An update to my review of April 2016: It has been over two years since Nathan and the Green Gallery Guys re-did our front yard, so here's an update. We went with young plants to save money, and kept a lot of existing plants that had been struggling from neglect through the years. Thanks to the drip system that Nathan recommended, the aforementioned old plants are doing great (for the first time!) and overall the garden needs very little maintenance. A couple of things died, but that's to be expected, I think, and the surrounding plants filled in nicely. We're happy with the way the garden looks and, as mentioned, it's been very little work to maintain.

3 inches out of square. making laying the stone work impossible

What an awful company to work with. We hired them to build a deck with drainage and electrical work. It was clear right away that the owner, forman and onsite crew were not on the same page. sloppy work starting with a out of square foundation and forgetting to add utilities before the pour led to constant discussions and workarounds with onsite crew only to be changed by owner/forman after I left the site. Lots of items in the contract left undone. My personal tool went missing, and it took weeks to get them to come back to fix issues and return the tools. Nathan the owner called me a liar. Who does that to a customer? Now that things have dried out enough to lay the stone we have found even more issues and the company owner while admitting the mistakes won't fix them. Not worth the aggravation.

We recently completed a landscaping project that included a new front lawn, a backyard fire pit and…read morefire ring, an expanded planting area, and new irrigation in both the front and back yards. Overall, we are happy with the finished project. The fire pit and planting area turned out beautifully, and the lawn looks great. There were a few dead spots in the new grass, but the team returned and repaired them. There were a couple of details that did not fully meet our expectations. We had a propane box installed to supply the fire pit, and we were disappointed with the cover, which was made from only two large standard tiles and does not look as finished as we had hoped. We were also surprised that much of the irrigation system was installed using flexible tubing rather than Schedule 40 pipe that was trenched and buried. Since much of the tubing is covered only by bark, we are concerned it could be damaged as people walk through the area. That said, Nick did a good job helping us plan the project and was very responsive whenever we had questions or concerns. Despite a few areas that could have been handled differently, we are pleased with the overall outcome.

We had a fantastic experience working with Simon Lee at Black Diamond on our backyard project over…read morethe past month, and we couldn't be happier with the level of service he provided from beginning to end. Our project was fairly extensive -- it included building retaining walls, flattening and creating more usable space in our backyard, and installing paver stones. Simon stood out to us from the very beginning, when we were still meeting with different companies and deciding who to hire. He was never pushy or overly sales-focused. Instead, he took the time to understand what we wanted, walked us through his design proposals, and offered thoughtful recommendations based on his experience. We really liked his ideas and ultimately felt comfortable trusting his expertise and recommendations for the space. That same level of attention continued throughout the entire project. Simon checked in with us every single day and always showed up with a smile and a positive attitude. Whenever he came over to discuss the project or answer questions, he never made us feel rushed. He was always willing to take his time, talk things through, and make sure we were comfortable before moving forward. He was also incredibly flexible and accommodating with our schedules, which we really appreciated. With a project of this size happening in your backyard for several weeks, having a project manager who is accessible, patient, and communicates consistently makes such a huge difference. Simon was quick to respond whenever we had questions and made the whole process feel much easier to navigate. What impressed us most was how he handled the final stretch of the project. During the final inspection, we brought up a few questions and concerns, and there was never any defensiveness or hesitation. Simon listened, took our concerns seriously, and quickly came back with solutions to make sure we were happy with the finished project. That level of accountability and follow-through really reinforced that we had made the right choice. Simon is professional, patient, approachable, responsive, and genuinely seems to care about both his clients and the quality of the finished project. From helping us envision the backyard during the design stage to making sure everything was addressed at the very end, he was there throughout the entire process. We really enjoyed working with Simon and would absolutely recommend asking for Simon Lee if you're considering a project with Black Diamond. Thank you, Simon, for taking such great care of us and helping transform our backyard!

This morning, my mom…read morecalled me in a total panic because our sump pump had completely stopped working (darn redwood frawns!). We ended up with a flooded garage and basically a mini-lake forming around the house. It was a mess! I called Muneer from Intuitive Landscaping, and he was absolutely incredible. He was literally about to head off on a trip, but he dropped everything to come over and help us out. He even called in Victor, who came in on his day off to replace the sump pump, get all the water out, and just take care of the entire situation for us. Honestly, it's so rare to find a company that genuinely cares this much about their customers. I just want to say a big thank you to the whole Intuitive Landscaping team. If anyone needs any landscaping or outdoor work done, I can't recommend them enough!

He gave me a very reasonable quote which he honored, and we got it scheduled. A few days later, his team came out and worked their tails off for a solid week. The results are amazing. They installed a lawn where there used to be gravel, built a new gate to the side yard, installed transformers to run low-voltage nights automatically when it's dark, and redid a lot of the irrigation. The yard looks so much better, and I'm looking forward to spending the summer out in it. I highly recommend Oscar and his team!

Garden Mamas - Tamara Qirreh, Owner, tree hugger and plant lover. Bringing people outdoors to enjoy their own personal oasis, one plant at a time.

We hired Garden Mamas to maintain our mature hillside garden. While we thought it a bit strange…read morethat we had a different crew out most every time, we were assured by Tamara that she had communicated what needed to be done - she was managing the crew. This method seemed to work mostly, although we had to tell the crew each visit what to do, as mostly instructions had been partially communicated. One day, she sent two new people. We told them to trim two bushes on the stairwell and to pick up the leaves, nothing else. This was also communicated to Tamara a few days prior, but like most times, the crew seemed clueless as to what to do. When they were done and had left, we discovered that they had BUTCHERED our garden - most of five++ years of growth was cut away and in a most unappealing fashion. Her crew ripped out plants that a previous crew had installed only a month prior, had trimmed four bushes that were covering an unsightly wall into lollipop shapes, completely exposing the wall, trimmed new growth off of once per season budding plants without any care for shape or aesthetics, butchered slow growing manzanita plants that may never recover, etc etc etc. We were appalled and contacted her. Tamara responded to our concerns, but would not or could not take personal or financial responsibility for making us whole. She told us that the crew she sent was inexperienced and had never worked on a personal, mature garden (only on storage facilities and office complexes), and that she did not have the $$ to replace the plants destroyed or to pay for someone else to replace the plants (as we told her that we could not work with her anymore). We thought about going to the CSLB so that we could at least recover her bond, but did the time/money calculus and finally settled on her paying for two plants to be replaced, at another landscaper's wholesale cost (approx $500). So far, it has cost us over $10000 to get the garden back to where it was, and it will take a few years for it to look as good as it did prior to November 2025. We tried to support this independent, woman-owned business; but her model of a different crew every time coupled with an inability to run her business in a fiscally responsible manner makes it impossible for us to recommend her to ANYONE

The project was completed within the time she estimated. Invoicing/payment process was clear and easy. I provided photos of the types of plants I liked (from other people's yards) and they provided a list of recommendations with descriptions and pricing as well as placement suggestions. I appreciated Tamara checking in on me a a few times after they planted to see how things were going and reminding me to turn off the water during the rainy season. It's seven months later and I am still enjoying admiring and tending to my plants as they grow.
