I had a late lunch today at Green Mango Express. In the early 2000s, I worked downtown in one of the office towers in the Eaton Centre and ate at the Green Mango at Yonge/Shuter A LOT (it's long gone). I conducted an enrolment seminar in Etobicoke today and was happy to come across Green Mango Express on my way home. I checked and it's part of my old Green Mango's chain. Apparently it's been there for about three years and I've never noticed. They recently got a new sign so the old sign obviously didn't jump out at me. I ordered the Chicken Curry with Jasmine Rice luncheon special ... it was a lot of food for $10 so a great deal! I'm not a big fan of veggies so focused on the chicken and carrots. The sauce was sweet and surprisingly spicy ... I liked it. I'll be back! The guy at the counter was friendly. He cooked it up fresh for me so next time I'd ask for just chicken and carrots in the sauce.

Notice the lid is oily/stained & even my bag had drippings & staining bc it's so runny oily.

Went there today for the first time wanting to get a meal with veggies, chicken and rice and they suggested I try their yellow curry meal and so I did. I have had curry before at other restaurants and usually it has coconut mixed too but this one I was in shock with when I got home... it was oil based which I have never seen. The whole bowl was mainly swimming oil.. it was superrr greasy.. I couldn't even eat it. I was so sad I had to throw it out but who can eat a bowl of oil & coloring with veggies. The yellow oil stains so easily and drips down quickly bc it's so oily/runny. It tasted awful... I regret getting this curry meal. I wish I had tried something else but now I am afraid to try anything else there after this experience. I have posted pictures of my meal to share on how oily it was..

Ginger Chicken, full of mushrooms, after requesting no mushrooms and being told Ginger Chicken doesn't have mushrooms.

Have rated 2 out of 5...we found the food really greasy (more than usual Thai) and the chicken in the Pad Thai had a layer of fat on it. Never had that before with Thai food. My husband wanted to just throw it all out. I was also annoyed that when I ordered, I asked for Ginger Chicken with no mushroom, to which they replied there are no mushrooms in ginger chicken. But upon arrival, it was full of mushrooms - see photo. My final complaint is the customer service: both on phone when placing the order and in person when picking up, they were very curt and no friendliness whatsoever. Was very disappointed in the whole experience given others had rated this place well (avg rating was over 4/5 stars). We will not be back. There are better Thai places around that will provide better food and customer service.

Green Mango used to be located just south of Yonge and Bloor many many years ago. Back in those days, this place was truly one of my top picks for quick, inexpensive, and AMAZING food! When they closed, I cried inside. Funnily enough, their old location found itself referenced in two of my recent reviews of other places that are in the same area today. In both cases, I was criticizing those two other restaurants and lamenting that Green Mango wasn't around anymore. Then I thought to myself; Is there any chance that Green Mango just moved somewhere out of my usual areas? A quick google search found that there were still a few different Restaurants owned by Green Mango and that their owner sticks to working in the Green Mango Express out west. I was overjoyed and convinced my wife to make a pilgrimage after work to try this place out! I was pleased to find the owner working right up front and more than happy to reminisce about the old days. I was a tad disappointed that I wasn't able to find my old favorite food choices as they have been updated since. That being said, the food is still really great, the servings are generous and the prices are right! Even though this place is about a 20 minute highway drive away from where we live, my wife still wants to come out again soon. :) So you might ask why I'm giving this place 4 stars if the food isn't quite as good as it used to be. Well, that's because it would have gotten a 5 if it was! 4 is still bloody good and this place deserves it!

a container of chicken and noodles

Was not amused to be the only one standing in line waiting for 2 mins for the owner to finish his video on his cell phone. We ordered two pad thai's of which there was enough chicken for only one! (Please see photo) most of the chicken that was there was really fat and inedible. We had been there awhile back and to our surprise things have changed. Customer service and food quality has gone down.

