Green Valley Produce offers most basic veggies and fruits at a reasonable price. Other products available are grains, pasta, dairy and some canned food. Their hours can sometimes be a little inconsistent at times. They are usually open everyday even on holidays and offer delicious fruits in the summertime. Parking lot is kept clean but you have to drive in slowly if you have a low car. I've scratched my bumper a few times driving in too quickly. My fault, not theirs. Atmosphere is usually quiet, people don't tend to browse and usually go in and out. Staff is friendly and helpful with finding specific produce. Green Valley Produce has been around for at least 20+ years but first time visiting after a 6 year absence. I believe new owners and gentleman working was friendly and welcoming. I mainly visited for the fresh roasted peanuts which was the big draw here over the years. Sizes ranging from a small, medium to large bag @ $3.99/lb. The medium will get you a lb. Not sure when they were roasted but still good. Green Valley Produce is a small open store/stand offering fruits, some veggies, (no fresh herbs) and Middle Eastern spices, some vacuum-sealed meats, lentils, olive oils, dates, and some all meat puff pastry and vegetarian pies made locally. I left with some okra, yams, garlic, ginger spices, homemade beef pies...and of course, roasted peanuts. *** Overall 3.5 stars *** Pricing on fruit reasonable considering I just went to the Farmer's Market and noticed Green Valley selling the same Cara Cara oranges for 1.89/lb vs $3.89/lb which will get ya 4 oranges! I'm all for supporting small business but sheesh! Open 7 days a week from 830am - 730pm I wouldn't go out of your way to stop by unless you're wanting some roasted peanuts, reasonably-priced fruit and veggies and in the area. Support small business! Haven't been to a fruit stand type of business in a long time and recently discovered this one after shopping at Grocery Outlet nearby. This is indeed an old school style fruit stand that has all the items in an open area, and it's definitely not the cleanest establishment for sure. You can visibly tell it hasn't been cleaned in a long time. The pricing here is okay, it's not the cheapest, some things are cheap, while others are a little on the pricey side for certain things. Some things you could definitely purchase elsewhere and it would be cheaper. The customer service is okay, it's the same guy every time we come and he's pretty nice. Always asking how we are doing etc. Just make to always get a receipt, so you can double check to see how much you were charged. Overall, just a 3 start rating for this establishment. read more

I love to stop by the stand. I often combine it with a jog through the AJ's Coffee booth across the street. I love that the owner remembers his customers and talks to them himself. I like to buy whatever local produce he has, and then some things that he has which are special, lavash, labneh, unique dried fruits, special cheese, orange blossom jam, delicate little cookies to have with coffee. He also has a nice selection of dry goods and the staple groceries you'd need for stocking the pantry: eggs, milk, butter, rice, The goods here aren't perfect but they are personal and I really appreciate that in this age of overly mechanized faceless corporations. I've been shopping here for years and like this place for a few reasons. The fruits and veggies are affordable. I find quality and freshness and what I need. They have great variety and things you might not find easily elsewhere. They sell high quality Olive Oil, and I try not to get mine from anywhere else. They have things like baklava, roasted fresh peanuts, and a good selections of spices. You might find fresh tamarind or some quality pies and cookies here. It's definitely worth stopping by. The guys who run the place are cool and friendly, I like that if I want to buy just a single carrot or a couple stalks of celery to make soup without buying the whole bunch, I can do that here. read more

Every time I go they have different international goodies near the check out. Once was crumpets, pomegranate candy and my favorite, Lavash. Of course they had great deals on fruits and veggies. This is my second visit and BY FAR better than the first, which was a couple of years ago. I dont know who the gentleman at the register was, but what an awesome guy! They didnt have any basil up front, he went to the back and got some for me! These prices for the stuff I got was INSANELY AWESOME! I got kale, beets, greens, squash, zucchini, basil, garlic, carrots, celery, potatoes, lemons and cilantro for $10!! Holy Toledo Batman! It was totally worth it and these prices are crazy good! If you spend $10 or more, there is no fee to use your card. If you spend less than $10, it's a 50 cent fee. Dont forget to bring your bags! The greens are incredibly affordable and the healthiest for you! I made enough caldo de pollo (chicken soup) with veggies for like 6 people, and it ended up costing me $9 total to make! Tip: I purchased a whole rotisserie chicken from Costco for $5 (deboned it to make chicken soup with it), and spent $4 on the veggies that went into that soup, spending $9 total. And now I can feed an army! Hahaha. I totally recommend this place! ESPECIALLY if you love healthy greens for juicing, sauteeing, etc for next to nothing! I will def be returning! read more

Took my sister to a house up the street to pick up some cookies.. on the way back down B Street I see this place and HAD TO STOP IN. What a gem!! Fresh veggies at great prices. Park in front and it's a quick in and out! They have a lot of good dried fruits (figs, apricots, dates) and nuts. Interesting mid-east section of food. They have halva (sweet nut treat) and Turkish delight! Mmmm- I got the red one with pistachios- omg, yum. Service was very nice. Place was clean. This is going to be a Sunday stop-by for the week's produce! They also have some dairy items for a quick pick-up, and dry goods like pastas and crackers. Best fresh produce store in Hayward! Me and my wife love going here to get our fresh produce. The price is very cheap compared to bigger grocery stores. I love that all the fruits, and vegetables are always fresh, and they always have something new depending on the season. The quality is great! The guy at the counter is really awesome! The customer service experience is top notch. That's why me and my wife would always go here for our produce. They have great selections of fruits and vegetables and other stuff just like a mini grocery store. On another trip to GVP I did buy some of the Martini's Greek Olive oil and all I can say is TRY IT. The flavor is unparalleled. Have been making salads from my garden with Arugula, Kale and Purslane, beets, red onion, the amazing Greek olives that GVP sells, with lemon juice and that olive oil. Fantastic. The local HONEY is also incredible, worth a trip for those alone. read more

