Green Engine opened up just one month after I started my first job out of college. Back then, Green Engine, with its friendly staff, Rival Bros. coffee, and pretty good pastries, felt young and bohemian, an oasis for college students and employees. Five years later, Green Engine has grown and blossomed. Now a clear neighborhood favorite drawing young families and old folk as well as their original collegiate clientele, Green Engine's whole operation feels slicker and more polished. The pastry selection has grown significantly and their new supplier is a wizard: everything, from the shiny brioche au chocolate to the visually stunning and pleasantly sweet cinnamon brioche, to my personal favorite, the pistachio financier, is excellent. The coffee remains delicious, and the seasonal drink selection features cute, punny names and often tastes quite good. The staff, though generally fairly friendly, isn't quite as quick to remember a regular's face as they used to be, but that comes with the much-deserved constant flow of people from morning to close. All in all one of my favorite coffee shops ever, and I always look forward to my next visit. read more

Stopped in today for a Pumpkin Honey latte and was pleased with the service and overall atmosphere of this place. My latte looked beautiful, but tasted pretty weak; I guess I'll have to add an extra shot of espresso next time. I liked that there were alternative milk options, but I wish they had coconut milk as an option. I ended up trying oat milk and tasted a majority of the oat in my latte and none of the espresso or seasonal Pumpkin Honey flavoring. The pastries looked fresh and delicious and there was a wide variety of food options on the menu as well. I think I'll give this place another try when I need a midday pick me up or a coffee shop work atmosphere. There were plenty of outlets for charging too, so perfect for remote work. read more

I have heard nothing but amazing things about this place, but aside from a quick bagel and kombucha, I've never had the full pleasure of dining here. I totally intend on properly checking the place out sometime! However, holy crap, the guy with the reddish hair and glasses at the counter today was unspeakably rude. Literally straight up disrespectful, barking at the customers. He asked me if I knew what to order literally the moment I got in line and I told him to give me a moment, to which he promptly responded by asking the people behind me if they were ready (who literally arrived right after me) and legit getting pissed off when they weren't. I've never seen someone have THAT much of a problem from doing their job? Holy crap, maybe don't do customer service dude. We all have bad days, but nothing excuses that behavior. My friend told me when she ordered he took the card out of her hand when she wasn't sure how to use the chip reader for her card. I'm trying to be as empathetic as possible, but that dude was beyond uncool. I hope he didn't ruin it for anyone else. However, the other gentlemen that's at work prepping food and drinks were very focused and pleasant, and they were very busy and understandably under pressure. The young man who was preparing drinks was very sweet, and started my order for me as soon as I told him what I wanted (didn't feel like talking to angry glasses over there), and he apologized for the cashier's behavior and said "we're usually all much happier than that." I've been visiting Green Engine Coffee for about a year now and I am never disappointed when I go. This trendy and cozy space attracts students from local colleges, older adults, and families with young kids. Every time I've been I have been greeted by super friendly baristas. I am a bit partial to iced oat milk lattes because not every coffee shop offers oat milk yet, so when I have the opportunity I seize it! I've had friends who have ordered special summer iced teas, iced coffees, and iced americanos and they've all given them their stamp of approval. I've also enjoyed some of their pastries, including a scone that truly acted like a meal, I was so full after eating it! With a cozy atmosphere and a wide selection of coffee and pastries, Green Engine is my favorite coffee shop on the mainline by far. read more

Went this morning around 8 and there was already a line. People were settling in to do work love to see it. However no food no pastries at all and no explanation as to why. As a caffeine addict and coffee shop frequenter, I came here to try something new. With my laptop and book in hand, I hoped to find a new place to camp out and get some work and reading done. These hopes we're immediately diminished when I opened the door to raging pop music. It's 2020 folks, can we leave the loud bubblegum pop and synth sounds to the shopping malls where we expect them? I tried to stick it out and blast my headphones with mellow sounds to tune it all out... No success. Love this beautiful cafe with so many plants, delicious drinks, and yummy food. My favorites are the oolong tea (sooo delicious with a splash of sugar) and their avocado toast! This is one of my favorite coffee shops. The noise level is coffee shop appropriate, the staff is very friendly, and you can always find parking. Granted it a drive from my apt in Philly, it's worth it for the Giant shopping on the drive out here. The bagels here are delicious and the coffee is always hot and roasted perfectly. There is always plenty of places to study or read. During the school year it can be a bit more crowded due to the college right across the street, but seating is always available. read more

The Main Line rarely disappoints when it comes to local neighborhood coffee shops and I like to switch it up from my usual every now and then. From the outside, you'd never know it, but Green Engine is a zen paradise within. There is plenty of dreamy natural light, relaxing wall hangings--even a wall made of bright green grass! I ordered a Vanilla Latte and a Mushroom & Gouda Panini, both of which pleased me tremendously. The staff are warm and happy to help! There is lots of space to work and reliable WiFi, which make this a great spot to hit the books. My only complaint is that it can be a bit distracting, due to the large open layout. If you face the center of the restaurant, you absorb everything going on around you, and there are no closed off or more private nooks if you need a little more peace and quiet. Still, this place is absolutely adorable and worth a visit with your most trusted coffee date buddy! read more