I'm so with Liz B. on this one - I will never buy seafood anywhere else. The store is a pretty decent size, very, very clean and does NOT smell like fish. The servers are so polite and helpful and I noticed all the patrons were civilized; there was no pushing, shoving or yelling; everyone just politely waited their turn. They have another store in St. Lawrence Market which we've been to on numerous occasions but, being from Etobicoke and all the closures on the Gardiner, this is far more convenient. It's on Vansco, a side street that runs off North Queen but, for those of you who aren't too familiar with the area, you can catch it off the Queensway (very close to IKEA). I could see this being convenient for those of you in east Mississauga. You won't have trouble with parking as they have a private lot. I paid with debit but I'm sure they accept most major credit cards. They have frozen shrimp, scallops, lobster tails, etc. in all sizes. I also recall seeing cans of crabmeat and smoked salmon as well. As for the fresh fish, there was sea bass, grouper, catfish, swordfish, sole, tuna, etc. - lots to choose from. The tuna looked like it was sushi grade. They also had an array of fresh shell fish as well such as oysters, mussels, huge scallops and shrimp. For the pre-made food, some of the selections were stuffed sole, some awesome looking crab-stuffed calamari and I saw a stuffed salmon (very similar looking to what Costco sells). They also have specialty groceries on a separate side but I was on my lunch break so I didn't have too much time on my hands to browse. Anyway, I bought six calamari tubes with a whole bunch of tentacles for $10.25 and six large, fresh shrimp for $3.95 - great deal!

The ham croquettes were delicious and paired with an amazing garlic aioli. The grilled chorizo was also great but the garlic aioli muted the chorizo taste unfortunately. We also had the arugula and pear salad which was topped with Stilton cheese. We really enjoyed it. For our main course, we ordered the seafood paella which was amazing and everything was cooked perfectly. We also enjoyed the mango cheesecake and lemon sorbet for dessert. The restaurant is tightly packed, intimate, and has a great atmosphere for a date night dinner or dinner with friends. The waiters were attentive and very helpful when ordered. Would recommend it. - Carpaccio de Ternera: Veal Carpaccio with Manchego and Mushrooms - $19.75 (4.5 stars) Great flavour and overlapping of the flavours. - Cazuela de Espinacas - Baked Spinach with Goat Cheese - $17.75 (4.5 stars) Very tasty and great mixture of all the flavours. There was plenty of wait staff on site but communication between staff was quite poor. No one ever came by to see if we needed anything or to ask if we wanted additional drinks or the like. So we found ourselves having to constantly hail wait staff. A large portion of the weekend buffet was seafood. You would expect that when serving lobster and crab the tableware would include for seafood crackers. This is not the case. I asked for seafood crackers from two different wait staff and was advised they didn't have any. So I went to the matre d' and asked, she went into the back and brought some out for our table. If you serving lobster and crab, the restaurant should either provide crackers or pre- cut the claws ready to eat. With regard to the food, I would have thought they would have served some rolls or bread but we had to ask for this special. As well, most all the food was cold. So all in all, I expected more but a 3 star rating is about all I would give.

They are doing a promo currently $50pp as its usually I believe $70pp. The interior is old school vibe church decoration feeling with some antique stuff. I'm here for the food and not much on the decor tbh. The spread is all laid out in a L format. Its not the typical buffet spread of having appetizers, mains and desserts and such. In fact, I didn't see any desserts but you can order for additional cost. Appetizers I guess are the salads... There were a few meat options there, but I was there for the seafood spread... They had octopus chunks, squid rings, shrimp, cold crab legs, lobster with tomalley, fish, mussels... Surprisingly, i thought the octopus, squid was quite good in taste and texture. The lobster was a bit tough like the old Mandarin buffet days with overcooked lobster but had tomalley to enjoy if you like that. Overall, I think its simple spread but enjoyable. For the promo price point its good. They also have live music performance as well. Better to go early so the food doesn't get cold and less crowded.
