This was my 2nd visit to the store; I didn't leave a review the first time because anyone could have an off day, but this time the clerk was a young lady who had the same lack of interest in the clientele that the older gentleman who rung me up last visit did. It seems to be the store's policy to not answer questions, give advice or find information on their own products. 1st visit (6/21) I went in to purchased a $1300 Sigma zoom, $400 Manfrotto tripod and a $300 camera backpack. The gentleman couldn't have been less impressed, blew off my questions about the backpacks saying "they're all labeled, just read all the tags" when I asked about specific recommendations for my gear. Yesterday (10/21), I called ahead (I out of state in NY) to make sure they had the SONY zoom I wanted and asked them to reserve it as it takes 1 1/2 hrs to get there. I walked in, told the lady I had equipment set aside but also wanted to see about a new head for my tripod. She got the reserved lens and filter out, rang it up, gave me a total and stood there at her register looking at me until I paid for it. No shopping allowed, I guess. I then asked her if they made a certain type of head for my tripod and she said "I don't know much about the tripods" - and that was it. She did NOT bother to ask the other clerk if HE knew, and didn't offer to look in her catalogs to see. Just... pay your bill and get out. I paid the full $1500. list for the lens (which I needed for the trip I am going on) and more or less got ignored until I left. Abe's of Maine has the lens for $1049., but I couldn't wait. I love to support brick and mortar stores as I appreciate the service, personal attention and advice that you can usually get from them, as opposed to ordering from Amazon, etc. Green Mountain Camera is NOT one of those places. You can save by going online to get competitive pricing and get more or less the same personal attention. It's a shame. I don't recommend this shop. read more

Ordered a used Pro-Tether cable, description said very good condition, cable arrived, was in poor used conditions, many kinks and worn connection prongs. Tried it out despite the condition to see if it might work, no go, caused crackling of my computer, scrambled screen and froze the computer (brand new MacBook Pro M3) mind you. Seeing that this company only issues a store credit I opted not to return it (I live in another state, so no need for other items from this store, this was an online one time purchase I made to this company) Thus I opted to buy a brand new cable, from another company, it was the same exact cable, same brand of cable and size specs, worked flawlessly!!! Buyer beware,,, this may be a good company overall, however, watch out for their "USED" products they are selling, unless you want to get stuck with a product you paid for that is useless to you. Again, remember that this company (will not issue a refund for a defective used item), "ONLY" a store credit... This is unacceptable given the multitude of options to purchase from the majority of companies that offer refund if defective on all products, as they should. Simply free money to line their pockets at the purchaser's expense, money most do not have to just throw away, nor should anyone. read more

I was scouring the internet for anywhere that had the newly released Sony FE 24mm 1.4 GM in stock, as my pre-order was backlogged for another two weeks (so much for being a pre-order...) from another major vendor, and I'm due to leave to head to Patagonia in eight days. I saw that Green Mountain Camera's website said backordered, but decided to give them a call just in case - turns out, they had one unclaimed lens left in the store. The associates I spoke to on the phone were all very friendly and helpful, too. I went ahead with my purchase, and they shipped free via fedex and I received it the very next day! Painless transaction and faster shipping than Amazon. Would do business with again in the future. read more

Had vintage camera equipment I wanted to sell and, after shopping around locally without much encouragement, found Green Mountain online. They responded quickly, discussed the details online and on the phone, gave me an estimate, and explained how to get them the camera by UPS without any risk to me. Once they had seen the camera IRL, they made a very acceptable offer, and sent a check straight away. They were friendly, professional, and honest. I would go to them again in a heartbeat! read more

