Food from their restaurant is decent, I really like their rice it's different from others I have tried but I absolutely LOVE their grocery store, they products I have never heard of before ie: Pistachio Spread which is packed with nutrients, their spread is 90% Pistachio, they have nuts that are soaked in high quality honey not the garbage they sell us at the grocery store made with Kayro syrup, they have quality dates, my favorite are the soft dates plus the owners are very friendly & knowledgeable apparently because he told me not to eat too much of the honey comb as it well mess with my stomach, after Googling it apparently too much is very harmful to a person's health so I appreciate him telling me . read more

I have one kid who loves to try foods from other countries, and I am delighted that we tried Green Land Grocery. We ordered falafel, a beef shish kabob sandwich, and an Afghani burger. All delicious! While we waited for our food, we wandered around and looked at the plethora of interesting packaged foods and grocery items on the shelves, as well as the rugs, clothing items, hats, beautiful teapots, etc., that they stock. We left with our food plus several items we couldn't resist taking home to try. The service was excellent as well. The man we spoke to was so kind and explained everything to us patiently. This place is tucked away in a strip mall at 84th and F streets. I'd read other yelper reviews and wanted to try some of their made-to-order food. So I go in and the store is actually pretty tiny, but stocked with all kinds of Middle Eastern goods. A lot of canned and jarred food with quite a bit of frozen/refrigerated offerings thrown in for good measure. I didn't see a hot case or a kitchen, so I had to ask the man working there (I assume he's the owner) if they had hot food. He said yes and pointed to a laminated menu taped to the front counter. Now we're in business! I ordered a shourma beef ($3.50) and a falafel ($3) and the man disappeared in the back for about 5 minutes. So I browsed a bit, grabbed a couple cans of Vimto and a candy bar -- this needs to be a complete meal, right? Once he returned to ring me up, he mentioned to check out his Facebook page for weekly updates on their stock, which changes fairly often from what I gathered. Also, if you don't want to wait on your food order, he suggested calling ahead. Cool fava beans. So when I got home and dived into my food I was happy to find out that he makes a mean shourma beef. It's subtly spiced and tasty processed beef, some veggies and sauce wrapped in homemade flat bread. The falafel was along the same lines, just swap the beef for -- you guessed it -- falafel balls. Humble and delicious -- the best kind of food out there, in my opinion. I'll definitely back soon. And, like Sarah G said in her review, I'm dying to try their pizza! read more

I was led here by Matt's review with the express purpose of acquiring a sandwich. And I left with not only a chicken shawarma wrap, but also a box of Turkish delight, some kinder chocolate bars, a large jar of pickled vegetables, a can of hummus, 2 cans of fava beans, and a container of pitted dates. All for $17. My sandwich was good, a little messy, a little spicy. And something hinting buffalo wing sauce kept in the forefront of the flavor department. It was good enough that I had to sit in the parking lot and eat it right away - also I was famished. Washed down with some chocolate and dates, pretty great all in all. What I'm dying to try are the pizzas... which you can call ahead to order. They're open until 8 or 9, depending, per the owner. I can't believe this shop has been around a little over 3 years and cranking out delicious sandies right under my nose (proverbially). They must get a lot of to go orders, because when I asked for a sandwich the response question was 'how many?' I'd recommend knowing what you want going in, if possible, and calling ahead. I decided to go here after reading Will, Sarah and Matt's reviews of this place, not knowing that it has been here for 4 years, and I was not disappointed. I was in here for a few minutes before a gentleman appeared from the back. At first pretty introverted, Bassim soon warmed up to telling me about his store. Originally from Jordan, he spent a few years in Saudi Arabia, before trying to emigrate out of the Middle East. 20 years ago the US accepted him in Florida, and after 6 months gave him a brochure of a land full of lambs, goats and grasslands, and soon came to Omaha. He has loved it ever since, and bought this store from a friend 4 years ago after working at various places throughout town. I ordered a Beef Shourma sandwich and a Spinach and Cheese pie, both of which were excellent, seasoned like I would expect, cooked in the back of the store. As many times as I have driven on 84th St., I never noticed Green Land grocery until yesterday. It's located in a little strip mall at 84th & F. There's no seating so it's strictly takeaway, which works well since the biggest part of the public space is Mediterranean grocery items. The takeaway food is ordered at the back counter. Although it says bakery on the window, I didn't see any baked goods except things like packaged cookies. I ordered the beef shawarma sandwich & while it was being prepared, I wandered around the small store looking at an amazing array of foods I had never seen before. Bookguy wanted the kabobs but they didn't have it so he opted not to get anything. The store had different kinds of drinks like rose water and mint water. A freezer/ refrigerator case had items I couldn't recognize without taking them out, which I didn't do. I also saw a lot of spices including spice mixes for homemade shawarma. However, I will probably always opt to get mine at a restaurant since I don't have a vertical spit at home. There were packages of dates, too, which seemed like a very authentic Mediterranean food. I really liked the shawarma sandwich. It was wrapped in lightly toasted pita with lots of beef, tomatoes, and a tan sauce that was most likely tahini. It was generously portioned and I had to save a bit for later. While I was perusing the shelves I found a box of tea and coffee cookies from Spain which I decided to buy. So my desert was a few lightly sweet galletos. Next time I'll try a meat pie. read more

The meat pies are awesome. The dough is made from scratch. Avoid the pizza! Worst pizza I have ever had. The dough was pre-bought frozen. The toppings consisted of mainly cheese and onions very little meat. Just get the meat pies they are good read more

Not impressed with the chicken shwarma here. Little bits of chicken that looked like it was left out for hours then cooked. The chicken came with a tiny 'salad' which consisted of iceberg lettuce and a dab of yogurt then some other weird side of diced cooked canned tomatoes with chunks of red onion. All for $8.75! Today I visited GREENLAND GROCERS and I really enjoyed my visit. The owner, who I will call the boss, was very helpful in helping me find my items (I left my eye glasses at home) and I found everything that I needed and then some. I like that that had an assortment of lamb products which is hard to find in the grocers. And, they had plenty of yougurt milk which other mid eastern / mediterranean and Suz Mundi seem to run out of. They have excellent hours (Suz Mundi, you can go there and they are often not open, do not post their hours, and often runs out of yougurt milk) and are extremely helpful and friendly. The have a huge variety of bakery goods and food to go, and Rod the cook, helped me with my grocers into the car. I have now become a loyal customer. read more
