I still lived in butler when they first opened and loved this place and they always had the best smoothies, friendliest employees and the fresh ground peanut butter which no store offers anymore. We are moving back to the area and so happy to see that this place is still thriving and offering everything that I love and then some! I always love trying different places that make protein shakes and I decided to stop at this one because it was on my way to Nutley. Ok so like a year later I tried it again and I'm glad I give it another shot. The staff is so much better ! I found them welcoming, polite and ready to answer any questions! They are a great improvement ! Much better! They have a great selection and I loved deserving a new super herb called camu camu . I tried it in one of their homemade soups which was outstanding. It also had beets and coconut milk .i also purchased a vegan potato salad that I devoured . I will hopefully be getting a promotion to another office at my job which is right near here and I'm sure I will be there three or more times a week if that happens! I've been shopping at the NJ Greenlife stores for as long as they've been open for business. I particularly love the one in Butler, but Andover is also quite nice. One thing I noticed from the beginning is the warm friendly staff and owners. I really love Mervet and her family. They always make me and my family feel,welcome. The owners and staff make the place, always helpful, with a welcoming smile, friendly and knowledgeable. Now back to why I love Greenlife Market. I appreciate my greens and I find the organic produce there to be fresher than any other local grocery market, and that's no small task. I'm really astonished at the selection of foods and supplements that they offer in the space they have. They even have free range/grass fed varieties of meat at reasonable prices, so if you like meat and organic veggies you don't have to schlep to two different stores to get your food. Everything looks neat and clean, and I know that's not so easy to pull off with such a large selection and fast turnover, ( the place is really popular.) What I really love about the place and what are its distinguishing features, are the deli, juice bar and prepared foods section. There's always a nice variety of yummy and interesting prepared foods with a focus on healthy and natural. My favorite juice is the Alkalizer because it's all green veggies. Their juices are healthy, (no added sugars and junk) and they are so tasty and convenient. I'm not even sure where to get a fresh juice around here besides Greenlife. It's a welcome refreshment when I'm on the road in between places. The people at the counter are really accommodating and when I have wanted to swap spinach for cucumber it's never been a problem. My favorite deli item is the super green guacamole. It makes a great salad dressing. Their steamed veggie bowls are such a great idea and healthy alternative to typical lunch fare, and I've often taken advantage of them. It's great to have a tasty warm lunch that's fresh and healthy, when I'm on the road doing errands and I appreciate that and know how fortunate I am to have this option near where I shop and travel. This may sound funny, but foodies may understand. I enjoy going to a Greenlife, it's a fun outing for me, unlike other places I shop at. I find their pricing to be competing and lower than other organic markets, plus and my membership gives me discounts too, so that helps. This place gets 5 stars from me because of the staff, not the business. This place hands down has the most up beat deli staff and friendliest cashiers ! They are always willing to help you with any of your nutritional needs/questions! The cashiers always have a smile of their face. Now the deli workers - Chris, KC, Marvelyn and Kate, (I've seen new faces back there but haven't gotten names yet!) They work extremely hard ! If you ever go during a lunch rush you can see the steam coming off them and it's not the steam bowls either :)! I've been coming here since before the pandemic and at first this place seemed to good to be true! Amazing healthy options behind the deli and through out the store ! But over the course of the pandemic I began to realize it was TOO good to be true. This small family run business actually is a nightmare. They are willing to cut corners to make an extra buck. I've noticed this when I purchased some baked goods which actually were expired and moldy! This happened three times with their baked goods but it didn't stop there. Other products on their shelves are also expired so PLEASE READ CAREFULLY! They are known to repackage goods in their own name and resell them ! You never know what you're getting into. I cannot imagine what kind of expired products they make the deli staff sell for their wraps/platters/steam bowls and smoothies. Besides this they also treat their amazing staff very poorly. I believe the way this business handled the pandemic is one of the worst ways a business could've gone about protecting their staff. They treat them with no dignity or self respect. And quiet frankly it seems like they just DONT CARE ! If you do go to this store or one of their other locations make sure you know what exactly you're getting and tip those deli workers ! Green Life Market is the best! Since going vegan this place has been a lifeline for me. They carry so much vegan products! I think I'm here at least 3-4 times a week. The staff here is always so knowledgeable