My last update. Tried again on my own, nobody wearing a mask. :( I'll be finding out how many bags I have until my free bags, as will my family members and we will be moving on to another store permanently. I like keeping my money local to Rio Rancho, but it will go elsewhere. I don't take this decision lightly. I have 2 large dogs, 3 cats who go through 1 bag of food each per month. In total we have: 4 cats, 5 dogs. That's a lot of dog food to buy elsewhere. I'm disappointed. read more

I have visited this store many times to buy treats for my dog. They're very friendly and helpful too! The day I visited it was to get my dog washed, having the convenience of going somewhere close to home is the best. Luckily, we got there right when they opened. There are 2 tubs that they have available. They are first come, first serve. We were instructed on how to use the tub. It was easy. The only difficult thing that we ran into was our dog not being used to getting washed in an environment that he was not familiar with. We kind of rushed it since our dog was feeling really anxious to get out of there. But we did get him washed thoroughly and they even gave us some leave in conditioner for him. Definitely, something we'll be doing in the future again. It beats having to call the groomers and not getting an appointment the day that you want to get your pet washed. I'm been a long standing patron of PFGW because they support Law Enforcement and my son is a Police Officer. I have been taking my dogs to Sam for grooming. They also have another woman grooming as well. The other gal cut my dogs previously and did a gawd awful job. From then on I strictly requested Sam groom my dog only. Last week I took my dog in for a grooming, picked when the was completed, and took the dog home. When we arrived home we put her down for a little nap. After we woke her, we notice how awful the haircut was. It was too late to call them because it was after closing. We called and complained the next day. My wife was very upset to pay almost 70 for a crappy hair cut. We asked for a refund, Sam refused but gave me back the tip. I suspect the other gal cut my dogs hair and Sam took the fall for her. I'll never use PFGW for any of my pet needs again. Stay away from this place. read more

My poor doggy was in desperate need of a bath. Rather than carrying his stinky self upstairs and having his fur all over our tub, I decided to bring him to the self service wash. This was our first time here and I was very impressed. The tubs are first come first serve and there are two. We wandered the store while we waited. The staff was super friendly and attentive. I think every employee checked on us. They clean the washing stations thoroughly between washes. They have everything you need to wash your pets. My doggy loved it and was so calm and enjoyed the experience. For $18 you get a good value. Plus, if you sign up for the membership after 7 washes, your eighth is free! Drove all the way with a car sick dog stinky from the shelter, ready for a bath and to outfit her with food, treats and toys. Got there at 3:10 on a Thursday. They are open until 6pm. Told I couldn't use the self serve bath because "the disinfecting chemicals were already applied". Asked if I could wait for the person in the other bay to finish and was told "No, we close at 3pm". Lost a big sale there today. Suzanna is a good lady and does a lot for rescue. Needs some better staff who are more accommodating. It will be awhile before I go back. read more

It's that time of the year when it's too cold to bathe my doggie outside. I have tried a couple of other self-serve dog wash establishments and this is by far my favorite. I always end up coming back to this place. They clean the basins after every wash and offer a selection of shampoos. I hadn't been here in a while because of Covid but they use to also offer conditioner and a spray fragrance. They didn't have them this time so I'm not sure if they ran out or they aren't offering them anymore. This was a big plus so I am hoping they were just out. I have a large 80 lb doggie so I love that the basin elevates to floor level to get her in and then you can elevate it up to wash them at your level. I also always get treats for her. They have a large selection of things to choose from. They offer vitamins, food, hygiene, treats and more. Their staff is also always friendly and knowledgeable. read more

She made sure I was comfortable with the price range of what she was offering and didn't push me to buy anything I did not want/need. She really knew her stuff and I feel I really learned something talking to her about dog food. Lol And side note, she let me know I could always call in to ask if they had my food in stock and if they didn't, they would put an order in to get it in store on their next shipment. I've been shopping here for my pets for about 4 years now they've been helpful. However, the last couple of times I've gone NONE of the employees are following state mandates and provide a demeaning attitude when you walk in with a mask. The store is small enough as it is to only have another customer also not wearing a mask cough on you. It's disgusting and super disheartening. Will be taking my business elsewhere as I don't forsee them staying open much longer at this rate. So if you're a loyal customer I'd start looking for another store that carries your product. *update Susana the owner left me a lovely message in my voice-mail stating none of what I've said is true, however she was not present when the incident I mentioned above occurred as it was a previous visit I decided to hold my faith in this local business and give them one more shot hoping they changed their ways as. She went as far as to quote Dr. Martin Luther King "the truth shall set you free" well this IS my truth and will stand by it. I know people who've died from this virus and decide to take it seriously. I also have someone close to me who works in the ICU and completely cracked Christmas eve due to the amount of death she's has faced DAILY for the last 9 months. So until you're holding someone as they completely break down in your arms over this don't throw God into the mix. read more

