I had a late lunch today at Green Mango Express. In the early 2000s, I worked downtown in one of the office towers in the Eaton Centre and ate at the Green Mango at Yonge/Shuter A LOT (it's long gone). I conducted an enrolment seminar in Etobicoke today and was happy to come across Green Mango Express on my way home. I checked and it's part of my old Green Mango's chain. Apparently it's been there for about three years and I've never noticed. They recently got a new sign so the old sign obviously didn't jump out at me. I ordered the Chicken Curry with Jasmine Rice luncheon special ... it was a lot of food for $10 so a great deal! I'm not a big fan of veggies so focused on the chicken and carrots. The sauce was sweet and surprisingly spicy ... I liked it. I'll be back! The guy at the counter was friendly. He cooked it up fresh for me so next time I'd ask for just chicken and carrots in the sauce.

Notice the lid is oily/stained & even my bag had drippings & staining bc it's so runny oily.

Went there today for the first time wanting to get a meal with veggies, chicken and rice and they suggested I try their yellow curry meal and so I did. I have had curry before at other restaurants and usually it has coconut mixed too but this one I was in shock with when I got home... it was oil based which I have never seen. The whole bowl was mainly swimming oil.. it was superrr greasy.. I couldn't even eat it. I was so sad I had to throw it out but who can eat a bowl of oil & coloring with veggies. The yellow oil stains so easily and drips down quickly bc it's so oily/runny. It tasted awful... I regret getting this curry meal. I wish I had tried something else but now I am afraid to try anything else there after this experience. I have posted pictures of my meal to share on how oily it was..

Ginger Chicken, full of mushrooms, after requesting no mushrooms and being told Ginger Chicken doesn't have mushrooms.

Have rated 2 out of 5...we found the food really greasy (more than usual Thai) and the chicken in the Pad Thai had a layer of fat on it. Never had that before with Thai food. My husband wanted to just throw it all out. I was also annoyed that when I ordered, I asked for Ginger Chicken with no mushroom, to which they replied there are no mushrooms in ginger chicken. But upon arrival, it was full of mushrooms - see photo. My final complaint is the customer service: both on phone when placing the order and in person when picking up, they were very curt and no friendliness whatsoever. Was very disappointed in the whole experience given others had rated this place well (avg rating was over 4/5 stars). We will not be back. There are better Thai places around that will provide better food and customer service.

Green Mango used to be located just south of Yonge and Bloor many many years ago. Back in those days, this place was truly one of my top picks for quick, inexpensive, and AMAZING food! When they closed, I cried inside. Funnily enough, their old location found itself referenced in two of my recent reviews of other places that are in the same area today. In both cases, I was criticizing those two other restaurants and lamenting that Green Mango wasn't around anymore. Then I thought to myself; Is there any chance that Green Mango just moved somewhere out of my usual areas? A quick google search found that there were still a few different Restaurants owned by Green Mango and that their owner sticks to working in the Green Mango Express out west. I was overjoyed and convinced my wife to make a pilgrimage after work to try this place out! I was pleased to find the owner working right up front and more than happy to reminisce about the old days. I was a tad disappointed that I wasn't able to find my old favorite food choices as they have been updated since. That being said, the food is still really great, the servings are generous and the prices are right! Even though this place is about a 20 minute highway drive away from where we live, my wife still wants to come out again soon. :) So you might ask why I'm giving this place 4 stars if the food isn't quite as good as it used to be. Well, that's because it would have gotten a 5 if it was! 4 is still bloody good and this place deserves it!

a container of chicken and noodles

Was not amused to be the only one standing in line waiting for 2 mins for the owner to finish his video on his cell phone. We ordered two pad thai's of which there was enough chicken for only one! (Please see photo) most of the chicken that was there was really fat and inedible. We had been there awhile back and to our surprise things have changed. Customer service and food quality has gone down.

This place has shut down, weird because they seemed to be doing good business. Small business is literally dy8ng before our eyes.

The restaurant has a lot of smaller tables, making it feel cozy, and the service was super friendly. I ordered the dry boat noodles with egg noodles and they were so good. The side of broth was absolutely amazing and honestly one of the best parts of the meal. Rich, flavorful, and so comforting. I kept alternating between bites of noodles and sips of broth. There was chili oil on the table, and I definitely got a little carried away. It was seriously spicy, but somehow I couldn't stop eating. My mouth was on fire, but every bite made me want another. Even after leaving, I kept thinking about those noodles. I also liked that there are several noodle options to choose from depending on what texture you're craving. Between the delicious food, great broth, and kind service, this is definitely a spot I'd come back to again.

The noodle soups caught my attention so I got tom yum seafood noodles. Happy with the amount of seafood there was in the bowl. I was so surprised at how rich the broth was like wow. It got to the point where I was slurping and choked a few times that left my throat burning a bit haha. I like that they offer two sizes and condiments on the side as well. Service was higher than standard. I like the other things this restaurant offers by the entrance. I also got a Thai inhaler stick there and it works like a charm.

