Every cat/kitten we have gotten in aprox last 20 yrs even got a puppy once Sam, short for Samantha…read more(when she did a bad thing). This is the BEST place to adopt a cat or kitten. When I hear someone mention they are looking a a cat/kitten, I tell them of Another Chance adoption, tell them where they are located. Next time I see the person they say "m Thanks for telling me about Another Chance We got our next family member there" Then they tell others. The cat we have now is 1 of theirs & hope she lives forever, She follows me everywhere, sleeps with me. She is an inside cat only, Hubby built her a cage that she goes in & out thru cat door. That is only time she is out. doesn't try to go out thru kitchen door, she knows she can't go so she will just look. she is the BEST. She is6 yrs old now so she (I hope) has many more to go.

We adopted our kitten from ACAR last June at an adoption event. My husband and I found our kitten…read moreright away based on the knowledge of the staff present at the event. It was very clear that everyone working at the event knew all the kittens and their personalities and had interacted with all of them. We ran into a problem when we brought our kitten home and realized she began sneezing and coughing. She had a serious infection and we had to make several trips to the vet to get her the proper medication, but ACAR paid for all of the medication and vet fees. My advice to anyone considering adoption from this shelter would be to take your new kitten to your own vet before bringing her home and exposing her to other pets/small children. Our kitten is now happy, healthy, and a very important part of our family. We can't imagine our lives without her! An added bonus is that the adoption fee includes spay/neuter for your kitten, as well as all necessary vaccinations!

I had a great experience adopting our kitten here. My wife and I visited one of their adoption…read moreevents and the volunteers/staff there were very helpful in choosing the best kitten for us. The application process was smooth and efficient. Price was reasonable and our kitten received all of his needed vet care, shots, etc before he came home with us. We are extremely pleased with our new family member and the Animal Rescue Merrimack Valley!

Working with Sue and Barbara from the Animal Rescue Merrimack Valley was a wonderful experience. I…read morewas from Tewksbury, MA and now live in Merrimac, MA. Found their website and emailed them and called as I could not fill in the application from my computer. They replied, mentioned and sent a picture of Jolene, a beautiful black/white 2 yr. old tuxedo female cat. Had a meet and greet at the foster moms home and Jolene and I had an instant connection. She was purring, rubbed up against me, talked. It felt as if we had known each other for ever. Jolene was a perfect companion for me and Jolene was mine before I left the home. I picked her up at the Petco store in Plaistow, NH, filled out the paperwork, bought furniture, food, toys and things Jolene would need. She is my baby. What a joy she is. Has checked out every inch of my apartment and has made herself right at home. Very affectionate, follows me everywhere. We get along just fine. I am very thankful to Animal Rescue Merrimack Valley for introducing me to my Jolene. They are the best!

Ive adopted twice from them and have been very pleased. She hade Lyme disease and flea problems and…read moretick problems but they were up front with me and I bonded with her instantly and took her anyway. She was free from Lyme disease after some treatment and we treated her with medication for the tick and flea problems but they and she was all cleared up in 3 months time. She was so smart and loving but now she is dying. Arbor Veterinary gave her the rabies shot in the wrong place and paralyzed her and she may have 2 days left she is in really bad shape. I can't even get her to eat anymore. She locked her jaw. I'm really going to miss her when she passes and I don't know how I'm going to come up with the money for cremation because I was scammed for $5000 and we have no more money.

My parents adopted a puppy from them who should never have been adopted out in the first place…read more They told my parents he had previously had kennel cough and was fully treated for it. This puppy was emaciated, and diagnosed with very severe pneumonia not even 3 days after being adopted by my parents. He was having problems breathing so they rushed him to the vet. The poor puppy, neglected by the spca, is now dead. My mom called them as soon as they got home from the vet with the puppy, telling them they need to pay the vet bill because this puppy has severe pneumonia which does NOT happen in a matter of a few days... the receptionist, manager, AND director did not give a f**** and basically told my mother tough sh**t. A report with the NH State Veterinarian is being filed, as well as documentation and support from my parents veterinarian, and they are also in contact with the attorney general. What the NH SPCA did was ILLEGAL and cruel to the poor puppy that is now decreased, and cruel to my parents. No human or animal should have to go through this ever again.
