The place needs a total overhaul. Very dated, very 'worn' looking.. The young woman who waited on us was not tuned into her job duties, she seemed very flighty and didn't know the menu. I've had Mom's Cafe saved on my Instagram for 10 years and FINALLY got the chance to stop in while doing an Arizona-Nevada-Utah road trip! I got a veggie wrap and fries and it was good! The fries were hand cut and fresh and the lettuce in the wrap was ice cold. Homemade ranch was delicious! But the scone... worth the 10 year wait! Fresh, hot, delicious! The honey butter sauce was the perfect treat. I hope everyone stops if they are in the area! The women working were so kind! I hope to come back before another 10 years go by. read more

If you e ever read any of my reviews you know I LOVE hand cut, homemade fries. Mom's cafe does fries right! Food is always fresh and home cooked. Service consistently good. It's an old time cafe atmosphere and that's great! If you're in Salina or just passing through don't settle for the chains near the interstate (you will be disappointed if you do). It's two blocks into town with lots of parking and easy access. Save room for the homemade blueberry sour cream pie. It's so awesome! read more

A few places around in this small town and this joint reminded me of an old soda shop from back in the day. It was post lunch but they still had a bunch of patrons, good sign. Ordered two Cheese Burgers and fries and they delivered rather quickly, almost in a rush since I was planning to eat at a public picnic table outside since I had the dog. It's a quint place with friendly people and is a local hot spot being around for many years. The burger was medium and honestly for a fast food burger I prefer it cooked med-well. The fries were pre-cooked and then re-cooked giving almost and uncooked inside, not cool. I would rate this place a 2.5, but giving them a 3 for benefit of the doubt since they honestly tried to deliver my order fast but net net it's worth waiting for the food to be cooked correctly. read more

Let me preface this by saying I don't like negative reviews and this is my first one on Yelp. A very simple place. Avoid this place at all cost!! We ate here for breakfast. My wife was finished eating cold biscuits/gravy before I was served. When my plate finally came it was incomplete and cold. Taste is average service horrible. There are other choices. Oh we wanted it to be so good but ..... I ordered the fish and slaw. $18.99 waitress comes out says we have no tarter sauce. That's ok if you have mayonnaise and vinegar that will do. My husband order the special Pot roast. He said the meat was very good. My fish dish came out when he was half done with his meal. They had no cold slaw and never offered to substitute it with a small toss green salad. My fries came out when I was almost done with the fish. The fish was good! The mayonnaise was old and translucent along the top and on the edges of the bowl they served it in. Must have sat at room temperature way too long. The pie I ordered had a doughy crust. Definitely not cooked all the way. I never write a bad recommendation but this time I just had to. We were really looking forward to a good home cooked meal. Mom's failed us. Mom's Cafe used to be a famous stop for visitors traveling through southern Utah. Now it is a greasy, dirty, overpriced, hole in the wall. It has been 10+ years since my family ate at Mom's and we had high hopes for their popular Chicken Fried Steak and French fries. While the French fries were still amazing, the Chicken Fried Steak and the rest of the food were horrible. The portions have shrunk and the prices have grown. I remember leaving with leftovers years ago and now we left still hungry due to the lack of food. The bathrooms were so gross that we chose to visit a local gas station rather than use their facilities. Our server was quiet, timid, and barely knew the menu. She barely spoke and when she asked my father if his gravy was warm after another customer complained, she took his plate away to throw in the microwave before he could even answer. This is the real deal in terms of being a small cafe in a small town that's not really close to anything. But we had a very good lunch here when we stopped in during a road trip. The service was prompt and friendly, and attentive throughout our lunch. I had the Buffalo Chicken Wrap, which was good. The menu said the chicken would be breaded, but I just got grilled chicken. Still, the ingredients were fresh and tasty. The sauce wasn't as spicy as I thought it would be, but still good. My wife had the Chef's Salad, which was a bit on the small side so I would think of it as more of an appetizer or side dish rather than a meal. Ingredients were really good though. I was also tempted (successfully) by the Apple Pie, which was one of several pies on display at the diner counter. It was very tasty, though slightly dry. We were happy with our lunch and with the service. It felt like a place that's been there forever, with many of the employees having been there forever. I'm sure it is a favorite with the locals, and we enjoyed being welcomed for a good lunch in a small town as we made our way across Utah. read more

