Green valley used to be a great store. It changed management about a year and a half ago and ever since things have started to degrade. The produce section is particularly bad. Vegetables often do not look fresh and are in short supply. I have twice found no cauliflower available at all. The bananas that are available to buy are usually just bright green, none ripe it all. When I complain about certain things the store management does not really seem to care. I have had so many bad experiences now that I will not go to Green valley unless I have an absolute urgency. read more

Bottom Line: A nice neighborhood market with lots of local brands. I've been shopping at Green Valley Market Place since they opened in 2015 so I figured it was time to update my review. What I really like about this locally owned grocery store is all of the local products they carry, the grab-and-go section and incorporation of the Laurer's bakery. The local indulgences that I get most often at Green Valley are their home made crab pretzels, Smith Island cake and Taharka Brothers ice cream. Other local items Green Valley carries that I often buy there are Roma sausages and various Sun of Italy products. The grab-and-go section has lots of comfort foods likes wings, chicken tenders, dips and pizzas. But they also have some salads that are a quick and easy addition to some of the guiltier selections. When Green Valley first opened in Arnold in 2015 I found that I really had to check dates to make sure that items weren't beyond their shelf date. That doesn't seem to be as much of an issue now. Judging by the parking lot I think items turn over faster now. About that parking lot, what I wish was different about Green Valley Market Place is the parking lot, the lack of ramps along the curb and the crowded self-checkout lines. The self-checkout lanes always feel cramped to me but since they are right next to customer service its convenient if you need help with your transaction. Once you get on the curb with your cart you quickly realize that there are only two narrow ramps to get off the curb and into the parking lot. I realize Green Valley isn't fully in control of the parking lot situation but it sure does have some funky patterns. I often use the back entrance to avoid some of the chaos. read more

Awesome market! Green Valley carries many local products from produce, nuts and meats. Speaking of, the meat section is really good. They also sell live and frozen crab. Haven't tried the live crabs here but am told it's not bad. The bakery and deli are my favorites. Fresh baked goods, oven ready mains and different types of cold salads. The shrimp salad is one of my favorites. The fried chicken isn't bad either. Decent international section, small but you can find basics. The BEST cashiers customer service. *Update 7/30/20 Well, so much for giving kudos to the meats section. When I got home we couldn't eat our meats because they were rotten! I will still return but two meats and both rancid is not a good sign. Will not be purchasing meats from here again. Other reviewers said the same. Adjusting from five to three stars. Still customer service is awesome and the dry goods selection good. read more

I visited this store for the first time about a month or more ago. After that visit, I did not feel an urgency to return. The store was fine, I just did not have any reason to go back. However, I was stopping by another store located in the strip mall and decided to stop in for three items. Though I did not look at my receipt following last Friday's purchase, I was uploading receipts today and discovered that I was charged twice for a carton of egg whites. While I realize that almost one week had gone by, I called the store to determine if they would correct the mistake. The customer service department agreed to correct the mistake. I asked if I could bring in the receipt tomorrow morning. I was told that I could only bring in the receipt today or tomorrow night. Neither of those time frames were convenient for me, so I guess I will forgo the $3.69 refund. read more

I can't even tell you how much I hate this story the only reason I go here on occasion is out of connivence as it's right next to my house. But it's a dirty supermarket, the food never looks appetizing very low quality looking veggies and fruits they never have everything that's needed, staff is incompetent and never helpful. I truly love this place, it has a great variety of condiments and hard to find items at other stores don't take the time to stock. Some of the prices are a little bit more but all in all they are very cost-effective and well stocked. Some of the best lunchmeat around can be found at their deli aisle. Don't waste your money on then the name brands get the in-house fresh cut lunchmeat you won't be disappointed. Their meats are second to none with some of the best cuts of beef and pork around. Their bakery department although it might be small but everything you need fresh and delicious. And oh by the way all of their side salads and pretzels are fresh made in house and are to die for. If you're in the area please give this grocery store a shot you will not be disappointed. read more

Green Valley in Arnold is very convenient for us and they have a good selection of products. I like the sushi which is always very fresh and closer than Joss. Here is my issue: We recently needed to buy bottles of water since our normal delivery service was having distribution problems. Once normal delivery restarted, I wanted to return the two Deer Park empties that I had. I was told by one of the cashiers that I needed to go to the office, which I did. They said that is not how it worked and I could not return my empty for the 6 dollar deposit unless I got another bottle of water. I did not need any more Deer Park water and Green Valley was actually out of bottles of water. I finally encouraged the lady to talk with her manager and she came back and gave me my $6.00. This happened a second time and they had water so I was expecting the same ordeal which happened. I was ready and I told the guy that I previously was told giving the deposit back was "not how it works" and the person went to their manager. Upon hearing that, the guy gave me my $6.00 back. I asked him if it made sense to him to not give me my deposit back and he just walked away. read more