A popular place also with local students as I have seen others out of coincidence here as well. In terms of the actual drinks, I have been here asking for chai lattes multiple times and it seems as though the service is inconsistent. I was looking for the characteristic blue drink with some latte art but depending on the barista sometimes it'll be brown and have no art on it. Sometimes there's too much cinnamon as well. This is my new favorite coffee shop. Let me start by saying that parking is a little tricky. I live in the city, so obviously I have to drive to get here and I struggle to find parking that is free. Pro-tip to come on Sundays, so you don't have to pay the meter. There is ample seating, so you can post up and get work done. Every table also has it's own outlet!!! V important, I know. The aesthetic is bright and earthy. I love the charm - it is so darling. Not to mention, the coffee is to die for a very affordable prices! Highly recommend! OOOH LA LA!!! Green Engine Coffee makes the best latte I ever tasted in this area. It was so good that I took a sip, swished it around my mouth like Listerine and spit it back in the cup just to drink it a second time. Don't try that at home... Try that at Green Engine Coffee ! This coffee shop is great if you're looking for a work environment where your surroundings are really energized. There's music playing, tons of students chattering, some kids with parents and employees who are whistling away as they work. You can really lose yourself in your work if you thrive in that kind of work setting. The drinks are ok. Not the best and I definitely would not come here just for the drinks. You could ask for a better space for a coffee place. Plenty of space I should add, calm and cool combination of colors, the decor is friendly green and modern. Has huge and comfortable benches in one side of the wall with great little wood tables. Can't go wrong with La Marzocco machine and a friendly Barista at the helm. They offer syphon brewing which I think is great! I will have to come back and give it a try. Today a just settled for a nice cappuccino, it was pretty straight forward, no omplex flavors or coffee over powering the milk or the other way around. 3,50$ capuccino, the macchiato is 3,00 bucks and the espresso is 2,50( I wish that they would realize not only this place but most places that the espresso and macchiato should be the same price) Anyhow, this place is great and has more than the usual amenities than most coffee places and is simply a good place to lounge, work and have good coffee with great service. Definitely busier than I anticipated as it was my first time there this week. Many options to sit which makes it a good place for meetings, catching up with friends, etc. I just ordered an iced coffee. I found the roast to be bitter tasting and none of the creamers were full so I didn't get to make the coffee to my liking. Coffee and pastries are a bit overpriced. Not many pastry options when I went. There was one regular croissant, my almond croissant, and two muffins left at around 2pm. Chai tea latte wasn't the best I've had either, but I can say the cappuccino and the chai latte were very aesthetic. Have been to Green Engine many times and the service has always been a little lackluster. I was willing to overlook it because the coffee is good and I also liked the food (when it finally came out). Visited today and found they no longer carry gluten free bread. I get that. Then I asked for either of their salads and they were out of both at 12:30 pm in the middle of the lunch hour. Credit card machine was down, what I ended up ordering took forever, staff was seemingly on a different planet altogether. Just an overall bad experience. I recently moved to the area and needed to find a local coffee shop where I could relax, get some work done, and - most important - drink some really good coffee. Green Engine is my place for exactly that. I was blown away by the variety of their menu and of their handcrafted beverages, which are made with natural, house-made ingredients/syrups. I tried the "honey pumpkin spice latte" and loved that it was a more natural, less sugar-heavy version of the classic PSL. I've also tried their toasts and salads and am always impressed with the beautiful plating style and unique flavor combinations! The food here is honestly better than at some full time restaurants/cafes! Plus, the staff here is amazing - always offering a friendly smile and helpful suggestion. This small store had good seating but the temperature of the store was too warm. There are some food options but we just ordered coffee. I had my usual latte and it was good. My fiancé and I love rolling out of bed and walking around the corner to Green Engine on weekends. Drinks: my favorites are the matcha and kombucha offerings. The chai is tasty, but forgettable... I crave a lot of spice in my chai, and Green Engine's blend is pretty mild. Food menu highlights: all of the sandwiches are great; I love them with the pickled vegetable side. The chia pudding bowl is delicious, and so is the hummus plate. We've never gone wrong with any of their pastry offerings- I'm partial to the rotating selection of "pop tarts." We always make time for Green Engine! Adorable café right in the heart of Ardmore on the MainLine. The cappuccino's and latte's are fantastic, they always have tasty treats available (I haven't found a GF option that isn't wrapped in plastic yet) and ample amounts of seating. The atmosphere is great and the music is always enjoyable. Would love if they got onboard with the "single-use plastic ban" that's starting to pop up around the country. Also, they tend to grab for the paper cups even when you say you want your drink "for here", so just make sure to be extra clear about wanting a glass cup or mug. read more

I went here for the first time and I ordered a panini and it came with a bag of potato chips. It is a super cute place with a nice, clean, trendy environment. The panini wasn't as pressed as I would have liked and wasn't melted to perfection(as a panini should be) It was very flavorful but I would've liked it melted and pressed more. My friend got an ice coffee which comes with a no straw lid (which for those who wear lipstick is a turn off) overall, I would go again and maybe try a tea or coffee. read more
