Wanting to purchase a duplicate electronic key fob for my car, I called six locksmith companies and three car dealerships - I'm in the habit of doing my due diligence when it comes to dealing with tradesmen. All the locksmith companies, with the exception of one, offered varying prices, services, and conditions. Without exception, they seemed to be making it up as they went along. This involved wild swings in prices, hidden exceptions, and a rush to obtain a commitment the dealerships were somewhat more professional, but their prices, as it turned out, were 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 times what turned out to be reasonable - that's where Green Valley lock and safe came in. Went in and had two remote keys that I bought online cut for my Toyota SUV, they came out perfect, charged $5 per key. Although they could not program them they referred me to another locksmith who can program car keys and costs a quarter of what the dealership was asking. The gentleman was having a heated political discussion where he began trashing President Trump! I have a floor safe that was locked when I bought my home. I hired a company to find the original combination, but the combo must have been changed by a previous owner. I had contacted numerous other companies who either said they could open the safe and replace the lock but couldn't, or who gave me higher quotes, but no one was able to get the job done until I contacted Green Valley Lock & Safe. The replies to my questions were quick and I was able to schedule right away knowing the cost upfront. Some other companies wanted to charge me over $100 more. They scheduled me for a two hour window and showed up right on time. Dave told me what he would be doing with my safe and my options for replacing the lock. He was in and out quickly and left my safe in working order and the area clean and tidy. Unfortunately there wasn't any treasure in the old safe (dang). They sent an employee who seemed affable but had no regard for either common courtesy or safety: He chose to enter our home maskless, even though we were fully masked. He spent a half an hour or so reviewing the scope of work, left and never called back with our estimate. When we called to request and estimate, Green Valley Lock & Safe said they'd get right back to us. Not. They once again had no regard for customer service. I've been here twice and Mike was rude both times. There won't be a third time. Mike thinks he is God's gift to locksmithing but he's just a crabby old geyser. I saw a Grade II Schlage deadbolt at Home Depot for $40 and I was driving by Green Valley Lock and Safe so I stopped in to compare the price. It was $98! When I told Mike about the Home Depot price he said it wasn't the same grade. When I told him it was Grade II he responded "whatever." I went here to get my car key duplicated (as the casing on mine snapped) and the employees were nothing short of helpful and caring; they had a wonderful, positive attitude! i have been to the store twice for different jobs and each time they found an excuse not to do the job. first one was the duplication of a 1992 Firebird ignition vats key and the second was a re-key of a Tacoma glove box lock. Neither of these jobs are extremely complicated but for some reason, they didn't want to do it. i took the jobs to ABC locks and they had no problems with either job. in and out in 10 minutes. for real simple jobs they would be okay i think but for anything more complicated, i would look elsewhere. read more

I would also give zero stars if possible. I called to inquire about getting a large safe moved and the guy Mike was rude over the phone. If a company is rude when you're simply asking if they want your business, the answer is an obvious "No". Here's an update. I had my wife call back to get a quote for moving the safes. Brought in two motorcycle key blanks to be copied from an old original. The fellow at the counter immediately stated he didn't like cutting keys they didnt sell since they could not guarantee the work. I understood the rationale, but the person kept going on how people frequently bring their own key blanks only to be upset that the key didnt work. He also commented on how poor the original key was due to its age (the reason I was making copies). I told him I would not make a sound if the keys didnt work, that I just wanted to try to make a copy, and if he had a key blank that would work, I would purchase it from their store instead. They did not stock the key. He begrudgingly copied the keys and repeated the disclaimer. Alas, when I returned home to test the keys, they both worked, except the gas tank requires some fidgeting to open. So in the end, good technical service, kinda shoddy customer service. Based upon this encounter, I would likely hit up a different locksmith next time. read more

I accidentally locked my only garage door opener in the garage after washing my car. I was not given a key to the door by my land lord and since it was Saturday, I feared it would be Monday before I saw my car again. Using a locksmith can be a stressful experience. Not only are the conditions upon which you're requesting help usually embarrassing, but there is undeniable sense that you're going to get ripped off by some sleazy organization. I called Green Valley Lock & Safe because they were close (and none of the locksmiths in my area had reviews on Yelp). I was told it would be about a half hour before anyone could show up. Surely enough, 25 minutes later I received a call that the tech was at my garage already working on the lock before I got outside. It was a very tough door to get open, the lock had been damaged and he could not pick it. Not giving up, the locksmith resorted to wedging a metal hook into the garage and disengaged the lock the opener had on it. It was a tough job (in 90+ degree heat) but the locksmith never remained friendly and positive. I was charged $100, standard fair I would think for the amount of time and effort needed. Expensive mistake to make but at least now I have a locksmith in my phone book that I feel I can trust and use in the future. read more