I tried to buy a camera locally here. The salesperson either didn't seem to have the knowledge or willingness to match my requirements. For the record, it wasn't a complicated sale nor am I a fussy shopper. I think he spent 5 minutes tops with me before acting uninterested. I have only been here twice and found the service completely unhelpful both times. I don't know what the other reviewers are talking about. Maybe this place is great if you're a professional photographer but as an average joe I found it extremely unhelpful and slightly condescending. No, I'm not a professional photographer, but I could have spent a lot of money in your store. If you've ever wondered why shops like yours are going out of business and Amazon is booming look no further. I am a prime example. I actively try to shop local and you drove me away. Good luck. These guys are awesome. I was pulling out my hair trying to track down a Fujifilm x100f because of the limited stock and the oversold pre-orders from Fuji. Not only did Green Mountain have the camera in stock, but Tessa was extremely helpful and even tossed in free 2 Day shipping (I'm in Arizona). Anyways, camera arrived yesterday. The people who work here provide the best customer service I have ever experienced. The woman helped me make several test prints so that we could figure out how light or dark to print my photo, making sure I had it absolutely the way I wanted it. Then she took my order for 100 prints once the coloring was perfect, and had them all ready for me in an hour - after explaining to me that I could order them in such a way that they would be much less expensive than what I had originally planned! Everyone is courteous and helpful, and they work hard to get the job done correctly and quickly! read more

Half of the staff is discriminatory towards me because I am a Latin American male with a tattoo on my hand. They have undermined my intelligence and generally leave me with mixed feelings about supporting this shop. There are three sales people I have had nothing but abrasive experiences with, each time I encounter them: two middle aged women and an older male with a white beard. Three other employees have been very very helpful- and even encouraging. Over the past two years I have purchased two rather expensive tripods, developed several films and have ordered many many prints from this establishment. Half the staff is pleasant and the other half doesn't seem to realize that they're in the customer service business. I can not recommend this business. read more

I drove 60 miles to purchase a new camera only to find that after checking the website for hours (it stated they would be open regular Sunday hours), they were closed all day for staff meetings etc. Really? The people here are incredibly nice. I needed a hard-to-find cable to connect my Mamiya RZ67 to my Pocket Wizards for a shoot the following day. Having just opened, they did not have this cable in stock, but went above and beyond anyway. After calling and finding out they didn't have what I needed, I received an unexpected call back about 10 minutes later. The woman I had talked to had called their other store, spoken with someone who used to work with them and now works at Pocket Wizard, and she wanted to let me know they could get a cable for me directly from Pocket Wizard later the next day. Needless to say, I was incredibly impressed by this. I ended up solving the problem without the cable, but I will definitely make a point to do business with them in the future. My trusty camera stores have been in Chicago and New York, so it's been hard to find something when in Burlington. I'm glad this place opened up! read more

3 yrs ago Ritz became GMC w the same staff. I had been using Ritz since 1998 w no problems, such as if an enlargement did not match guide print, they would reprint till achieving my desired image w no complaints or extra payment. 3 yrs ago, I had ordered 60 prints for a show- mix of film & digital. I had to go in 3 times to try to get correct images all to no avail. The staff only made excuses, "chemicals are different w each batch" to "each staff prints differently" to "I don't know what you want theninage to look like when you send it in through our online print service." I switched companies & never had a problem w them (Photogarden). Photogarden just closed & I have a show coming up & GMC is the only option for printing on short notice. So, yesterday I tried again. Sent in digital images online & brought in film negatives. I reviewed the digital prints & they were off color- much darker & too much orange. So again, I go in to ask if they can redo to match the image/coloring I wanted. Again, the same Woman from 3 yrs ago repeats, "how am I to know what you want the image to look like... how do I know what it looks like on your screens..." I repeatedly asked, "Can you match the print to this image" as I held up my phone to show the image/color I wanted. Again, the staff just kept making excuses vs giving me an answer, "yes we can try" or "no we can't." The woman told me it was abusive of me to ask what I did bc I was validating her worth as a human as I was focused on the question, "Can you do the job or not?" Never had such defensive inappropriate behavior from a printer before. I do not recommend this place at all. Sad they are the only photo print store in town now. Horrible service & terrible printing of both digital & film negatives as they did not even follow the written directions for cropping etc. read more
