Horizon Solar is installing solar at our house and we have a tile roof so they engaged with Green Roof Designs to remove our tile roof and install a composite roof where the solar panels are going to go. The guys finished the roof today. The first day they came out and removed the tile, the second day they came out and installed the composite, today they returned to backfill the tile around the solar panels. I can't say enough good things about the crew lead by Jake. They were on time, they worked on two of the hottest days in So Cal. They were all very nice, did great work, cleaned up after every step of the process and even hauled away the tile we didn't need. Green Roof Designs was terrific to deal with.  We had a complex situation because they had been hired by our solar company to repair our roof before our new solar panels went up.  When the everyone's wires got a little crossed about what exactly the plan was, Michelle from Green Roof Designs immediately stepped in and made sure we got what we needed (essentially there was an extra layer of roofing that needed to come off and some rotten boards replaced.)  She could not have been more gracious and empathic about the stress of all this complex work being done on our home. Jake, the foreman for the job, was great too - professional, very experienced and pleasantly easy going.  I could tell that he takes pride in making sure the job is done carefully and to a high standard. The only glitch we experienced was that the removal crew (not Jake's team) didn't warn us that a lot of old roofing debris was going to fall into our garage as they tore of the last layer of roofing.  I would have put tarps over everything we had stored in there if I'd known because it made a pretty big mess.  But that was a small downside to an overall very positive experience with Green Roof Designs. read more

I had an issue with water leaking where the main house joined the patio roof. I called 8 roofers. Most never even bothered to return my calls (unprofessional). One roofer came out, gave an estimate but never returned. Green Roof Designs was quick to respond to my call, came out for an initial consultation and gave both, a verbal estimate and a written proposal. We scheduled a time for the repair and AJ Cabello arrived on time, completed the job in a timely manner and was very professional. He supplied before and after photos of the repair and maintenance work he performed. AJ also showed me issues with my rain gutters that I was unaware of and offered suggestions to prevent future problems. I rarely do reviews unless I have unresolved issues or outstanding performance. This company is in the outstanding performance category. Green Roof Designs / AJ Cabello are responsive, professional and didn't try to sale me on repairs that I didn't need. UPDATE Was issued a refund. Updating to three stars. I had high hopes for the company since they had 5 stars but now that the roof leaks more now than before they attempted to repair it. Last winter I had this company come and fix a leak. At first I was able contact the company easily but afterword it became very difficult. Also, the roofers dropped a tool that went through a wicker table we had outside. We were reimbursed for the table but now fast forward to this winter and I'm still faced with the same roof leak. read more

NOT RECOMMENDED! I don't understand the 5 star reviews for this place. Green Roof wasted hours of my time and never even followed through with a quote! The guy they sent out was 30 minutes late, checked out my roof, and promised me a quote within 24 hours. The following day I left a message asking about the quote, no response. I called the day after that, spoke with Cecelia, who told me I'd have the quote that same morning, and she confirmed my email address. That was weeks ago, and haven't heard from Green Roof since. If the job was beyond their skills or they weren't otherwise interested, how about telling me that, rather than make empty promises and then ghost me. There are plenty of other roofers out there--don't waste your time on this one. read more

