The menu features a number of classic favorites, all of which are some of the best I've tasted of the cuisine. It tasted great the first time I visited in 2023 and even better when I returned in 2026! Pad See Ew - Excellent execution of the classic; love the tenderness of the chicken, and the tenderness of the leaves while retaining its texture. The authentic sweetness and garlic peppery notes come through well in the noodles as well. Mango Sticky Rice - Showshopping dessert that elevates the classic with added fun with the white chocolate shell; the mango is juicily well selected, while the sticky rice is softly warm and comforting. The coconut and rice flakes add another layer of dimensionality as well. It tastes even better than the version I had in 2023. Pad Thai Lunch - Had this back in 2023 which came with a soup, a curry, a noodle, and an appetizer which was spectacular value. The hot and sour soup was well balanced with acidity and spice; the green curry chicken could properly propagate the herbaceousness of the curry through the spice without being too spicy; the egg roll was properly crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. This is a quaint Thai restaurant on Baldwin that has become very popular since inclusion on the Michelin recommended list. I was quite impressed with it... probably rate it slightly higher than Pai and Thai Barn Na. Food (4.5/5) - nice menu with lots of variety and overall good food quality. - Khao Neow Gaeng - this is one of their signature dishes and was fantastic! Stir fried pineapple curry with coconut curry sticky rice. What a great mix of items with great flavour, served in a half pineapple. - Khao Soi - a nice flavourful mix with a tasty curry broth. - Moo Tod - fried pork belly served with a lime sauce. This one was just OK imo... bit on the dry side. - Pandam Toast with Coconut Ice Cream - a really tasty dessert with a toasted custard piece and creamy ice cream. Service (4.25/5) - this place gets busy but they are fairly well staffed and keep an eye on the tables to make sure people are moving through quickly. Maybe can appear a bit standoffish for that reason but not rude at all. Atmosphere (4.25/5) - it has two levels for dining and also a small patio out front. I would just have to say that we are glad we decided to walk through the doors. We started off with appetizers of the fried pork and grilled curry squid and the dipping sauce was amazing just like home. We were unable to take pictures because they we're eating so fast. We decided to order just a couple main dishes and they were also amazing. The flavors from the curry noodles were very rich and creamy and absolutely delicious. The drunken noodles had a perfect blend of spices just like Hometown and we will definitely go back to try this and the rest of the stuff on the menu again. The service was amazing, we were greeted by the host with a warm welcome, and the waiter was also very kind. It is a true authentic Thai restaurant and the food and flavors are expected and reflect from the culture. Ambience is just like the islands of why the title of the name is there and the decorations are amazing. Let's talk about dessert, the pandan toast was out of this world. Came back to try more dishes. Got the pad see ew, mango salad, and mango sticky rice. The mango salad and pad see ew were good but the mango sticky rice was a little too over the top. You don't get a whole lot of fresh mango. There's a few pieces of mango in a mango shaped white chocolate cover drenched in condensed milk. The chocolate was unnecessary and the dish overall was trying too to be too trendy. Didn't love it and was a poor ending to an otherwise decent meal. read more