I love a Saturday morning at the Farmers Market followed by a visit to the neighboring library. But, Saturday mornings being what they are, usually I miss the boat. Before I know it, it's after 1pm and the Farmers Market is closing. Happily, I have discovered Green Valley Produce. I come here on Sunday afternoon, and pick up my produce for the week. My girls are big fruit eaters, and they love picking out their snacks for the week. Sometimes they'll even pick out a vegetable or two. (Perhaps this is to keep me from selecting the broccoli.) Green Valley Produce has terrific variety (I counted four types of tangerines today, plus the more exotic offerings), and really good prices. They also carry some dairy staples and other packaged items. It has a real neighborhood feel to it, and it makes me happy. read more

Disclosure: I friggin' love produce stands. That when driving and noticing one, I either stop or take note to stop to check it out. I love the whole old school feel of it all. Now aside from the true outdoorsy feel of this place, it didn't really deliver the goods. Don't get me wrong, there are some fresh produce here, but nothing really special. And with the growing number of ethnic grocery stores out here, it is even more so nothing special. If I lived in this neighborhood, than sure I may be a regular. But for now, I may pick up something loaded with fiber or rich in antioxidants, after feeling guilty for pounding a juicy burger with a monstrous shake at Val's across the way. I have been coming to this place for years! Even before the current owners I loved getting my fruits and veggies from here. Especially with the new owners it has been nothing but great costumer service. The reason for my low rating and why I probably won't be visiting this place again has to do with my experience the other day. In the midst of all this Coronavirus craziness, it's incredibly disappointing to see some local shop owners take advantage of people's desperation and raise prices. Since I come here so often I am familiar with prices, that and they didn't do a very good job of hiding the previous pricing under the new price. I was there just two days prior and the prices for everything was 30 to 40 cents less per pound. If there is a reasonable explanation I would love to hear it. read more

Friendly open-air grocery with reasonable prices. They also carry a variety of spices and grains, especially Mexican. A+ customer service. On average the quality and price of produce is on par with Safeway but you can find things that are a lot better, especially if you stick to produce that is in season and are flexible. There are also things that Safeway doesn't stock--like four varieties of eggplant, including Chinese and Indian, and recently these delicious jumbo-sized mandarins I'd never seen before. Inspect the produce carefully though as it may be on the older side (for example I've seen some moldy raspberries). read more

Excluding a couple of splurgey packs of fancy prunes (which are the best prunes I've ever had BTW), I spent a little over $30 for enough produce to last my 3-person household a couple of weeks. I bought fresh basil for $0.79/bunch, and I don't usually see it for less than $1.49 at the nearest Albertson's, so we're having fresh pesto this week. Yummm. What a nice alternative to the farmer's market, which I usually miss because I work most Saturdays, and it's right on a bus line as well (AC Transit #80). I can't even begin to tell you how happy I am to have found this place, I've lived in this area for 3 years and hate buying veggies at Albertson's. I have been trying to reduce my grocery expenses, and started going to Grocery Outlet, across the street. This place caught my eye yesterday, and I decided to stop by. Well, good thing I did! I left with a week's worth of produce (I eat a lot of fruit) for under $30. In fact, I even bought more than I usually would have. A run at Safeway would usually cost me $60-$80. All the fruit and veggies are tasty so far. Some things are a bit past their prime, but you know what you're getting, and the price can't be beat for 95% of things! The lady keeps to herself but knows her stuff and is friendly. The receipt is itemized(!) and the prices match the tags. No CC, but accepts debit for a small fee. read more

When the Saturday Farmer's Market on Main Street in Hayward comes to a close and...Oops...you slept in...you can always come here to GREEN VALLEY PRODUCE (otherwise, lovingly known as "The B Street Market") -- open 7 days a week -- and get your fruits and veggies (and some random canned food) for half the supermarket price. Better than that, we all know why you go to the Farmer's market: the fruits and veggies actually have flavor! For example: the oranges are sweet, instead of tasting like a flavorless paper towel! Green Valley's produce is the same...you just have to dig a little. Like shopping at a consignment store...better prices, rarer finds. Since the fruit/vegetable stand closed near my place, this has been my alternative. Where else can I get fruits/vegetables at about half the cost of a supermarket? It's not the freshest, but it's still good. Peeled garlic in a Ziploc for $1...what a deal. This is a little produce market in Hayward. It has a variety of fruit and vegetables but not much else. Some of the items looked a little old and they must have run out of strawberries even though their signed featured bing cherries and strawberry. This market is probably good for those that live close by that don't want to travel far to a market for produce but not worth traveling too far for their items. read more

I and my wife shop there occasionally (once or twice per month). Every other time (especially when we pay with cash) we are not given receipt. That was also a case today. When we are taking weights of the purchased groceries at home on precise scale, they were less than in store receipt (if we had one). Usually we were overcharged 5-15%. Today we were overcharged 40%. We asked several times in the past (when we had receipts) in case prices in the receipt do not match price tags, and were told that price tags got changed, but cash register prices were not. And were given refunds. But this is only when we were given receipt. And you cannot validate the weight of the products immediately. So, if you shop in this store, you need to ask for receipt and validate prices on it immediately. However, there is no guarantee on weight correctness. I would not recommend this store to anybody, and we'll avoid it in the future. read more

Sometimes it's pretty sketch and not that clean, but the fruit is yummy and it's all reasonably priced. It's a good place to stop by for a watermelon or something quick on your way home if you live in the area. It's all open air and makes you feel like you're in Hawaii even though it's 50 degrees and you're in Hayward. read more
