I was a regular customer years ago and knew the store manager at time time Jim Oleary very well. Now under the watchful eyes of Greg Gaven who back then a member what was known as the Super Mangers, Greg is hands on and active in every department. The pleasure was seeing the employees from years past. Always a smile and amazed they remember my wife and I. Tipping my hand a bit,, my rivial the Seafood department,, the best always but the display worked unmatched by any I have seen. High marks Frankie Fish.

There is one employee that outwardly complains that he hates the store, hates management and does not care about customers. Today, he stated, "if the store does not care about the meat department, I do not care about customers". First, why does Star have employees that talk openly and very loud about how they hate management and their work environment. This is something a customer should not be told by an employee. I informed the manager at the store (5-8-2026) and he just looked a me. Someone at Star needs to address this environment.

One day last year I brought my daughter there, and in walked Steve Carell. That was a shock to both of us. He was so friendly to all the customers that it was a joy to see him. I meant to go back this August because that was the month we saw him. Other things I like there are amusing cocktail napkins and greeting cards. Also, the candy corner of the store reminds me of penny candy stores when I was a kid and is a nice place for children to visit. And the last time I was there I discovered that they had some good wines that I had never seen elsewhere. It is certainly one of Marshfield's treasures.

Previte's offered to stock some of the things that would pull us away occasionally! Ron and team keep the produce on point. Routinely get deli meats, and various sandwiches. Everything is always great. Life causes a frequent need for premade foods and entrees. Calzones are awesome. Pizza is good in a pinch. Have had many premade entrees and lots of good options. Cheese, Montillio's desserts, Nona ice cream, and all the fresh meats keep us coming back. Everyone is always friendly and accommodating. Sometimes the lines get long but the staff is quick to open registers to move people along. Inside is great plenty of room for them to add more. Easy interior seating if you want to stay there and eat. Looking forward to seeing how to use the space to offer us more. Tons of local events outside, bringing local artisans and shops to the exterior. They can open an entire wall so you can walk into the produce area. All in all a great fixture in the community

Scratch tickets hanging behind the counter was a weird touch. The sandwiches were just okay. I was expecting worse after leaving to be honest. I think they should clean the store, stop egregious price gouging, get better higher quality products in there like craft beers or imported items or something I cant get elsewhere easily and maybe i would come back.