I eat pad Thai in every city I visit and this may be the best yet since I first had pad Thai in college many many years ago. Been chasing that epic pad Thai for years and think I finally found it. Amazing depth of flavor. Partner got the Islamic noodles, which he thought were excellent as well, rich flavor and very well made. Would happily eat again. The only issue I had which made me knock off a star is that the glass and silverware had an odd scent, like the smell your glasses have if there's food stuck in your dishwasher filter -- if you know that scent you know what I mean. Michelin guide restaurant located on the popular Baldwin St area behind hospital row. The restaurant has a nice warm vibe. The walls have beautiful artwork and there are hanging decorations. There's a heated and covered patio to allow additional diners. The second floor has additional seating and washrooms. The food was excellent. My wife got the chicken pad thai and I got the Pad Gra Pao. The pad thai has good portion of chicken, tofu, noodles. The Pad Gra pao has fried pieces of pork belly and fried egg on top of the rice. One word, delicious. Only gripe I had was the steamed rice was cold. The server is warm and welcoming and we enjoyed our experience here. This spot is close to work, so we often come here for lunch. I do miss the amazing lunch specials from before they were recognized by Michelin, but the quality of the food is still excellent. I've tried a wide range of dishes including spring rolls, Islamic noodles, pad Thai, pad see ew, khao soi, mango sticky rice, and crispy pork krapow. Everything has been delicious and authentic, with deep, rich flavours. Overall, every visit has been really satisfying. The khao soi is especially incredible on a cold day. The curry broth is warm, creamy, and full of layered spice, with tender noodles and perfectly cooked toppings. It was topped with beef brisket, and they were so generous with the portion, which was such a pleasant surprise. There was so much beef, making it extra hearty and filling. I hadn't been in Toronto in a for a while and we decided to get Thai food when we were in town. Koh like didn't disappoint. The place was super busy on a Thursday night but fortunately we had reservations (highly recommend). It's also in a nice little neighbourhood on Baldwin Street which is a great area to wander around. The crispy tofu rolls were a little different from what I'm used to but in a really good way. They were fresh, crispy snd flavorful. The pad see ew was exactly what you want in a pad see ew. The crispy pork was also super flavorful and comforting. All in all the price, portion size and quality of the food was well worth the visit. Nothing fancy, they offer your typical Thai menu but with good quality and fresh ingredients. This is what a Thai restaurant supposed to be. Noddles are not soggy. Shrimp dumplings look handmade and fresh. They don't cheat and dump a scoop of msg like other Asian restaurant. Got the chance to visit Toronto last weekend and our friend, who lives in Toronto, took us to Koh Lips for dinner! Since Toronto is known for Thai food, we wanted to see how it compares (and honestly can't compare to Vancouver's Thai scene!!!). We weren't able to get resos but fortunately walk in was only a 30min wait, so we had drinks at the cafe next door. We ended up being seated on the patio since it was so busy, but luckily weather's still nice. We ordered 4 dishes for 4 people and everything was so delish!!! Pad Thai is more on the sour side, compared to the sweet ones you might find in Vancouver. Mango salad was one of the best I've had and super refreshing to cut out the oils from the mains. Met up w/ a friend and visited the OG location of Koh Lipe on a wednesday work day downtown. I believe it occupies the unit where Ryu's Noodle Bar used to sit. The resto is busy just like their uptown expansion in scarborough. The food was also very tasty. I definitely felt like the portions are smaller at this location than the scarbs location. There's also not much going on in the way of A/C so the heat gets to you really fast (they also open the doors frequently ... which Idk why they do this; patrons choose to sit inside to avoid the heat from outside). The moo tod (crispy pork) appetizer is cooked much better here than the other location. My islamic noodle bowl was flatter and smaller than the one used uptown. I also got less beef. My friend got more food in his fried rice dish. Service is way better at the uptown location. Friendlier servers and more frequent checkups. I think I prefer the uptown location of Koh Lipe more than the OG location. read more

I have been to Koh Lipe and gotten takeout a lot over the years, and only recently realized I never reviewed it. It's been one of my fav Thai places in Toronto.Unfortunately, this latest visit when I was pumped to finally write a review, it wasn't as good. They got a new expansion to the space next door and decor is quite different than the original space. More beach-feel, which I liked. The server was very nice and the food came out quickly with good portions. However the food wasn't as good as any of my previous visits. The spicy seafood platter has always been my go to and this time it didn't come out piping hot. I wouldn't say it was cold, but in the middle, it wasn't really warm. The crispy pork was tasty but had very chewy skin. It used to be very crispy. We also ordered the pineapple sticky rice with chicken curry. This was my second time having that and it was alright. Hands down some of the best Thai food I have ever ate. We were a group of five that came by for a friend's birthday. We didn't have reservations and we were shocked that we were sat so quickly. We were given a one and a half hour dining limit, and we could see through our time there that they really shuffle people in and out of there. That's the one thing that stopped me from giving this restaurant a five star because I felt the customer service wasn't there 100% Our server was prompt to come take our order. We ordered three appetizers to share before we each ordered our own main. Our appetizers were only on the table for what felt like five minutes before our mains came out, and it was a rush to clean the table so that they could make room for our main dishes which made me feel like I fully wasn't able to embrace the flavours of the appetizers we got. When our friend suggested that we give Koh Lipe a try, I had my reservations... we've gone to the one in Scarborough and it wasn't what we would expect from a Michelin Star rated restaurant. The food really did not taste very good. We were seated pretty much right away around 5:30pm on a Sunday night. I LOVED the decor of the room and it was so fitting on World Oceans Day. I felt like we were in an underwater cave. We ordered the Khao Neow Gaeng (pineapple curry chicken with coconut sticky rice) which was very delicious. It had good heat which paired well with the coconut sticky rice. Much tastier than any curry we had uptown. The pad Thai was perfect for the kids. As was the Pad See Ew. Tucked away on Baldwin street, Koh Lipe doesn't seem like much at first glance. I ordered the pad Thai and khao soi. I normally prefer khao soi over pad thai but theirs was JAW DROPPING. the flavour and texture of the noodles were so good that I didn't even realize pad thai could be that great. It's one of those dishes where you know you'd enjoy anywhere, but theirs honestly took my breath away. The Khao Soi came with braised beef and it was very soft and tender. Service was amazing as well and the outdoor patio felt very cozy. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone read more