on all the products. I asked them about coconut oil, not only do they carry such a vast variety of coconut oil, the guy who was helping me out told me all kinds of ways you can use coconut oil, including topical applications. As I've mentioned in my original review, the prepared food section is straight up phenomenal! They have soooo much stuff!! I love their eggless egg salad and the vegan chicken salad is also really great. They recently added these delicious steam bowls to their menu. I've tried several of the steam bowls but I keep coming back the the Banana Curry stream bowl, it's just got a perfect balance of greens, vegetables, nuts, and flavor. Not only do they carry so many products, they'll also special order somthing if they don't carry it. I was trying to find a vegan blue cheese dressing for a Buffalo Chicken Dip that I was trying to veganize and they said it would be no problem special order it. I learned about this store from an advertisement in a monthly circular, otherwise would have probably never known about it. They have a lot of great items here. Check out the basement, as it's easy to overlook the stairs that descend. Everyone working was friendly, offered to help, and even had us sample some of the food they had. I like how this place has a deli/cafe, which makes it more quaint IMO. They have reasonably priced nut butters that you make and serve yourself. I thought prices were a bit high for some things and reasonably priced for others. They had good sale prices, though. I worked in a well-known health food store in NYC for about a year and then managed a health food store in Queens, NY, for about five years. The buyers at Green Life Market have excellent purchasing power, which they pass on to their customers. They are also knowledgable in the various modalities of health and stock products that are in the best interest of their customers. Green Life Market is also more than just a business. The owners are dedicated to excellent health and nutrition, which they promote through the many services they offer in their stores. While the bigger chain health food stores may stock more items, often, the consumer cannot tell the difference between authentic products and unhealthy garbage. Not so at Green Life Market as they carefully cultivate the best sources for fresh produce and other items in their stores. They never sell inferior, fake, or otherwise unethical products. I have found that it is well worth it to become a member, as the discounts are innumerable. Just today, I saved $35.00 on my bill because of my membership. Green Life Market is a family-owned operation, and they will treat you, the consumer, as though you are part of their family. Because of their fantastic buying power, they pass on the discounts they receive from their distributors to their customers. Definitely a go to for natural, organic, and healthy food. They have a great selection of groceries, fresh produce, as well as prepared food. I love their vegan black bean "meatball" wrap as well as their house made vegan brownies (yum!). Their steam bowls are fantastic as well and their selection of smoothies and juices are great! They always have samples to try out and the people are super nice and helpful. Service can be slow, especially during lunch hour, but I'm always impressed with the quality of the food that I can't even knock a star for that. Also, if your looking for vitamins and holistic supplements, this place is chock full of them! And always be on the lookout for Groupon deals as well. The prices here are definitely higher than a typical grocery store, but are on par with most health food stores. The people who work here, especially behind the prepared food counter (but even at the register) are the surliest bunch under one roof. This may come as a surprise, but you're in the customer service business. A smile doesn't cost a thing! Every single time I go in there to order food from the people behind the counter, it takes them a full minute to finally realize I'm standing there, and when they do they could not be more unpleasant, as if I'm imposing on them by asking for an order. And twice I've gotten the wrong order. One time, I ordered a vegan burrito that clearly had chunks of chicken in it -- I threw the whole thing out. This place could be awesome with some pleasant people working there. I come here pretty frequently. At least twice a week. The quality of the prepared food is really good. (E.g. Fresh, tasty, etc) However, more often than not, there seems to be something wrong with whatever I order. For example, I asked for a "banana curry steam bowl, with chicken, without quinoa." But what I got was a banana curry steam bowl with chicken, no quinoa, no beets, no cashews, and no raisins (literally half of the ingredients). still charged me extra, though. Also, they don't cut up the ingredients to a bite-able size. So you have gigantic kale leaves and massive broccoli trees in the steam bowls. Next time I ordered a wrap with avocado in it. The avocado was there, along with the stem. Quite an unpleasant thing to chew on. The staff is friendly but unprofessional. Having to wait to place an order so they can finish looking at their iPhones is rude and unacceptable. The Andover location is the best, every time I go there I'm always happy with the service and quality of whatever I get. read more

