I shop here often. I like the selection and the staff is helpful. The problem I have is with the cleanliness of the store. The entranceway and the stairs to the garage are chronically filthy. I shop here often The other day I was in there and I had a basket full of groceries probably two $300 worth and I was walking to the front I was getting some roses for my wife and a lady said don't do it buddy and I said pardon me!!?? And she did not say anything I asked her again ma'am are you talking to me? This is my neighborhood grocery store and it does the job: not a particularly spectacular business, but what do you expect from a grocery store...? That said, the reason for this 3-star review is for my experience with the deli today. While walking through the store, I saw the deli had their chicken tenders and potato wedges out. Seeing as they're not always offered every day of the week, and I hadn't eaten anything all day, I figured getting some lunch here might be a good idea. Normally, the hot food here is pretty good and they offer a $9 meal deal that comes with chicken and two sides. After some confusion over what I wanted (the employee gave me the wrong food by accident), I wrapped up my shopping and headed home only to discover the chicken I had received was DRY. It was giving desert. It was giving day old Popeyes biscuit with no beverages in sight. It was sad. I wanna say that perhaps it was slow today and, instead of making a new batch and letting this one go to waste, the deli just risked it in the hopes the chicken was still edible but alas... no dice. The wedges were fine and had a nice crispy shell with a pillowy potato center. Overall, this was a bit of a letdown and while I don't expect food from a grocery store to deli to be Michelin star quality, I still expect it to be edible. I don't know why I do it. Safeway has been at the bottom of the barrel grocery for nearly 15 years. From time to time it seems to be the most convenient option for water and a quick snack. I am hoping this one is burned into my brain .If you're looking for quality prepared foods you can forget about it. I've been at Safeway's where the bottom of the salad was sitting in rotten vegetable liquid. Today's sushi didn't fail to disappoint either. It should've been eaten three or four days ago regardless of what it said on the lid. It nearly made me vomit as didn't eat it all but I ate too much. Go to Giant or Harris Teeter for a better shopping experience and much better foods. Did I mention that the Safeway has high prices, poor customer service and never enough checkout clerks. read more

I have been ingesting mold from my straw for a few days now so I decided to go to Safeway to buy new plastic ones. I was looking through isle after isle and never strolled upon them. All that's missing is Katherine Ross. ADVISORY: This review contains a movie reference to a 70's cult classic. I can't believe that no one's reviewed the newly-remodeled Safeway yet. We used to have this tired, old Safeway that looked like a throwback to the 50's. Think of a grocery store in a former Soviet Eastern Bloc country or a Piggly Wiggly in an Alabama rustbelt town. That was our "super" market. They spent about a year remodeling it, and it reopened this fall. "Remodel" probably isn't the right word. They totally demolished it, tore down the adjacent strip mall, brought in a small mountain of dirt fill, and completely re-built the store. It's gorgeous. If you're old enough to remember the 1975 Stepford wives, not the silly 2004 Nicole Kidman remake, there's a scene at the very end where the newly-lobotomized Katherine Ross is pushing her cart down the wide aisles of this perfect supermarket. That's the new Safeway, except its not creepy. There is even a parking garage underneath the store with one of those escalators that you put you cart on to take it down to the car. How cool it that?! Why five stars? I needed some brown grocery bags for a winter clothing drive that I was doing for the local Hispanic community, and they let me take as many as I needed. read more

