Everything. Cannon safe owns Stack-On safes and the customer service and ordering process is a nightmare. This is validate all over the internet. They have hold times for literally hours. Do not return emails or follow up on orders. They need 5x more customer support staff. They also lose orders. I have experienced all of this multiple times unfortunately. Would love to say the quality is awesome. The pilaster shelf clips that came with my safe were made of cheap plastic. These clips are meant to hold shelves that can have ammo which can have some weight. Well mine all snapped. Reached out to cannon for warranty. Took awhile to get back to me, but i responded with the info they requested. Got a quick response they would forward to warranty dept and even ask for metal upgraded clips. Just got an email a couple weeks ago saying they were closing my claim since I never responded. I emailed back saying I had responded back before that and was waiting for an approval. It's been a couple weeks and no response. They waged their hands of it. So I went and purchased metal clips of my own. My mom just asked me to buy her a gun safe. This may seem picky, but.... I purchased a Cannon Safe some 21 years ago and never had one problem with it, Until I did. On May 4th I went to open my safe in order to make a trip to the rifle range, and the solenoid in the digital electric lock failed. No problem, right? I have an unlimited, lifetime warranty that covers all repairs, replacement, and cost to open the safe, right? I email customer service and explained the situation, requesting that they contact a locksmith in my area to open and repair the safe. Their response was that they no longer offered that warranty, would not honor the warranty I had and could not complete my request. Further, that I should try a brand new, fresh, battery, that should do the trick. It did not. This was followed by several other suggestions soaking up days and weeks. Long story short, after a month of Cannon stalling, I hired a locksmith who, with Cannons approval and providing the drill point on the safe, drilled the lock (1/4"), the lock did not open. Upscaled to 5/16", and the 3/6", no luck. Last effort, that Cannon did not want me to do, we cut an 8" X 10" opening around the lock, removed the lock and opened the safe. Among the other items in my safe was the original warranty. I sent a scan to Cannon with another request to honor the warranty, or let a judge decide. Surprise, on June 11th I received an offer to replace the safe with a current, comparable, model and partial reimbursement of my locksmith services, about 2/3's. I accepted as it would be less expensive and faster than going t court. I was told, in writing, that I would have the safe and compensation within 4 weeks. No surprise, that did not happen. Long story short, here it is, almost August, and I finally received both the safe and partial payment, after almost 7 weeks, not 4. To be fair and honest, I did the research and, in the size, I was looking for, Cannon did offer the best option, so I will be keeping a Cannon safe. And, I can tell your that only one Cannon employee was any help at all Ceasar, if you have to deal with Cannon customer service, ask for Ceasar, the rest are just a waste of time. Better yet, if you can, DO NOT purchase a Cannon safe. The safes appear to be very good, the company, not so much. read more

Cannon your customer service is a joke. I purchased my 81 long gun at the end of august. numerous calls to customer service either were not answered, long hold times (over 1 hour on one), failed to listen completely to the problem. I could not get into the safe after the 2nd time opening and closing. I had no keys, they sent me the standard "fix", a new keypad. How do you put a keypad on something you cant open? ordered spare and original keys, which never showed up. Hunting season is here. My fix? right angle grinder and a sawsall. What a huge pain in the ass and very expensive too. not again, ever. Next is to torch it and drop both pieces off at tractor supply. read more