We loved this soup. I think we ordered 3 cups of it!! I was also just so happy to see fry sauce back on the table, I had to take a picture of it. Service was pretty good, and the cafe makes you feel like you take a step back in time. We will definitely be stopping again when traveling from California to Utah. read more

A decent choice for out of towers for dinner. It was close to our Air B&B which was convenient. The welcome greeting was warm and friendly. We got to choose our own table. There are two rooms you can dine in. The back room was unoccupied so we walked through the doorway to the front. It soon filled up and bigger groups sat in the other room. Definitely the minority I'm glad we got some friendly smiles. They serve a very nice delicious appetizing plated salad that comes with your meal. The person who made the salad had each ingredient compartmentalized in a circular pattern around the plate; beets, peas, cheese, lettuce, etc. The dressing was good too. They had several cakes on the counter but with COVID still present and guests and employees not wearing masks, it seemed unusual for the cakes to be out on the counter uncovered. The cookies looked fantastic and were covered so two left with us to be eaten the next day as we continued on our road trip. Doc had trout, hubs had hamburger steak and I had veal. I was kind of disappointed it seemed like a processed patty rather than a thin flat piece of breaded veal that I've had before. They ran out of baked potatoes so one of us took mashed potato and I took wild rice which sorry but tasted like boxed rice pilaf. My cut green beans tasted like canned beans. I chucked it up to my memory of veal cutlet decades ago was a good one. read more

It's always fun to visit places that still serve full meals. This place was great in that you get soup or salad, a scone (which is like fry bread) and your entree. Salina is a small town in the middle of nowhere, on the way out of Utah onto America's lonely highway 50 in Nevada. We picked Mom's because we were hungry and there weren't 100 choices. Well they didn't disappoint. Standard lunch menu, normal American foods, decent service, decent food, decent prices. Interesting town, there was a German prisoner of war camp here in the second world war where a massacre happened. Look it up if you're a history buff! read more

The halibut was paper thin and very greasy. The French dip had one layer of sliced beef and no cheese as I had requested. The fries, although fresh, were limp and greasy. The oil must not have been hot enough and they weren't cooked long enough. The soup was cold. There was nothing special about the ice tea but the ice melted in less than 5 minutes. The scone was greasy but did taste good even though this small country town provided their honey butter in packets. While IT was not homemade... the cherry pie was and it was the best thing there. For a tab of $59.00 before tip for 4 people we were unhappy and unsatisfied when we left. read more