I'm definitely coming back here!…read more We ordered the Tapioca dumplings, the beef messemen curry, and the mango and purple sticky rice. Wow! It was all so tasty. The tapioca dumplings are unlike anything I've tasted before. They serve it with a side of lettuce, mint and peanuts. I liked the dumplings better without the sides they served! The lettuce and other add ons dim the flavors of the dumplings. So I prefer just eating the dumplings straight on. The Messemen curry was so flavorful and the beef was so tender! I'm a big fan. If you're a fan of Thai curries then you'll definitely like this! The Mango purple sticky rice dessert was also really tasty! It had a tasty coconut sorbet and it all went really well together. Service was good, food came out quickly, vibes were good. No complaints here!

Unfortunately, the day took an unexpected turn when I had to go to the hospital, and for a while I thought I wouldn't make it at all. As a testament to both the kindness of my friends and the exceptional staff at Lao Lao, they were able to accommodate us even though I arrived nearly two hours late on a busy Saturday evening. Originally, our table was only reserved until 8:00 p.m.--the exact time I finally arrived. Thankfully, with the help of our incredible server, Savanna N., everything worked out. Her professionalism, warmth, and willingness to help truly made the evening possible. More than anything, I hoped the wait would be worthwhile for my friends, who were visiting for the first time. I'm happy to say they absolutely loved it--especially the outstanding hospitality and customer service. A huge thank you to Savanna and the entire team for making us feel so welcome. As for the food, every dish was delicious. Nothing disappointed. The papaya salad was such a hit that we ordered it twice. The Beef Massaman Curry, Crispy Lao Spiced Chips, Banana Leaf Steamed Fish, and the seasonal Vermicelli Noodle in Chicken Coconut Red Curry were all exceptional. Although it had been about a year since my last visit, I was delighted to see that Lao Lao remains consistently excellent in its food, quality, and service. Bravo!

A bit on the pricier end, but the food was great so I can't complain!…read more The gai lan with pork belly was my favorite! It was garlicky and the pork belly was still crispy. I would probably try the tofu option next time though as the pork belly was a bit too heavy/fatty for me. Not pictured, but we also got a lychee lime juice which was refreshing and not too sweet. It had a very natural and not artificial lychee flavor which stood out to me. Our server was also super friendly and attentive. He was quick to collect our food ordef and it also came out in a timely manner. He also checked in on us regularly. We had a reservation so we did not have an issue with the wait. Overall: A+ // 6 stars…read more High quality Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant that really lives up to the title with the authentic Thai flavors at a good value. The menu features a number of classic favorites, all of which are some of the best I've tasted of the cuisine. It tasted great the first time I visited in 2023 and even better when I returned in 2026! Pad See Ew - Excellent execution of the classic; love the tenderness of the chicken, and the tenderness of the leaves while retaining its texture. The authentic sweetness and garlic peppery notes come through well in the noodles as well. Mango Sticky Rice - Showshopping dessert that elevates the classic with added fun with the white chocolate shell; the mango is juicily well selected, while the sticky rice is softly warm and comforting. The coconut and rice flakes add another layer of dimensionality as well. It tastes even better than the version I had in 2023. Pad Thai Lunch - Had this back in 2023 which came with a soup, a curry, a noodle, and an appetizer which was spectacular value. The hot and sour soup was well balanced with acidity and spice; the green curry chicken could properly propagate the herbaceousness of the curry through the spice without being too spicy; the egg roll was properly crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. And of course, the pad thai has those authentically bold notes of sweet, sour, salty that I am looking for. I found the dishes to be quite heavy-handed on the seasoning (borderline too salty), so the variety helps. Panang Curry - very flavorful, slightly sweet, and very savory. Had a nice kick to it! Som Tum Tod (fried papaya salad) - ordered it because it was their signature but I thought it was too salty and crunchy. And I got kind of tired of the fried aspect of it. Wished I ordered the fresh papaya salad instead. The heat and garlic is nice though. Decently sized portion so you can share it with the whole table. Pad Woonsen Cha-Om (Minced Pork & glass noodle, egg, garlic and acacia leaves) - my first time trying this dish! It was really good! It kind of filled the role of "fried rice" to me, mellowing out all of the stronger flavours of the other dishes. Still quite flavourful on its own too. Felt like a Thai-spin on the Korean dish, Japchae. Kai Yang (grilled chicken) - oh my gosh the sauce this chicken comes with is TO DIE FOR. I want to buy it or learn how to make it. It's so fragrant, fresh, spicy, aromatic, and just the right amount of fishy and acidic. We were very full sharing these 4 dishes between 3 people. For the fact that this is Michelin Bib Gourmand, I think it is well-priced and a great place to try!
