This was my first time adopting a shelter dog on my own, although all the dogs at home I grew up with were all stray dogs that my dad usually got from some golf courses he played. The process was a bit time consuming...given COVID, the shelter could only take very limited number of people in at a time..so you'd have to sign up on a virtual/digital wait-list to be inform when your turn to go into the office was. We arrived around 2pm on a weekend...and our wait was around 1.5hours. They were definitely limited by the number of staff and I wished I knew they needed many volunteers earlier (I talked to one staff when we went in to pick up Norman after his neuter..and the staff mentioned they were 11 people short!!)..so I could stop by to help in any way I could before this adoption. We had Norman for a lil less than a week now and I was so happy with him. At first he seemed shy and timid..but he definitely made huge improvement and progress each day! With more and more days..I found he loved nature...walking..and interested in plants (he was a stray...and from his behaviors..it sermed he didn't really have much interaction with people or other dogs at home before). He's also very gentle...no barking..no aggressiveness at all. Somehow his pot training process was a cakewalk! I didn't really have to teach him much what to do and it seemed he kindda preferred to elimite outside of home anyways! I can't wait to work and spend more time with him. One that left my fiancée cut up from a cat they neglected to tell us was aggressive/skittish even when I asked. They have little cards describing their personalities, and they are filled out beyond correctly. You can tell handlers get to know these animals very well. We greatly appreciate the fast service, knowledge, and eagerness to help us find our little Tiger Lilly.

And our bathtub just doesn't do the trick. Puddles is the direct result of a small business owner, a groomer, who listened to her customer's requests. The venue charges on a sliding scale, from $5-$25 (depending on weight/size). Nail clips are $5. The dog stands in a small bathing bay, you spray the dude down, shampoo and wash (soaps are safe and all natural), dry with a shammy and finally, give 'em a blow dry (most dogs, including ours, hate that part). Employees stand nearby and assist as you request. Your dog stares longingly into your eyes, anxiety-ridden, whimpering, but at least you're someone he trusts. The shop offers other small bells and whistles like treats, accessories and a free bandana following the wash. They're also happy to post a Glamour Shot of your dog on their social channels. Oh, BTW, our dog was softer than we'd ever known, and shed-free for at least ten minutes.

They also have a vaccine requirement to ensure a clean and safe facility.

I've never had any issues with a veterinary office ever in my 27years as a pet owner and this office is run like a concentration camp where the office manager and his attitude have caused suffering in my dogs and myself. It shouldn't come to begging to get a prescription filled that was already paid to be written for a chronic condition nor should medical records be treated like a place to put personal opinions by the office manager (not doctor). My records have been adulterated and wrong referrals were send in a time critical emergency situation, and it took days to get them to even send it in the first place. Having to get reestablished with new clinics and doctors in an emergency is not what I wish on anyone -so save yourself the anguish of thinking you are cared for here and go elsewhere. Recently, our sweet Tillie Mae faced a life-threatening emergency. I brought her in because her abdomen was distended, and we learned she had a mass on her spleen requiring immediate surgery. Without surgery, our only other option would have been euthanasia. Tillie was only six years old, and I simply wasn't ready to say goodbye, especially knowing there was something that could potentially be done. Dr. Martin was willing to take the chance and perform the surgery when we had no other options. He is truly our hero. Because of his willingness to try, Tillie is still here with us today, and I will forever be grateful to him for giving my girl a chance. Throughout this entire experience, everyone went above and beyond--not just for Tillie, but for me. I was dealing with some health issues of my own at the time, and they were incredibly understanding of what I was going through. Their kindness and compassion made an incredibly difficult situation a little easier. Dr. Martin was especially incredible throughout Tillie's recovery. He made it a point to check on Tillie himself, and he would also call me personally with her bloodwork results, even on days when he wasn't in the office. Knowing he continued to personally follow up on Tillie meant so much to me during such a stressful time. Dr. Exelby was equally wonderful. She checked in on Dr. Martin during the procedure to make sure he was doing okay, and she monitored Tillie after surgery when he was out of the office. It was so reassuring to know Tillie was surrounded by people who genuinely cared about her. Brittany, the hospital manager, went above and beyond in ways I will never forget. She spent extra time talking with me, making sure I understood what Tillie was going through and, just as importantly, making sure I was okay. Before surgery, we knew Tillie was anemic and would need a blood transfusion. Brittany brought in her own dog to donate blood for Tillie. I will never forget that incredible act of kindness. It speaks volumes about how much she truly cares about the animals in her care. Sam, one of the technicians, has been kind and compassionate from our very first visit. She was especially wonderful when she took Tillie back for her procedure. I was an absolute mess because there was still a very real chance Tillie might not make it through surgery. Sam was so gentle and reassuring with both Tillie and me during that incredibly difficult moment. Every time I've brought Tillie back for bloodwork, she has continued to treat her with such gentleness and care. You can truly tell she loves the animals she cares for. Adriana at the front desk has also been wonderful. Over the past five weeks, I've been in and out of the office A LOT, and she has always greeted me with kindness, understanding, and reassurance. She recognized the emotional toll this was taking on me and was always there with a kind word. I know many others have played a part in Tillie's care, and I am incredibly grateful to every one of them. But Dr. Martin, Dr. Exelby, Brittany, Sam, and Adriana have truly gone above and beyond to give Tillie the best chance possible. They don't just care for animals--they understand that our pets are family. They treated Tillie like she mattered, and they treated me like I mattered too. From the absolute bottom of my heart, thank you.Most of all, thank you to Dr. Martin for being willing to take that chance and save my girl's life. Tillie Mae is still here because of you, and I will never, ever forget that.