Green Roof Designs repaired my roof 3 years ago and I thought it was a solid great job. But the same area they repaired leaked again after 3 years (Through nail holes missing the rafters). Since their warranty was for 2 years, I called their office and talked to Cecilia for another estimate and Cecilia stated Mike would call me and set a date for an estimate. Neither Mike nor Cecilia called back. And when I called back no one was answering their phone. At least answer your phone or call back and state you won't be able to come out to give estimate or can't do the job for what ever reason. Wow, after reading the 5 star reviews I also chose GRD. Let me share my experience... 1)Told me I would get the energy upgrades to my home. Roof, windows, and patio cover. I was quoted 184 per month. They, Joanna and Moises, returned a week or two later after being promised a contract coming over email that I never received saying the monthly was now 356. At this point the roof had already started without the contract from Hero ever being issued. 2) I kept asking for a new quote with just the roof and patio and one with just the roof so I could see my options, nobody ever got back to me. 3) After the roof was complete, and GRD realized I wasn't getting the patio and windows because of their "mistake", or what I believe was misleading, they raised the price I was verbally told of 14,800 to 16,800. 4) I chose a roof that was energy efficient which wasn't the nicest in looks because the sales person said I would get a small rebate plus tax incentives. After continually texting, emailing, and calling the contact given, once again, the story changed. Now I was getting no rebate, only tax incentives. 5) I was told I would have no payments till November of 2016. They were right! But failed to mention that my first payment in November would be $2000 6) And here is my grand finale...Solar City (who referred me to this bunch) paid GRD $5500 toward half of my roof. GRD took that $5500 and also charged me an additional $16,800 so was essentially paid twice! This company had terrible customer service and dishonest sales people. If you still choose to use these people. PLEASE GET EVERYTHING THEY PROMISE YOU IN WRITING BEFORE MOVING FORWARD!!!! read more

I needed a new roof prior to solar installation and got this referral from CJ Yamada of Sunrun, a solar company operating under Costco' s banner. I have had several estimates through ads and Homeadvisor but I think there's nothing better than a trusted source coupled by diligent research with the California State Licensing Board. I have had the displeasure of signing up previously with a roofing company under the contract price agreed upon only to be tricked on day of demotion to agree to additional job on my patio which didn't need a roof for almost double the amount of the original contract price. Glad I didn't proceed with that one as I'm happy to report that my experience with Green Roof Designs was pleasurable. Although demo day was a bit problematic due to some unforseen but injury-free mishap, the project was completed as scheduled. The demolition team left quite a bit of debris on my attic but after all is said and done, that issue became inconsequential as I am truly satisfied with the final outcome.GreenRoof Designs delivered as promised and installed a roof that even my neighbors noticed and liked...a lot. I chose the copper canyon color on the Timberline reflector series that matched quite nicely with the gray and copper-colored rocks on the facade of my house. It looks beautiful that I almost hesitated to put anything on top of it but finally decided to proceed with the solar installation anyway for practical reasons. In any case, the solar panels, I thought, would look like an eyesore on my roof but, thankfully, they don't detract from its beauty as the installers of my solar panels from Sunrun took careful steps to ensure proper installation. It needs to be mentioned that Cecelia Durbin is my point of contact for Green Roof and as such, she has been wonderful and exceptional. Finally, although I'm still waiting for copy of the final inspection report from the City, I have no qualms recommending this company for your next roofing project. Thank you. read more

Absolutely Awesome. I bought my home with the information from the inspector that the roof would need to be fixed within the next 5yrs. Come to find out the roof needed to be replaced 10 years earlier. There were broken rafters, wood rot, wood shingles and 5 layers of roof to name a few things. The inspector had completely lied when we bought the home. It was a disaster. Green Roof came and saved the day. They were helpful, knowledgeable, quick, and honest. They explained everything that was needed to bring my roof up to code, because it wasn't, and give me a whole new roof. I can't thank the crews enough for all of the long and extremely difficult hours they put in to making my home safe. I recommend this company to every home owner I know. read more

NOT RECOMMENDED! I called Green Roof for roof repair. They made an appointment to come and canceled because of rain. I assumed they were going up on the roof to fix it because of this cancelation. They said they might come the next day and that they would text me at 11:00 if they were coming. I never got a text. I called and left a message. Then at 2:00 someone shows up, doesn't get on the roof, looks at where the leak was on the inside. Then precedes to tell me they will replace a section of the roof, not just fix where the leak was. I told him it wasn't covered by insurance. Well because of that I haven't heard from them again. I even left messages about the estimate and never got anything from them. They were very unprofessional. I will never recommend them to anyone nor will I call them again. read more