I LOVE this grocery store, but I called 5 times Sunday to try to make a crab order, they set the phone on the counter so I called back... then they couldn't be reached so the front desk worker answering at customer service walked back there. I waited and called back and couldn't get them to take an order. Settled on Joe's Seafood and decided to skip Green Valley from now on. read more

I am only giving one star because the selection of specialty foods like gluten free, allergy free is pretty good. They sell doterra oils and nice soap too. However, the produce is severely lacking, I would even offer, it's just plain bad. The store stinks of crabs. Some of the staff are fine- young kids needing a job, most of them nice. The main problem I have is with the people who shop here, in particular the men. Every time I've come into the store I've been mauled by disrespectful men. I've been hit on and dismissed at equal measure. Shopping here is painful for me and I recommend women to either hide yourself in a hat or don't come in at all. It's a shame because I really wanted to like this place, it's so close to my apartment. But with the bad produce and bad guests, I can't continue to give you business. read more

I love this grocery store to an extent. They have the basics but for some reason there are many items they don't have. On three separate occasions they did not have what I needed so I simply stopped coming here. One time it was tzatziki dip for cucumbers. Second it was a toilet bowl brush, and third it was draino. It could be me since I understand these are super random items but other grocery stores have these items. It's really sad because it is a 5 minute walk from my house and I will go out of my way and drive 10 minutes to safeway or 20 minutes to target. The employees are fantastic though and they sometimes deal with super long late lines right before closing time. read more

This weekend I picked up some catfish and white perch. Just fried the fresh, wild caught local catfish. Sweet, white beautiful. Delish!!

So it seems that if you order Jumbo steamed crabs from them you can get small ones..... because they sell you the small at jumbo prices if smalls were the biggest crabs they got in that day. Are you kidding me?????? How is that right? Such bad service.... read more

This is the third time I have put together an order taking an hour to do so. Once again I tried to check out/pay without loosing my $92 order. No Luck. The order vanished, disappeared into Neverland. Greenvilley needs to make their check out procedure more obvious with a link to put in credit cards and pay. Is theref there some kind of super mysterious procedure I missed? There doesn't seem to be a link or button to click to pay for groceries it took an hour to put in an online order. Very frustrated doesn't even begin to describe frustrated if feel after, again an hour, putting order together. This isn't like picking items off a shelf and checking out. Maybe I will try some other grocery store to order groceries. read more

The location is really convenient, and it's a fine place to buy non-perishable items. But if you buy any food, you have to carefully check all the dates. It's very easy to find products here that are weeks beyond their sell-by dates. The produce is also not fresh. During my last visit, not one carton of strawberries was purchasable. There was mold everywhere and the items shouldn't even have been out. Onions are similar, always soft, dark, and bruised. After having to return several items, I started being much more careful about dates and checking the product. Then I realized my carts were pretty empty - there just wasnt much food suitable to buy. And because of my dietary limitations, they ordered and are stocking things i was having to buy on Amazon at great expense. I really appreciate their accommodating me. So, I hate to say it however, my 2 stars is due to location. Since Green Valley took over most of the items my family would buy are no longer there. I've never returned so much stale, and out dated food in my life. PLEASE CHECK DATES!!! Im not sure what the problem is..you would think with all the new employees , that they would be on top of things. but apparently this is today's customer service. Its truly been Horrible since they took over. Also, I dont know what happened to the bakery. I bought cup cakes and other items, and they were rock hard, certainly not fresh. Oh, well, how do I say this, because I live around here, but I have to write it: I brought back the following: Fish Chicken Eggs This was over a two year period. I also brought back their packaged macaroni (the ricotta went sour). A dozen eggs had two missing; the chicken bought twice, went bad while cooking; the fish was slimy, both the scallops and the flounder- both were smelly. Honest to God, I can't trust this place. So update: June 11, 2019. Bought an "air chilled Bell and Evans chicken." Returned it. It went bad from the time I purchased it at 3:30 to when I got it home. This is a wonderful neighborhood store. I travel from Bowie to this store. If there is a neighborhood store with great service, local products and more than reasonable prices -- this is it! I love this store and I always find the staff helpful and pleasant. Recently, I decided to have seafood for Easter Dinner. After checking out the weekly ad, I decided on Flounder and crabmeat. I called to get some advice as to the best time to purchase. John was so helpful, he made some suggestions and chose the fillets and crabmeat. He hit it out of the park. They were the most beautiful fillets and dinner was a hit. I absolutely love this store. (Just FYI the fried chicken is to die for.) read more

