It was very clear that everyone working at the event knew all the kittens and their personalities and had interacted with all of them. We ran into a problem when we brought our kitten home and realized she began sneezing and coughing. She had a serious infection and we had to make several trips to the vet to get her the proper medication, but ACAR paid for all of the medication and vet fees. My advice to anyone considering adoption from this shelter would be to take your new kitten to your own vet before bringing her home and exposing her to other pets/small children. Our kitten is now happy, healthy, and a very important part of our family. We can't imagine our lives without her! An added bonus is that the adoption fee includes spay/neuter for your kitten, as well as all necessary vaccinations!

My daughter's fiancé took the day off of work to be able to make the appt on a Sunday. HH told them that they would recommend this specialty food for the dog, a more expensive kind. My daughter went out and bought the specialty food and all the supplies that they would need. The staff at HH knew that my daughter lived a little further away and assured her that it would be fine to pick up the dog on Sunday. All week, we looked forward to finally meeting this dog, which was apparently the only dog they had that met their needs (good w/cats, quiet etc). On Saturday, HH called to say that the dog had been given to someone else. Needless to say, my daughter is heartbroken. When I reached out to HH they did not sound like they cared at all. My adoption process a couple months ago went very well. I arrived without any pets, and left with…read moretwo kitties! I walked in without an appointment, a couple hours after opening. There were some people there, either in the main waiting room or walking through the separate pet areas... wasn't too busy. Was greeted by staff behind the counter and I told them I wanted to look at some cats. They have you fill out some paperwork, mainly about what you're looking for and what your home environment is like (senior cat, kittens, other pets at home, kids at home, etc) to help them in finding an appropriate cat for you. You wait for a bit so they can find a staff member to walk through the cattels with you. You get to meet them, and pick some up in some instances. I deliberated because I intended to get a senior cat, but many of them had behavioral or extra medical problems. I ended up getting a disgustingly cute and impossibly smol brother and sister, and they've been wonderful. It may not be the cheapest, depending on which pet you want to take home, but obviously that cost goes into the program and really, can you put a price on a new family member?

They gave us the opportunity to spend time with our pup, they answered all our questions and provided us with a goodie pack full of things he needed as well as toys he loves. Our adoption came with a microchip, 3 free training classes on site and one month of pet insurance which are so very useful. I want to reiterate how kind and diligent everyone was during our visit. We were asked a number of questions to make sure we were a good fit with Iggy. We were also given time to walk with him around the grounds and see his behavior indoors. It was a great experience. I am also really grateful to any organization that is bringing dogs (especially hounds) north to find forever homes, indoors with families. It is a kind and wonderful thing to help these dogs in need. But then to extend the service to offer behavioral training is really going that extra mile to assist families and their new pets with a smooth transition and tools for lifelong success. Thank you so much for the service you provide for these animals.

The Landlord even called this woman while in the parking lotwith Leo. I have all of Leo's paper work, shots and payment in my name proving I'm the owner of Leo. I bought food for her cat Luna and Leo. I figured Leo could visit and play with Luna and brought a large climbing and scratching post. I asked her if she was giving me my kitten back and she said, NO! I'm the rightful owner of, Leo. He loves me and I love and miss him. I called the police but they can't get involved. A woman at MSPCA knows the woman and was mad I called the police. I didn't call about MSPCA. This woman at MSPCA came out with security screaming like a "crazy lunatic" - you're not to come here again!!!! All this because on Easter Day- I turned around and saw a black kitten everyone left behind and took him home. The last time I saw, Leo he was living in a dirty house and the kitty littler box was filled to the rim and he was walking on top of it. I cleaned the littler a couple of times a day and added fresh litter if required. I would have grabbed him but they're 3 against one. They have a cat Luna, why steal someone's pet they paid for and all his shots? Leo could have visited anytime to play with Luna. All paper belong to me.

We adopted our puppy through Happy Dogs of New England in January 2014. The online application was…read moresimple, and I received a call from one of the adoption counselors the next morning. She was friendly, full of great stories about the dog we were interested in, and very patient with all of my questions. A big difference after contacting other rescue organizations that posted dogs on Pet Finder but did not respond to questions, ignored applications, or had left up photos of dogs that had already been adopted. Having visited a few shelters and local rescue organizations, we had not found a dog that was a good fit for our family. We were fairly anxious about adopting a puppy we could not meet beforehand. The adoption counselor assured us that at 9 weeks old, our puppy would become the dog we made him. This was true, thanks in part to the loving care he received while being fostered. He arrived as scheduled re. transport & quarantine. We had frequent photos, video, and FaceBook updates from the time we applied until he was in our arms. He was exactly as described re. size, breed mix, temperament, and health. He is now 6 months old and we are constantly amazed by what a perfect addition he has been to our family. We had a fantastic experience with Happy Dogs of New England, have recommended them to friends, and would adopt from them again.

This is not an honest or reliable rescue group. I know there are many reputable rescue groups out…read morethere, so please do your research beforehand. My dog had many problems, which could have been avoided. We have spent thousands of dollars in the few weeks that we got our puppy and a lot of this could have been avoided if not for this rescue group's negligence. 1. Our dog came covered in fleas. He had scabs all over his body from the bites. He was not given a flea preventative treatment even though we were told that would be taken care of before he was transported to us according to the contract. Subsequently, due to flea allergies he then developed a skin infection AND ear infection a few weeks later. Our house had to be exterminated. He also developed tape worm, which dogs get from eating fleas. This ALL could have been avoided if he had been given the proper preventative flea treatment. This would have saved us a lot of money and the puppy a lot of suffering. 2. The puppy also had giardia, another intestinal parasite when we received him. According to the contract and New Hampshire law he was also supposed to test negative for this, but was not tested because "he did not show any symptoms." 3. Communication was extremely unprofessional. They would not take any responsibility for any of the issues that we had since day one with our puppy. They told me that I should "get a job" and to stop "harassing them." 4. Communication involving the transport was awful. It was extremely difficult to get any definitive answer as to when our puppy would arrive. He was supposed to arrive on a Saturday morning at 9 am. We could a phone call the Friday night before at 9 o'clock informing us they were "running 24 hours late" with no reason at all. He came instead Sunday morning with short notice. 5. I have spoken with another family who adopted our puppy's brother. This family's puppy also came with fleas and giardia. 6. I know it is difficult to know the breed of a dog when rescuing because most of the time you do not know the parents, but this group blatantly lied about our dog's breed. They told us lab/rottie mix and that the dog was going to be VERY large. I was sent 2 more pics after I had already paid and knew something was wrong because his legs were extremely short with a very long body. I inquired about this and they lied and told me it was the "angle of the camera." I said I wanted more pictures but never received any. Now that we have had our puppy for about two months, it is clear this dog is a basset hound and that he will not be a large dog. I added this complaint last because we still love our puppy unconditionally, even though he was not what he expected. I just wanted to add the last reason this group is dishonest. As you can see, there have been a multitude of problems since receiving our puppy and these problems should have been taken care of. This rescue group did not hold up their end of the deal. Unfortunately, we and our poor puppy have had to pay for it.