IMPORTANT- PLEASE READ. I used to love this store and hold it to a very high regard. I always thought the employees were very nice and helpful. It is pricey, but I feel there is no price tag for getting quality, healthy items. I became a member because I wanted to support a small business vs. give my money to big corporations like Amazon. I feel that during these times it's especially important to support small businesses when so many are closing due to the effects of COVID-19. I had NO issue paying the $99 for the membership fee. Every time I shop here I spend a minimum of $100. I've noticed a pattern though, whenever you checkout the cashier always offers you the receipt vs. automatically printing it and giving it to you. They always ask, "Do you want a copy of your receipt or no?" Previously I never wanted my receipt because I felt it was a waste of paper, but the last time I was here (3/19/21), I asked for a copy of my receipt and glad I did!! It turns out they overcharged me by $10! It may seem like no big deal to some people, but it's the principle of the matter. It makes me wonder, how many other times did they do this without me noticing? How many times did they over charge me and other people without them realizing it because they didn't obtain a copy of their receipt? If they overcharge each customer by $10 they are making a ton of side money. It's VERY shady and honestly criminal!! I will be calling the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs to investigate this place. Robbing people during these times, when so many are out of work and struggling to make ends meet?! You've got to be kidding me! I got home reviewed my receipt, took out my calculator and added up each item, including taxes and fees and I couldn't figure out where this $10 was coming from. It's not like they scanned an item twice, it literally came out of nowhere! I was very annoyed and drove back to the store with my BF- the last thing we felt like doing on a Fri afternoon. We explained to the cashier and then the manager that we were overcharged. They didn't seem too phased or to care. I'm sorry, but this was THEIR MISTAKE and they are wasting MY time with THEIR error. I have much better things to do with my time- believe me! We waited around in the store for over 30 minutes as they struggled to figure out what to do. We were losing our patience and asked to speak to the store owner and called him from the store. The owner did not care either and deflected it and blamed it on "their new system". Come on! It's 2021, you're telling me your NEW system isn't equipped with a calculator that works and isn't capable of adding properly? Nice try, but you just got called out on your money-making scheme. They ended up giving me my $10 back and then an additional $10 cash for their mistake. How about a store gift card or something reasonable?! I don't feel this issue was resolved appropriately whatsoever. The extra $10 they gave me was literally OFFENSIVE. In a store like that what can you even buy for $10? My time is much more valuable than that. Do they really lack the customer service that most places have? This would NEVER happen at Trader Joes. Have they never heard the line that the customer is always right? They messed up BIG TIME and I do not feel this is resolved. Their $10 is a JOKE and again, offensive. At any other establishment they would have comped the order and made it right, not just given you $10 to shut you up and get you out of their hair and out the door. To put the cherry on top, while waiting there for over 30 minutes, my frozen items were thawing sitting on the counter. Before we left, we requested new items and they made US go to retrieve them. Um...after all we went through, one of the workers should have went and got us the new items, not made us go get them. Horrible, horrible customer service and an owner that really doesn't value his customers. This was my first visit to Green Life Market. It was a Monday at 2:30pm. From the outside, you wouldn't be able to tell that they make sandwiches and smoothies since the signage emphasizes supplements and vitamins. Even at this time, there were many customers and even more employees which made it hard to think with all the noise everywhere. I went to the deli counter and ordered a Wolverine smoothie and a Roasted Veggie wrap and picked up a bag of Jalapeno popcorn. The smoothie only came as a small size and I wasn't too enthusiastic about how the ingredients tasted. Maybe a Batman will be next. I'm not a vegetarian and I thought the wrap was awesome. Hit or miss in the deli department. Seems like they constantly mess up simple orders. Prices in the store are overpriced on most products. They have a club you can join which costs $100 for a lifetime and it discounts the products from the normal price, but still expensive at the club price. For instance, Ramsey ShopRite sells the cereal I eat for $5.29 (Ezekiel) (Check Picture). Regular price in the store costs right around the $10.00 mark and the club price is $8 and change. Wonderful local grocery store right off route 23 in Butler. Green Life Market has all of you everyday grocery needs, stocking high quality organic and local products. As far as premade food goes everything we have tried so far. They carry a wide variety of customizeible wraps, steamer bowls, salads, burritos, hummus and the most incredible cashew cheese dip This is the perfect alternative to your usual greasy take out food options. Also make sure to pick up a loaf of their whole wheat seeded bread. Not sure if they make it themselves, but it is one of the best whole wheat breads around!