Bottom Line: From parking to checkout, this store is dismal. I loathe this Safeway. As previously mentioned, the layout here is awful. Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, I found that they have segregated Karo Dark Corn Syrup and Karo Light Corn Syrup. I'm not exaggerating. One is located in the baking aisle why the other is in with the pancake syrup. It's 2016. Let's stop segregating the corn syrup. Even the employees at the Deli have taken the time to tell me how awful this store is. Aside from being unprofessional, their long rants aren't a good use of my time. This awkward conversation followed as the gentlemen handed me a frozen chicken breast that was supposed to be grilled chicken. Gross. I should have handed it back to him but I fed it to the dog instead. There are only a few reasons to visit this Safeway for me: diet coke soda fountain, fresh sushi, friendly and energetic young girl at the florist counter and 24/7 hours for the 3am munchies. Don't go through self checkout because the machine messes up the counts to overcharge you. When I went to the counter to have the manager correct the mistake, she told me that I probably should not have used self check-out. And that if I was an employee, I would've been written up for this. With this Safeway, always review your receipts and you'll see all the "mistakes" are in Safeway's favor. So I stand waiting for the cashier to fix the mistake and in the meantime, I had enough time to write this bad review. This place is great during the day. You can stop by the starbucks inside the entrance and sip coffee while you shop. The store has everything, to include fresh flowers. The only problem I have is at night. Anytime I shop early in the morning, there's no one at the register. It says 24 hours but really it's not. While the store is brand new (remodeled over two years ago), the store is small and the layout is a bit cramped. As with any grocery store, your ability to find what you're looking for is based on your familiarity with the store. The underground parking garage is nice when it snows or rains. While it's clean and the prices are just average, we generally shop at the Giant further down the road. It's a much larger store with nice, wide aisle's and the prices are a bit better. This Safeway is not a bad store and shopping here is not a bad choice as we go there from time to time because it's closer to our house, but we just prefer the Giant down the road. read more

To borrow a phrase from the past, the hits just keep on coming... At a recent trip to Safeway (location, location, location) we received an instant coupon at checkout for a free Blue Bunny Ice Cream. Cool, free ice cream. Next trip in we take a look. They don't have Blue Bunny Ice cream! I track down a manager and ask if the coupon can be used for another product and his response to was they don't carry the ice cream and that Safeway would not honor the coupon. Safeway pharmacy. Listen I go to doctors for reason I take meds for a reason but when your pharmacist acts like a doctor and tells me, I shouldn't be taking what I'm taking. There is an issue because I shouldn't be judged for what I'm taking and she said she wasn't judging but she was judging if she was so concerned with me. She get to know me like I watch the pharmacist do with older patients. I understand why she did what she did but the pharmacist doesn't know why I'm on what I'm on. So have to find new pharmacy where I don't feel judged. Why should I feel like crap when I go to pick up my meds?. My three doctors know and they went to Med school for 7-14 years so I trust them and voice my concerns with them. I should not feel ashamed ,judged or anxiety when I have to pick up script. Just was surprised!! For someone who was concerned she obviously wasn't listening to my concerns and my thoughts on this subject . Pretty much my back story which has been very very long finding what worked what didn't and if she was concerned, she might've asked how did you come about these medication's and they're not just used for one thing mine are used for multiple things. But I didn't deserve to be judged when I go to pick up my meds, plain and simple. You might not of meant to judge me, but you can't control what other people feel and the way you were saying , yes I felt judged. Worst customer service experience ever! I was overcharged for an item and went to customer service for a refund. There I was accosted by Dante, who took me to the meat department and showed me a similar item that scanned at the right price. He then insisted that if I felt I was ripped off, " I should call the police". I then requested his manager be brought over and was again accosted, this time by the manager. I was once again made to return to the meat department. Once again, I was to watch a similar item scan accurately. I was denied any refund. I returned to my home to retrieve the item I was overcharged for and returned to the store to get my refund and prove my honesty and integrity. I received my refund, but no apology from Dante nor from his manager. I was simply given an excuse that the scan was incorrect due to being a manufacturer scan and not a store scan. Customer service is not "accuse the customer" This could have been avoided. To tell me "call the police" was not acceptable. Dante and his manager should not be placed in front of customers. I have been a loyal customer for years and have spent thousands of dollars in that store. To be treated like a criminal...no more! This Safeway deserves no stars, but Yelp requires at least one star read more