I am compelled to write and give many accolades to the folks who brought Green Valley to Arnold. Our community is certainly blessed that not only a food store finally came to our shopping center, but one of stellar caliber! I have only ever used past markets located there to pick up a few items here and there. I'm happy to say that Green Valley is worthy of doing my entire weekly trip as the quality, freshness, variety and value rivals the other big chains in the area. Love the special touches of coffee, make up, organics, specialty chocolates, pre-made foods, etc. I wish the owners all the success in the world! This place is fantastic. So clean, and I mean Fully- Stocked, including tons of gourmet items and fresh produce galore. Love, love, love! Wockenfuss candies, in-store bakery and more plus bulk candies...can you believe it? It's a small Harris Teeter right here in our community. I hope this neighborhood appreciates what we have. I noticed Green Valley Market Place driving through Arnold a few weeks back. I was curious how this grocer differed from other grocers in the area. Previous grocers in that location were an absolute failure, so I stumbled in. GVMP was clean and organized, the prices were more than fair and everyone is eligible for their prices (no club-cards). They had an array of healthy and organic options, those prices were fair as well. Though GVMP is a little out of the way for us, I do still plan on shopping there. I wish more would appear in this area. read more

I shop at this store all the time but I have some concerns the employees there when you ask them a if they have something they respond like you are bothering them by in an annoyed way they say if they do or not and if not they don't offer something else to you they also don't have good attitudes especially the cashiers however the prices are very good and so are the prices at Weis in Pasadena and the ground beef is excellent here I just wish the service was a little better read more

We are indeed fortunate to have such a nice grocery in our neighborhood. It is a relatively small store so there will always be items that are not available here. But I imagine most of your grocery shopping can be accomplished at Green Valley. The people who work here are always pleasant and helpful. And it is so convenient! The seafood section is very good as is the meat and the bakery. I have always found the fruit and vegetables to be fresh. And remember, if you don't support your local businesses, pretty soon you will have empty storefronts instead of a vibrant commercial area in your neighborhood. read more

I really really wanted to like this place for connivence sake but it is just sub par. I am giving it two stars because of the hard to find organic items, but the fresh food is anything but fresh. After several disappointing trips I returned today while getting a prescription filled. I bought meat/bananas/ tomatoes. I opened the tomatoes when I got home and my finger immediately went into 2 rotten ones. Not surprised. I went to cut of my fresh looking meat and it was completely brown and nasty on the inside. Green Valley is by far the best grocery option in the entire Arnold and Severna Park area. Fresh produce with a good selection and the best prepared foods for miles. I go out of my way to get their hot soups! All handmade AND all natural ingredients, which is always a plus. Their chicken salad is hands down the best I've had. They also have awesome sushi - not the usual poor quality "grocery store sushi" you find at other places. And the prices on their prepared foods are great! $5, including tax, for a sushi tray and just $5.99/lb for their cold and hot food bar (where you can get that awesome chicken salad). Most stores charge $8-$9/lb for food of far poorer quality and taste. So glad this place came to Bay Dale! It's also a locally owned and operated business - buy local!! read more

Green Valley Marketplace is a great place to shop. Their store has a small town, local feel when you walk in the door. They carry lots of specialty items including, food from local businesses, allergy friendly and gluten free foods and bins full of individual K-cups for Kuerig coffee machine. read more

I just left Green Valley in Arnold for the last time. When I scanned my 18 count eggs and found out they were $5.99 I turned around to the unfriendly blonde at the customer service desk and told her I thought this price was absurd. She not only gave me a weird look, she offered no explanation or comment. I live around the corner from this store and only come here when I absolutely have to. I have reported this price gouging to the state just now and suggest you be careful in this store. Their store in Pasadena is awesome, their people are friendly and the store itself is larger. Their deli is much better too. Also take notice that Arnold's store all of a sudden is not offering their Tuesday rotisserie chicken for $4.99. When I asked about this change I was told there is something wrong with their price label device. Ridiculous.This store is looking to make money anyway they can. The reason I only gave 2 stars is because I have had an incident at greenvalley as an employee. I was working there for 4 months in bakery dept.I really thought I would of been there for awhile I liked the job and co workers in bakery were the best. Most of my shifts I would always stay and help to get things down which I did not mind at all and truly thought I was helping doing a good job and was appreciated. Much to my surprise one morning went to work stopped and questioned by bakery asst. Manager saying one of the managers said to her that myself and co worker night before was dancing around goofing off and having dinner together due to coworker buying a chicken for her cat. This was not true at all and when I am told things not true involving myself I get very upset. Told them was not true and to go review their store camera. Was never done. Bothered me all day and manager accusing me his name is John. My other co worker that was due in in afternoon got there and just returned from Florida on her Thanksgiving trip away which I was concerned about if she had had a covid test before returning due to me being concerned due to my husband being high risk due to cancer.store did not require no special rules due to Pandemic. So when I talked to her her answer was no her parents do not believe in it and she could do nothing for fact is she is 17. As was already upset my voice got excited to where seemed like I was yelling which im sorry it came out like that and she had no idea what I was accused of earlier. She got upset was crying left store then I got more upset left store also did try to apologize did not work. I did call store manager Tom Easton apologized to him did not go far to point I could not have my job back but other co worker kept her job and the reason for me being out of character was never brought up no meeting nothing. I hope Mr. BENGI THE OWNER will get to read this possibly talk to John and tom managers for them to realize they should not make remarks not true.