The staff seemed knowledgeable about my dog's specific food allergies and what food might work best. They also allow returns of food bags if it doesn't work well, as long as it is at least 2/3-1/2 full. Tried the food they recommended and it worked so well and my dog loves it! read more

Susana and her staff are fantastic and knowledgeable when I have different questions about dog food or any other questions I may have. We are always greeted with a smile and hello or "can we help you find something"? Like the fact that they have dog washing bays. Great set up. My one suggestion is they bring back a groomer. We've been bringing our dogs for grooming and buying their food here since we moved to NM two years ago. Have always had a great experience at this locally-owned shop, until today. Apparently our groomer is no longer working there and they didn't have the courtesy to notify their customers in advance. When I showed up for our dogs' appointment today, I was greeted by a new person and assumed they were a helper and our normal groomer was in the back getting ready. When I asked if they were in back, I was told they no longer work here. I spoke with one of the people the up front about it, but they just got defensive and told me I could do whatever I felt I needed to do. So, what I feel I need to do is let others know how this business treats their loyal customers and take my business elsewhere. read more

I love this store! My dogs are on home made diets but I supplement them with quality dry food I can't get in the chain pet food stores plus they carry all the essentials and treats that are healthier than what you can get in the chain stores. Love the staff there also. Susana is the owner and is great and hands on. Always available to help me out with any questions I have. Trina is the original reason I started going back, she was helpful and knowledgeable in helping me add to my dogs diets. All the employees have always been helpful and courteous. I also use the self service dog baths, so much easier than trying to bathe them! . My only regret is that I didn't find them earlier! read more

I started coming here last summer. I'm a dog sitter and had a 16 year old dog that came to stay with me that was really sick, he was very frail and not eating much. I went to Pet Food Gone Wild and met Sam who informed me that Jackson's food was recalled. She helped me put him on different food and Jackson's health got better and his parents decided he was better off with me. Sam also did his grooming and it was a relief because he was terrified of crates and kennels and Sam groomed him and gave him breaks through his session since he's older it was very helpful! I adopted another dog who was a cocker spaniel and had really bad ear infections and allergies, Sam has been with me every step of the way to make sure we got his diet under control and gave me remedies for his ears! He is doing better than the day I got him and loves going into the store to see Sam, Trina, and Susanna. He loves to get groomed by Sam and never comes back stressed out or anxious. I have been shopping here for years I absolutely love the owner!! Unfortunately I had a very bad experience with the manager Sam, I went in because I have a Bernedoodle and a labradoodle who are extremely picky eaters!! I spoke to Sam who is supposed to be a nutritionist on dog food I told her all my concerns and need advice on what to do. She asked me questions about what they were eating I explained what was going on and everything I have tried. My puppies don't like wet food they were doing freeze dried food and became uninterested all of a sudden she then told me that I backed her into a corner and my problem was that I owned doodles. She then reprimanded me on free feeding them their kibble I explained that they only eat it at dinner and I keep it down just in case they need to eat. She then compared her pack of dogs to mine. I came to the store in Hopes to find help not to be made to feel like I was doing something bad. I bought over 200$ dollars on food, bones, and CBD.Her attitude was awful. I left got in my car and cried that's how bad she made me feel about the way I feed my fur babies. Her attitude is something I've never experienced at this store. Making someone feel like you're doing everything wrong is the worst feeling ever. And to blame me on the dogs I choose wasn't nice to hear. I didn't back her into a corner if she's the specialist then she should not blame me and compare her pack of dogs to mine!! I did have to go back to pick up some stuff my vet suggested. It's unfortunate that someone can shame you into tears. There are so many speciality stores that I can go to!! After my last trip I have decided that I will not be going back. I will not be be shamed about the breed I choose and the way I feed my animals. Sam needs to work on how she treats people. I don't even know how she can be a manager. I did NOT need a lecture I needed advice. I do not believe she is a nutritionist for dogs. I only feed my dogs the beat of the best. The only good experience I had was with a girl named Jenny. It's a shame that one experience ruined the way I feel about pet Food Gone wild. Sam needs to be trained in customer service. Oh she was being so nasty the other employees walked away. Sad that I will never walk through those doors again. I did say something to one of the other employees come to find they are all related. Though I prefer to shop small and patronize local businesses, most of the employees do not wear masks. The store is small so social distancing is difficult. They should at least wear masks at the checkout where the area is so small you can't really maintain any kind of distance while paying for your purchases. I'll likely take my business elsewhere for the meantime. read more

