My husband recently over the weekend took a Motorcycle road trip with his buddies. They decided to go towards a secluded road off the fwy to gas's up, look for shade and rest when they came across this spot. I asked my husband how his overall trip was and the first thing he mentioned was this family owned spot. I had to research and we found the spot as he couldn't remember the name. Personally I would like to thank you for treating my husband and the rest of his buddies with no judgment. They all mentioned how extremely welcoming the owner and his family were. The husband and wife cooked up some delicious food and the son was cashiering. The place was clean, organized and felt comfortable like your at home. If you are heading east on the I-70 from St. George there aren't a lot of places to fill up before Richfield and my hubby likes to drive as far as he can go to see how many miles he can get on his tank. I thought we were going to have to hike east on the 70 after 667 miles on one tank, but thankfully the Silver Eagle Gas Station appeared.

Lol, I can't say enough good things about this Phillips 66 Taft Travel Plaza!…read moreFirst and foremost...for venturing around wonderful Capitol Reef National Park, I first came here each morning to begin my day, every day, for 3 consecutive days. This travel plaza was the perfect stop not to really fill up my gas tank...but to buy all my foods, snacks and supplies to last me throughout my day's explorations (and even into the evenings for dinner when I was camping out in dispersed areas on the outskirts of Capitol Reef). That's how good Taft Plaza was. Also here attached to the right-hand side of the plaza was my saving grace...Subway...where they conveniently opened at 8am each day and surprisingly in the best of ways closed at 10pm each night! 10pm for a travel plaza in the middle of nowhere? Fantastic!! For all the tourists out there...all the outdoor adventurers getting ready to explore Capitol Reef, this Subway was ideal for buying a sandwich for lunch and then enjoying it either along a hike or at a picnic table in the park. Who wouldn't want to do that? Lol, a fresh sandwich to eat after hiking at such a beautiful place like Capitol Reef...priceless! Hehehe. So...lol, I bought my breakfasts, lunches, snacks and drinks here...loading up before venturing out each day for 3 my days at Capitol Reef. Then, obviously...like other Yelpers have mentioned...it's free to use the public bathrooms. I'd say there were about 5 bathrooms inside the travel plaza and not only were they private restrooms, (not men's and women's communal restrooms)...but each bathroom was extremely well maintained!!! I mean, to be so far away from reality in this remote section of Utah and Capitol Reef...and for the bathrooms to be so clean, was such a pleasant surprise. Also, the gas. Although I only filled my tank up once, the gas prices were fairly cheap...not even raised because of being right near a remote national park with few amenities around. Basically, they didn't price gauge like others gas stations do situated next to popular parks. And yes...I can't leave out the fact that this plaza was so conveniently and accessibly located next to Capitol Reef!! From here to say inside the heart of the park it was only a 10-mile drive!!! Of course, each morning I gladly stopped inside before journeying onwards to the park. This Taft Plaza was simply perfect for everything! Here's another terrific aspect...cell phone reception was perfect! I easily got good coverage and was able to use my phone before driving into Capitol Reef where once among the grounds, I had zero reception, not even one bar. How good is that!! Overall, this Phillips 66 Taft Travel Plaza was maybe the best, most ideal/convenient/perfectly situated...one of the most memorable and 5-star rest stop/gas stations I can remember in a long time. And for these very aspects, this place just fit in perfectly, blending in with my day's itinerary and explorations here at Capitol Reef NP. What else more can I say other than thank you for accommodating us tourists!!

We were headed south on I-15, towing our RV, when we began having engine problems and error code…read moremessages appearing. We were pulled over on the side of the road beginning to evaluate our options when a truck pulled over and a gentleman came back to check and see if we were okay or needed help. The gentleman was KC. We described what was occurring and KC said that he suspected it was a fuel filter problem. After some discussion we opted to have the fuel filter changed on the side of the road in hopes that it would alleviate us having to be towed. KC said he couldn't guarantee that would fix it but we decided it was worth a shot. Shay came from the shop for the repair. It took him about 10 minutes to complete the filter change. Then he followed us to the next exit to ensure the problem was corrected. Thank you so very much KC for stopping and Shay for changing the filter and enabling us to get back on the road. You guys are TRUELY AMAZING people.

One always has to wonder when they come to a strange new destination, what's is it like to live here. We will never know but we will not forget either. Let's go inside the store. This is a Terribles gas station that offers Chevron gas and all the amenities of this chains points of quality. The cashier was an amazing human with a great sense of humor . An excellent customer service experience and employee. The cleanliness of the store and the restroom was outstanding. One has to wonder this is a convenient store. Wow, coming from Las Vegas this is epic. The coffee was fresh and truly refreshing. The donuts were delicious and fresh . What more could an ordinary customer need or want? How about some local culture . This store stands in the middle of nowhere it seems, but it's the sight of historic beginnings here in Utah . Many hiking trails exist in and around the store. The Cove Fort has buildings still standing. Let's learn something; this was a daily stop for travelers needs years and years ago. This was a halfway point picked by Bingham Young for individuals traveling the Mormon Road to the capital . The water supply is inadequate here . Many structures still exist on the gas station property. You can wander through pieces of prior uses of the land . It's here so you can learn more knowledge. At least water is not an issue because they sell a wide range of different kinds and types. As we get ready to go it was fun stopping. We got coffee, culture, and donuts .