If I could rate this company as a zero I would do so! I have been trying since December 21, 2022 to get them to honor replacing my metal KABA electronic safe lock without success. They sent me a cheap plastic replacement, more like a child's toy, which won't even work on my safe! I filed a complaint with BBB and still have no resolve. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY!! I purchased a canon, Stack-On 28 gun fireproof safe through the home Depot. The first one arrived totally damaged and I declined delivery after 3 weeks of dinking around with home Depot I finally got them to reorder a new one which again arrived damaged, however home Depot did comp me for the damage and then I just had to deal with the fact that the key arrived to Bent because the packaging is subpar to what their packaging and the fact that home Depot uses such garbage logistics companies. Still waiting for correct keys to be sent as replacement key does not turn or open the lock. This is a heavy safe and if I need to get somebody to make a key for it then I guess I'll have to do that, however I would suggest you purchase a different brand of safe from a different company as this one is not worth the trouble. By the way, trying to reach this company is BS. You'll be on hold for an hour and then they'll hang up on you. You can email them but good luck going that way they don't get back to you. Really you should try a different company. Next time I'll go to a different company. This company gets one star because a zero star is not available. Purchased new 2010. 13 years later the electronic keypad started eating 9 volt batteries in as little as 15 minutes. I contacted company due to having a lifetime warranty on th keypad. Of course I had to do the dance with a rep. Told me new parts were going to come in from Mexico. But they were back ordered. 6 weeks later a box with parts came in. Not the same and weighed 1/3 of the original part. NOTHING WAS THE SAME . Very cheap plastic, not correct in any way. No instructions, no assistance with issues. Told me to go buy a metric drill bit. Holes to mount were not correct. The keypad is too thin so it won't stay on door. Falls off and hangs by the wire. They also sent a different design latch inside the door. Built incorrectly so it would not set flush. Latch hangs up. I now leave the door open with the lock in closed position do the door doesn't close and lock shut. I was lucky . When this problem of eating batteries occurred the door was opened. To get a locksmith to come drill my safe open it would cost $350-$500. I luckily didn't have to go that route. At this point I feel that a Cannon safe would make a good boat moring. I get emails weekly from Cannon but all they ask is if I'm satisfied. Apparently they don't read the return emails. I purchased a Cannon Safe and right afterwards I started having problems with the lock mechanism. After numerous attempts with the customer service department, I've received a new locking mechanism. This worked for a little while, however started having problems with it as to where I couldn't even get it unlocked. Contacted customer service yet again, they had sent parts under the conditions that I had to agree to contact a locksmith to unlock the safe with the drill point access given by them. The drill access didn't work, the locking mechanism wouldn't release, so the the locksmith had to drill into the front facing of the door. We where denied the life warranty from Cannon due to that the locksmith had to drill into the front facing of the safe. Customer service recommended us to patch the front door! That's there way of fixing my cannon safe which we had paid over a thousand dollars. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone looking for a safe!!!! read more

I've owned two Cannon safes for over 35 years. The newest one (circa 2004) has an electric key pad lock built by "SG". About a year ago it began to fail. I contacted Cannon's customer service for help. They offered to send me a new key pad and lock. I really appreciated the offer, but when it arrived I discovered it was really a low-quality piece of junk built by "NL". I spent a long time on the phone with customer service trying to learn how to remove the SG mechanism and replace it with the NL mechanism. To cut to the chase, I could not install the NL mechanism. I wound up hiring a lock and safe repairmen who charged me $400.00 to replace the old mechanism. He replaced it with a high quality "AMSEC" device. The safe now works perfectly. I am very disappointed with Cannon's customer service. For a company with the reputation of quality products I expect better customer service. When asked for a recommendation of a repair service they couldn't even provide one. Their only help comes via the telephone. Come on Cannon...You should be better than this! read more

I've had my safe for over 15 years but it only gets used once or twice a month. All was well until the door fireproofing came loose and jammed the lock. The fireproofing is made from gypsum and was held in place by machine screws, screwed into the gypsum. This is obviously bound to fail as mine did. The locksmith (who really worked, please see his 5-star review) cost $250 and spent most of the day to open the safe. Using machine screws was certainly a design defect and ended up costing me money and time. Cannon was helpful on the phone and made a locksmith recommendation but that is where the service ended. I wrote Cannon about the problem but they have ignored me. I had to remove the fireproofing which now leaves the contents vulnerable in the case of a fire. With a poor design and no help from Cannon, my next safe will be from another company. read more