This place is the cat's meow! If you're like me and HATE giving your pups a bath at home (aka killing your back), check this place out. They have a self serve dog wash for a super reasonable price AND the tubs raise up to save your back, the water's warm, and there's a blow dryer. My pup of course hates said blow dryer but maaaaan it makes life easy. Does your pup have allergies? Is your cat a picky eater? They got you! Check with the owners, they'll direct you to the perfect food for your furry pal. They have awesome treats, toys, and chews too. Not into bathing your pup yourself? Need a nail trim? Nice little store with quite a selection. Prices are comparable to most other high quality pet food stores. Their customer service is prompt, but some of the information they give is either exaggerated or wrong. It's obvious they push certain brands without hearing the customer out, and I didnt appreciate being pushed towards products I know wouldn't work for my pets. I havent used their self serve tubs, but noticed they were quite busy. Props to the staff for actually cleaning the tubs, as I've seen other similar venues just throw the next person/dog in. My dogs really loved the bully sticks and various "raw bar" snacks, but I'll be sticking to ordering online and doing my own personal research. All in all, I love that they seem to stress natural and holistic treats and food, and it's awesome to see them selling frozen "raw" food for dogs. Definitely suggest it for anyone local, but DO YOUR RESEARCH FIRST. read more

Very rude and demeaning. Made me feel dumb and as if I had no idea what was going on with my dog. I asked for a food that was not grain free. Per my vet and vet tech friends grains are important. I was still shown a grain free food and purchased this food thinking the worker listened to my wishes that i wanted grain. Also mentioned that my puppy seemed to be sensitive to chicken, she was gassy and itchy with chicken based foods. Was given a dirty look and interrogated as to why I would think that. I mentioned i bought a salmon Canidae brand food from Petco and was told by the employee "We do not sell anything petco sells". She was snotty and just made me feel uncomfortable. When I went to pay with my capital one credit card the same lady that helped me through the store checked me out and was rude about the payment. A coworker said "what's in your wallet" the capital one "jingle" and the worker rudely said "not capital one". Not a huge deal but just an odd and uncomfortable encounter. I Will not be going back to this store. read more

My fur babies decided to have some fun and roll around in the dirt and get dirty! I called my normal groomers and they were booked for the day so I found this hidden gem that sells pet supplies and has a self service dog wash in the back! As soon as you enter, you and your fur babies are greeted with such a warm welcome, and assistance with what you are looking for. The self serve dog wash extends upward so you don't have to bend over and strain your back! The tub has a leash attachment so your dog doesn't move around to much! Included in the wash is shampoo, conditioner, spray, towels, a blow dryer, a brush, and an apron so you don't get wet! It was such a great experience that i told my parents, and they ended up bringing their Golden Retriever the very same day! read more

Wonderful experience. My wife and I stopped in just to grab some food and spent a pretty good half hour looking around and chatting with the staff. They were extremely knowledgeable and kind. We had our toddler twins running around with excitement and they had nothing but smiles about it. When we were checking out, then seeing our hands were full, grabbed our bags of food and placed them in the car for us. This place is amazing!!! We recent moved here and have been looking for a high quality pet food store that would rival our go to back home. This place fits the bill. One of our cats is on a very strict diet due to allergies. The food he eats they do not carry. When they found out, they special ordered it for me. Then, after purchasing some canned food, the owner told me the brand we ordered was going to be added to their shelves so they could keep serving those with dietary restrictions. What an awesome way to provide great customer service! They have a good selection of high quality cat food, dry and canned, and every kind of dog food you can think of. I have been very careful during this pandemic due to my immunocompromised state, but thought Pet Food Gone Wild would be safe enough to shop and give my dog a bath. I was wrong and left the establishment feeling very uncomfortable. The staff and owner do not wear masks and do not care for the safety of their customers. I have been here a few times before and the staff was always great, until now. The blatant disregard of others safety during a pandemic was surprising.
