My daughter's fiancé took the day off of work to be able to make the appt on a Sunday. HH told them that they would recommend this specialty food for the dog, a more expensive kind. My daughter went out and bought the specialty food and all the supplies that they would need. The staff at HH knew that my daughter lived a little further away and assured her that it would be fine to pick up the dog on Sunday. All week, we looked forward to finally meeting this dog, which was apparently the only dog they had that met their needs (good w/cats, quiet etc). On Saturday, HH called to say that the dog had been given to someone else. Needless to say, my daughter is heartbroken. When I reached out to HH they did not sound like they cared at all. However, the dog was much older and despite loving our family, was vicious to strangers and, by the behest of local cops, had to eventually be euthanized after severely biting neighborhood children. They lied about age, trauma and lineage. The toll on my family won't go unnoticed. Since then, we'll only adopt from foster families. Not worth worrying about whether or not some angst ridden caretaker kicked the kennel or physically abused an animal. It's a liability people should examine. Now, I'm the happy human of 2 beautiful and kind dogs adopted from loving families. These pups were treated MUCH BETTER as they should (and it shows) Gor now we live with the trauma of LRHS' deception.

We brought our seventeen year old papillon for two days last weekend to Karla's Pet Rendezvous. Our first impression was great. They were very friendly and they said they were waiting for us. Someone took our dog right away and said she would be with her. The woman at the desk received our dog's bag and started taking notes of everything we needed with respect to feeding our dog. We gave her a new bag of very special food and explained how to serve it. We told her also that we left a can of food, only in case of need. She was saying yes to everything. I wonder if she actually wrote it down. Two days later we returned for our dog. We were very concerned to find out if she ate well. She usually doesn't eat well when we are not around and that's why we brought in the special food. To our surprise, they said she ate well. We also asked if she was taken out to the bathroom recently. She said about an hour ago. Our dog was crying from the moment she saw us, which was also unusual but we thought she really missed us. We left, thinking everything was fine. We took her outside and she peed immediately for a long time. She doesn't do this unless she hasn't been out for hours. I was already disappointed but I didn't say anything and left. Our dog kept crying in the car, which it's also strange. I gave her a treat and she devoured it. And wanted more. I told my husband, our dog seems very hungry which it's very unusual since it was about 3 in the afternoon and she doesn't eat dinner until after 6. We stopped to feed her. The first thing we found was the bag of the special foods that was not even open. We served it immediately and our dog was really starving. They didn't even opened it! We found the can food that was open and they used only a little bit. We were so upset. Our dog ate and stopped crying. The next day I called the pet boarding place and they dismissed me. They said it was an accident. I felt really bad to have left my dog in such bad care. I do not recommend this place at all.

There were some people there, either in the main waiting room or walking through the separate pet areas... wasn't too busy. Was greeted by staff behind the counter and I told them I wanted to look at some cats. They have you fill out some paperwork, mainly about what you're looking for and what your home environment is like (senior cat, kittens, other pets at home, kids at home, etc) to help them in finding an appropriate cat for you. You wait for a bit so they can find a staff member to walk through the cattels with you. You get to meet them, and pick some up in some instances. I deliberated because I intended to get a senior cat, but many of them had behavioral or extra medical problems. I ended up getting a disgustingly cute and impossibly smol brother and sister, and they've been wonderful. It may not be the cheapest, depending on which pet you want to take home, but obviously that cost goes into the program and really, can you put a price on a new family member?

When I hear someone mention they are looking a a cat/kitten, I tell them of Another Chance adoption, tell them where they are located. Next time I see the person they say "m Thanks for telling me about Another Chance We got our next family member there" Then they tell others. The cat we have now is 1 of theirs & hope she lives forever, She follows me everywhere, sleeps with me. She is an inside cat only, Hubby built her a cage that she goes in & out thru cat door. That is only time she is out. doesn't try to go out thru kitchen door, she knows she can't go so she will just look. she is the BEST. She is6 yrs old now so she (I hope) has many more to go.

It was very clear that everyone working at the event knew all the kittens and their personalities and had interacted with all of them. We ran into a problem when we brought our kitten home and realized she began sneezing and coughing. She had a serious infection and we had to make several trips to the vet to get her the proper medication, but ACAR paid for all of the medication and vet fees. My advice to anyone considering adoption from this shelter would be to take your new kitten to your own vet before bringing her home and exposing her to other pets/small children. Our kitten is now happy, healthy, and a very important part of our family. We can't imagine our lives without her! An added bonus is that the adoption fee includes spay/neuter for your kitten, as well as all necessary vaccinations!