Recently purchased a Cannon gun safe, made to hold 42 rifles, so we are NOT talking about a small sized safe. managed to get it home, hired people to help load it into our home. Upon opening the box, and trying to take off the very large "register your product" sticker on the front, we found that it is in fact peeling all of the paint off with it. This started my journey with customer service, or shall i say nightmare. They want to replace the entire safe, which at first sounded amazing, even if a little overkill. However, they only deliver "curb side". After several conversations I tried explaining that we live down a dirt road, and 100yrd dirt driveway. Long story short, they told me to hire people to help me bring old safe to the road, and new safe to the house. But they will NOT reimburse me. Why should I pay MORE money to replace a defective item?? I asked for a decorative sticker to cover the peeling paint, they said no. Monetary refund? NOPE! Then they hung up on me after telling me to have my husband help me carry it!!!! Left messages for supervisors to return my call in hopes of figuring something out, they refuse to leave call back numbers or names, if you don't answer the unknown call. We have now reached 35 emails going back and forth and numerous calls with no end in sight. I own 3 cannon scouts and the supporting rail for the rods on one of the safes failed and I was told they no longer make the parts and they sent a tech out after over a month who was told by cannon to simply heat it and bend it back. So as I told them the metal was going to fatigue and cause the same issue... what do you know lasted a day. The scouts were 1700ea when I purchased them and they want to warranty them out for $699 China safes branded "cannon" then a 799$ one and finally a 1200$ that had no where near the same metal thickness or dimensions. They are a joke after 6months of going back and forth I took measurements and cut some metal and welded it as a support to fix the bending issue which the refuse to reimburse me the $160. I would HIGHLY recommend not buying a safe manufactured by this company (or any company that rebrands their safes and sells them at gun shows. Here's why. I bought a safe in 2009, impressed that the company offered a lifetime guarantee. Well, fast forward to 2015, and I'm finding the guarantee is hardly worth the sticker it's printed on. Long story short, the combination mechanism was malfunctioning. After spending SEVERAL phone calls on hold with their customers service department (each averaging 20 minutes in length), I finally received authorization to have my safe repaired. NOTHING happened, until I called back a week later to inquire as to the status. The representative told me they were having trouble finding someone in my area to conduct the repair. This is in SAN DIEGO people! Within a minute, I had given them the name and phone number of a locksmith. We waited another week for the part to arrive, and when the locksmith arrived, he reported that Cannon had sent the wrong part. But, the outstanding service person (see review of Lee's Lock and Safe), fixed it anyway with parts he had on the truck. Fast foward again to today ... safe still isn't working, and despite having finally made contact (after more time on hold), was promised they'd call Lee's Lock and Safe, to authorize ANOTHER repair (the safe still isn't working). Despite NUMEROUS messages, nobody from the company has called. In short, a marginally good safe, with TERRIBLE customer service. My opinion: the lifetime guarantee isn't worth a dime. Go buy a more expensive safe with ACTUAL customer service. You'll be glad you did. read more

NEVER EVER BUY ANYTHING FROM CANNON SAFE OR IT'S GUNVAULT SUBSIDIARY! The reason is that they have to absolute worst customer service and warranty I've ever seen. I bought a Cannon gun safe over a month ago and the electrical cord had a miss-matched plug for the safe's rear electrical outlet. As one can imagine, moving this monster isn't easy and the safe cannot be used without this necessary fix. My numerous calls to CS and emails to the company have fallen on deaf ears. They'll promise you the moon and either hang-up on you, place you on terminal hold or give you ever excuse known to man (or woman)... but you get the shaft instead. Now with more research I find a ton of identical complaints on the Net, BBB and one great Yelp from Craig S. 1/16/15. I intend to file with the Nevada AG since it appears the State of Nevada was kind enough to "give" Cannon (and it's wealthy owner Aaron Baker) $1.1M in tax-payer incentive to cover relocation costs from a failing CA location. read more