Some upfront details -- You should also know that if you reserve on OpenTable that they will put a $20 hold pp on your credit card to ensure you show up. The other thing to note is that they will not allow separate or split bills for the table. They will only allow 1 bill for the entire table and you'll have to sort it out for yourself. Not something I have seen in recent times anywhere else. This is a Michelin recommended restaurant. Very laid back but festive vibe. The good: - Excellent Pad Thai (either chicken or shrimp). The table was unanimous about that. - The braised beef Khao soi was pretty good as well - prices are very reasonable including those for wine and cocktails. - service was prompt. The not so good: - we ordered appetizers and had barely started eating them when our mains showed up (I'm talking like 2-3 minutes here). All of a sudden we are scrambling to find space on the table and then have to decide what do we let get cold. - we ordered the Gai Gor Lae and it did not look like the picture and indeed the sauce did not taste like coconut curry to me but instead almost like a bbq sauce. Live and learn I guess. I will say that when someone came by and asked how we were doing, we did tell them what happened. They then spoke to the manager and removed one item from our bill and gave us a discount on the appetizers. That was appreciated. I would just caution people to be aware when ordering. And make sure you tell your server you want the appetizers first and some time before the mains come over. For a Michelin recommended restaurant we did expect more. Just saying. This place is a hidden gem of authentically prepared Thai food and we are so grateful we stumbled upon it! It's tucked into a neighborhood bordering Chinatown and we had no idea of its popularity when we found it and realized how hungry we were. We were asked if we had reservations at 2pm in the afternoon and we thought they'd turn us away when we said no, but they didn't! We were seated and told we had an hour, which was fine with us! I can see why this place is Michelin recommended year after year. The flavour is phenomenal here and the portions are HUGE. The seating is a little bit tight but I think they have 2 floors to compensate. It's usually a reservation only place but we were lucky to just walk in one day and get a seat. The prices range from $15 to $40 depending on what you're ordering. Most noodle dishes sit at around $25. I'd love to come back to try some of their rice dishes and other chef specialties. read more

We heard this was Michillan recomended so we decided to check it out. We were pretty hungry so we got eggs roles, kao soi, pad Thai and mango sticky rice. Usually kao soi is easily my favorite but I liked their phad Thai more. Both were rustic and leaned into the dry spices which I think worked better for the had Thai. It also had stretchy noodles and well cooked veggies. I wished the tofu was a bit crisper but most places do it that way so we rarely get crunchy tofu. The kao soi had great contrast of flavores and textures like usual and the egg roles seemed home made which some places seems uncommon. At first the mango sticky rice threw us off. They have a sugar coating that looks like a mango so you have to break through it to get to the frrsh mango inside but we thought it was just a super frozen mango which would have been offputting. The sugary coconut milk mixed well with the rice and it came together well. The atmosphere is pretty decent. It feels a bit underwater themed with blue projected lights, hanging fake plants and hanging lights. I always prefer real plants but at least the lights made that a bit better. The staff is friendly and quick which is always a plus as well. Overall a good spot. read more

I was in town and in charge of making a dinner reservation for my small group and I. The reviews on Yelp for Koh Lipe are beaming and they have two Michelin awards, it's gotta be great right? We arrived for our reservation right on time and discovered a colorful restaurant with quirky decor. A nice front patio with lanterns and flowers hanging from the ceiling. When you walk inside, you'll run into a taxi adorned in twinkle lights and murals all over the walls. Our table was upstairs near the window, which made for a lovely breeze. It look me a hot minute to decided what to eat and drink. I started with a smokey negroni and the table shared the goong moun - fried crispy tofu rolled with shrimp carrot, chili, and served with a nice sauce. You can find it on their special menu. We also went with the basic spring rolls. The goong moun was asbolutely delicious and it was a recommendation from our server - thank you, thank you. For my entree I got the konng ob woonsen hot plate. In translation it's a steamed glass noodle dish with shrimp and some veggies and herbs. It also came with a side of their chili lime sauce which was delicious drizzled over top. This dish is enormous and I had more than enough to take back with me. Overall, I totally get the hype. The food was fairly tasty. Came here because of the Micheline recommendation. The special menu looked interesting, and everything we ordered was pretty good. The crispy pork wasn't all that crispy, but the mixed rice bowl dish was fantastic. The seafood salad wasn't as flavorful as we were expecting. We were warned multiple times about the seating limit time of an hour and that there was no bill splitting. But couldn't helped but feel pressured to keep moving along our meal at various times.
