sweet coffee. The Skillets sounded really good, so I ordered the Kitchen Sink one, which included 3 scrambled eggs, sausage crumbles, gruyere cheese, potatoes, peppers, onions, topped with sausage gravy, jumbo biscuit, in a cast iron skillet. This was HUGE and full of great, bold flavor. The eggs were cooked perfectly, sausage was tender and well seasoned, veggies were fresh and just the right consistency, while the biscuit was flaky, buttery, and the cheese was wonderfully melty. All the ingredients worked beautifully together, making for mouthwatering bites. I took more than half home and it tasted just as good the next day. Service was great. I first bookmarked Green Eggs Cafe because of their specialty french toasts, but I ended up getting something else entirely. I wanted something savory but was warned the skillets would be huge. I split a weekly special, the Chicken Chilaquiles Skillet, with a friend. Two of our other friends got The Cure and The Kitchen Sink, which were huge too. Definitely plan to share if you get one. You can maybe finish it if you're a big eater. My friend and I also split another weekly special, the Mango Empanadas. They're more like mango cheesecake empanadas, though. I felt that the breading was too salty and the mango flavor didn't stand out in the cheesecake filling. I also tasted a bit of the Cinnamon Bun French Toast from a friend, which was too sweet for my tastes but did taste like cinnamon buns. Well done. Overall, Green Eggs Cafe has some unique dishes, but I don't think the quality is worth it for the price. It's also a little pricey for a cash-only joint. Stumbled on this place nestled on a Brewerytown cozy corner actually in search of a different restaurant located on the same street. Being a Dr. Seuss fan there was no way we were going to walk passed without checking out what it was all about. One look at the menu and our original restaurant plan was quickly ditched. Who doesn't love breakfast, brunch and lunch served all day?! The menu offers a lot of options: sweet, savory or both! With coffees, lattes, teas and smoothies to complement your dining choice. Service Review: This place used to be our favorite neighborhood brunch spot but today was something else. The guy at the door was not there when we walked in and so we waited inside the door. The place was truly empty with so many places to easily seat us. He came up to us and told us we have to go outside to wait and so we followed him out to the front area. I don't really have much hesitation recommending this Green Eggs Cafe. Whatever customer service that was lacking in other reviews seems to have been rectified. The wait on a Friday afternoon (around 1pm) was about 15 minutes. The first thing that really hit me was the noise. It was almost unbearably loud. And it wasn't just from large groups of people talking. The servers stations loaded with plates, glassware, etc and even sinks in the dining room created a din of clings and clatter that was overwhelming. The kitchen itself is behind closed doors, I don't know why their dishes and sinks aren't too. Strange. To make matters worse they were only using one side of the dining room instead of spreading us all out which surely would have helped with the noise and COVID precautions. I have never seen a Chicken & Waffles Benedict before but don't like poached eggs so I was torn because I wanted this dish. To my happy surprise I could get the eggs scrambled and with my choice of American or Cheddar cheese. I also got the regular potatoes with onions and peppers as my side. I was happy with the eggs, potatoes and waffle but the chicken breast, while generous in portion and nice crispy texture, needed serious seasoning. It didn't give that expected contrast of savory and sweet only crunchy and sweet. The date like his dish overall as well, he had the Kitchen Sink, but he said the biscuit was hella dry. Green Eggs is one of my most coveted brunch spots after years of dining in Philly. There are plenty of brunch spots that look nice in photos on social media but don't uphold the quality in person. However, this spot encompasses every part of a perfect brunch (besides still being cash only ). Even better, there are now five locations within Philly. My most recent visit was even better than others I've had in the past. We arrived shortly after the brunch rush at 1PM and lucked out with no wait time. They still have the standard menu with great variety as well as a seasonal menu that changes periodically. The entrees here are super decadent, so I always recommend getting a few items at the table to share. My friend and I went for one sweet and one savory entree to share together as well as a few of our own sides. We got "The Cure" Skillet, Cinnamon Bun French Toast and sides of Turkey Bacon and Grits w/Cheddar and Cream. Every part of our meal was great. Despite being marketed as a hangover meal, each component of the skillet was high quality and flavorful. The Turkey Bacon is a much better quality and thicker cut than what you get elsewhere. Grits are an afterthought at many spots, but the creaminess and tanginess of these were delicious. The french toast maintained inner fluffiness with outer crispness despite being soaked in delicious toppings. Many brunch spots have opened throughout the city recently, but very few do it as well as Green Eggs does. I'm extremely glad to see that the quality has stayed consistently great over the years. The food here is pretty heavy for frequent visits, but it's a disservice not to dine here if you're in Philly. read more

The negatives of limited capacity are 1. longer wait times and 2. being kicked out of your table as soon as you are done eating. The food we got was excellent for 2 out of 3 of us. I had "The Cure" skillet, which was basically just a gigantic skillet of trash (in the best way possible - see photo). The short rib was juicy and tender and I really enjoyed my meal. One of my friends got the banana stuffed French toast and loved it. It came with raw banana, cooked banana, banana chips, banana cream...it was intense, and she gobbled up as much as she could fit in her stomach (the portion was huge). My other companion got the burger and said it was as dry as a hockey puck. If you're coming to GEC, I suggest one of the insane French toast combinations or the crazy skillet that I got. They are cash-only and will add an 18% gratuity for any bill over $50. They also have three large benches outside, which are great when you're waiting for a table. All I have to say is Yum. The food was amazing and the drinks will make me come back again. The service wasn't terrible but our waiter just needed a little more personality. Overall still a 5 out of 5 read more
