The food/produce selection is limited, but also varied, and interesting, at times. There are definitely some nice staples that they carry! They get five stars from me for their sandwiches - the French bread was so fluffy and delicious, and the half was the perfect size. It looked like they were slicing the meat to order?! They've always been very pleasant when I shop there, and as I was leaving, multiple staff members had jumped to attention to help a wheelchair user get into the store with ease. Came in and ordered a sandwich on sourdough. The lady taking my order was very responsive and quick to fill out my order. I asked very specifically for NO MAYO 2-3x to make it clear. I took my large sandwich to go so I could eat it at work. When I got back to work, my sandwich was covered in mayo. Absolutely disgusting and I am not sure where the miscommunication took place between my order and the actual assembly of the sandwich. I am willing to give them another shot as the bread seemed really soft. I ate the crust without mayo and it was really good. The staff us friendly and helpful. They have a varied selection of groceries (vegetables, fruit and other foods) at reasonable if not excellent prices (their specials, in particular). I think they work very hard to find items that would be good "specials". It's hard for me to catch their specials since my Facebook feed is sometimes 1-3 days late (not Green's fault) so I miss out on some of the specials. If you haven't tried Green's you are missing a hidden gem. I go there for the amazing deli sandwiches but they are so good I can never remember to take a before photo! Their produce is high quality, beautifully presented, and reasonably priced. The store has a small but good variety of refrigerated and frozen grocery items, including take and bake homemade looking lasagna. There is a small, pretty rapidly rotating display of local, specialty foods. I got some pan roasted shell peanuts one time but there are now new tempting products.... read more

Super nice folks here with quite a nice selection of fresh veggies. They also make sandwiches at the deli area in the back and they are awesome. A half sandwich is about $4.50 and a full is around $7.50. Lots of veggie, cheese, and meat selections available. They also use some very good and fresh bread. I recommend the rye. They usually have a couple of salad choices as well. Every time I've dropped in it's been super clean and always nicely organized. A great place to stop for a bite to eat at lunchtime or pick up some veggies on the way home for dinner. Best of all you are supporting a local business. read more

Another big reason Hillyard is a neighborhood that you need to keep your eye on. Wonderful family run produce market with a nice deli; and, come to find out they are the folks that made the hearty take-and-bake lasagna at a former Italian deli on Mission (since closed). But they've got all other delis in the metro beat because of one thing......Capacolla. Gabagool. Cap. Da' Prince. Call it what you will, they have it. And, in deli form, you don't see it around here much. I ordered a whole sam, and ate it just how they made it. Outstanding, and I'm a guy who likes his condiments. I just wanted the savory flavor of the cured meat this time. Such nice folks in there, and we must have just missed fellow Yelp friend (Jeff R.), who posted a pic from here earlier today. Visiting here from California and was in Hillyard. Saw the Green's Fresh Market. Think the sign said something about a deli so decided to stop in. Loved the decor and layout. Had a great menu of deli sandwiches. But once I saw the fried chicken and potato salad I was sold. Definitely made the right choice.