I was there with my family 1/4/2024 after staying at the Desert Inn, we stopped in Salina from our trip back home to CA from KS. The food here was very good, our waitress was really nice and patient, she was able to answer questions and never hesitated to look and see what they had. Coffee was great, we had 2 French dips, 2 soups, 2 biscuits and gravy, 1 scone (delicious) and one cinnamon bun/roll... all were delicious and with a family of four with 4 drinks out total was $57.00. That's a great deal. The ambiance in the building is relaxed, this place has been around since the 1800's but moms has been around since 1926, 98yrs of serving food to the locals and the tourists that come by. (It has a little info on the front of the menu) This was my first trip on I70 and my first time in Utah, I can definitely say I can't wait to go back. Driving on the I-70 and needed gas. As we pulled off the exit we saw a sign for Moms Cafe... the fiancé googled it and it had pretty good reviews to his standards. I immediately jumped on here and sorta went eh... 3.5 stars.... but what the heck let's give it a try. Bev greeted us as we walked in and told us to pick a seat. Luckily it was the last open booth. As we settled in we were brought water and my date ;) ordered coffee. I ordered that French dip w/ the works and fries. 5 out of 5 it was all delish! He ordered the jalapeño burger with mash and white gravy (I really love sausage gravy) it also came with carrots. He gave it a 5 out of 5 and said the carrots were weird, but they were a bonus. I thought they were delicious! Price wise, with now a days prices, we felt was fair. $10ish(+) for a burger and mine was in the same range. We also ordered a coconut creme pie. We also really appreciated Bev. She was efficient and served us awesomely!! Next time we're in Utah we would definitely come back. My husband suggested this place . He said he saw it way back on the way during his motorcycle ride to OKlahoma. So now that we are on a road trip from the BayArea to Kansas where he's joining a bicycle race , he wanted to try it. We came here at 'brunch' . We just wanted some hot soup since it's been chilly (we are surprised ) here and salad and then ready for our road trip again. Our waitress is pretty nice and attentive,no problem . After waiting our soup came , the waitress apologizes for the 'wait' . So here comes our soup, it's chicken noodle soup with lots of carrots, that's the soup served for the day , It looks pretty, but I don't see 'hot steam' coming from the soup. It was lukewarm not hot ! I want my soup steaming hot! The pasta noodle is also hard and all clamped up and a bit salty.!Should we have specified it that we like it hot? I don't know? Should we have given back to the waitress to have it heated up when she asked how was the soup? ... but instead we said, good , then we just continued eating it , lol . I just want to finished and get out . This review is just for the soup. It's a constructive one so no more lukewarm soup unless their customers like it the way it is. I guess I'm just disappointed since this place is part of Salina history, and just thinking out loud that food served are on point. Salina is a good stop for us when traveling right off highway 50/70. The downtown is mostly boarded up a bit depressing...but this cafe has home cooked hearty meals ie patty melts, chicken fried steak, meatloaf on special etc homemade pies. Food good especially the hand-cut potato fries and burgers. Soups homemade daily. Only thing beware of upcharges for everything ie fries vs chips $2. Service ok - efficient and quick. read more

Great food, and I'll make the powerful statement: "Best Burger in Utah". That's right. The best! The meat Pattie's were obviously made fresh in house, and seasoned to perfection. Great sauce, great cheese, and veggies on the side for you to add and make sure they stay crispy. Oh, and the carrots, FRESHLY MADE, not canned, not frozen, made right there from an actual carrot, and delicious! My wife ordered the salmon and was likewise blown away; her words "I've had salmon at many other places, and this was PERFECT". Great service and atmosphere! If you're within 200-250 miles of Mom's you should be a regular here! 5-Stars, though I would love to give it 6! read more

We stopped in at this place on the way down to Kanab and could not have been more happy with our choice. We got the breakfast burger to share and damn that was big enough for two people for sure. Holy crap the fries were amazing. The fries were fresh cut and fresh cooked. They were a total bonus to the whole meal. The burgers was great and the bun was amazing. The service was really fun with the super nice older ladies. This place has been around a minute and you can tell bun in like a super fun way. Overall we were super happy we went this route for lunch. They also had a nice looking little salad bar you could hit up as well. If you are in the area it is worth checking out. read more

The meat was a good quality and cut, tender and flavorful - the carrots tasted fresh as well - and the gravy was perfect! My Dad also got the lunch special with an additional side salad - it was loaded with a medley of greens (which you often only get iceberg...but not here!), peas, carrots, beets, flavorful tomatoes and delicious blue cheese dressing! Stopped here for dinner on our way back to SLC after the Annular Eclipse. Quiet diner with great homemade 'comfort' food. My daughter enjoyed her grilled cheese, my wife enjoyed the burger and the Steak ends with grilled onions and sautéed mushrooms was fantastic. All in all a filling meal for less that $50. read more