This location has really gone down hill as of late. It has the potential though to be a really nice store due to a convenient location with underground parking. For starters, I've always thought that their floral department was very nice compared to other grocery stores in the area. However, a few weeks ago they had a very slim selection and when I inquired was told that their shipment didn't come in. Additionally, the prices have increased and the flowers don't seem as fresh. Next, I've always been impressed with their produce department, but that too has gone south....from what I understand because of a new vendor. The deli is another bleak department. Always a long wait and most of the time the meats aren't cut correctly. Obviously, the employees don't understand the concept of "chipped" or "shaved thin." It would help if they held the first cut up and asked if it was to your liking like other grocery stores do. As for the checkout lines, again, a long wait. On their busiest days, it is common for only two lanes to be open in addition to the self checkout lanes. And last but not least, the customer service desk. Nine times out of ten, no one is there which requires hunting someone down. Hopefully, management will make the necessary changes to improve this location based on customer input and in reading the reviews I do see a lot of negatives. read more

I do love this store and shop here all the time. It is convenient and clean. It has two man problems. The prices tend to be just a bit more then Giant for example and there meat section could use some help. There prices on meat is usually vary good but the cuts you find are strange. You can find the same cuts marked as three different things and whoever cuts them needs a straight edge to work from. A steak may be 1 inch thick on one side and half an inch on the other. Some lessons on how to wrap meat without breaking the plastic wouldn't hurt either. read more

Honestly, I liked the old safeway a lot more. Something about it just seems so frantic and unorganized. Everything in the old one used to be very simple to find, but this one makes finding what I'm looking for very difficult and confusing. I recently decided to get some chicken and a sandwich from the deli, and it was terrible. I could have made a better sandwich at home, but at least the deli food is somewhat cheap.. The prices are great especially if you're a member of the club. Checkout is always incredibly easy, which slightly makes the amount of time I spend navigating the small and confusing aisles. read more

I visit this grocery store at least twice a week. Fridays are the best days to go, as they have some really good specials. The meat and seafood departments are great and if you're ever looking for a good dessert, get their freshly made coconut cream pies! This place has everything, is well organized, and has super friendly staff. I've gotten to know most of them and I always get a smile. If it's raining, snowing, or just super freakin' hot outside, you can park in the garage and take the elevator. I love this place! read more

I'm a former employee at this store and I will tell you it is a good store to shop for groceries but beware of Ben He is a front end supervisor with a very eccentric personality.The management of the store I might add is horrible to their employees and only nice to customers So don't apply for a job there bad hours given to employees and their attitude toward employees is disgusting so work elsewhere They have a good bakery produce and deli however the floral dept always has be called to help you since they are rarely at the counter . Safeway regular prices are very high although some specials and just for you are often a good deal. However just for you deals have not been as good as of late. Recently Safeway switched to lower quality versions of the Phillips and Handy brand crab cakes but kept the price the same. Less protein on the package translates into less crab in the crab cake. Safeway has kept their own butchers but many of their cuts are done in a substandard way which offsets the benefits of an in store butcher. I often buy beef short ribs, a cut if done and cooked correctly can be very good. Even if the Safeway butcher cuts the short ribs for you bone in, it has much less meat and is dryer than any super market version that I have tried. Safeway beef as a whole is poor. Their ranchers reserve store brand was atrocious, select grade meat injected with liquid meat tenderizer but sold at near choice grade prices. I view the poor beef quality as a corporate directive and not the butchers fault. No gas stations now near me for their gas club.. For price, Food Lion beats Safeway easily while Wegmans easily beats Safeway for quality and price. I would give Safeay 1.5 stars if I could but I will round it up to 2.0 because of just for you program, their 24 hours in Arnold, and their two locations being close to me in Severna Park. . read more

I ordered a floral arrangement as a centerpiece for my dining room table from Yunior Gonzalez, the Floral Manager, and it was the most amazing one I have ever received from any florist. As I requested, he made it loose and colorful and included little Halloween ornaments including black witches, scarecrows and a butterfly. The flowers still look good after 2 weeks! He was quick, responsive, polite and it was very reasonably priced. Everyone who saw it commented on how outstanding it was. Run, do not walk, to him the next time you need a floral arrangement and you will not be dissapointed!
