*FYI* This is not a pop in and out store !!You will not be walking out of this store without buying something I know this for sure ! Remember I told ya so ! We loved this market. So many options! It's huge inside! The parking lot was a bit crowded, but it was a Saturday afternoon! The meat area in the back of the store was busy, but BIG! Many red meat options & seafood from MASSIVE king crab(s) to so many east asian staples. We will definitely be back! I took so many pictures of items in the aisles because I didn't want to miss anything but I didn't want to stand in front of items for too long lol.

Mei Mei Market did a an upgrade. Larger space and large parking lot. However, with this upgrade, I would expect more services added. The trend for larger grocery stores seem to add a hot deli section, a bakery, small fast food cafes or even specialty boutiques, but it was missing. The fresh produce section is slacking, they need a LOT more fresh produce. Their popular seafood section is now more abundant. Lots of frozen food and a huge variety of ice creams. Glad I was able to find my ingredients for healthy herbal soups!

Mei Mei Chinese Market just opened up in Castro Valley. With the new opening there is plenty of room to improve. Here is the initial assessment: Pros Large variety of frozen foods Large variety of fish and seafood Live tanks Butcher meat case is ok New shopping carts Cons Limited grocery items Small fresh produce and fruit offerings Higher prices then Ranch 99 Check out stands are small Shared parking with HL Peninsula restaurant next makes finding a space hard

This market relocated from the Marketplace area and then exploded in size. Huge, clean and great service: - bathrooms behind the live seafood tanks - produce galore - fresh and good prices - $26.99/lb matsutakes - low sodium organic miso paste - high quality dairy - Alexandre - most items are from China, hopefully they procure more from Taiwan in the future Previous location there were issues with quality/expiration dates and they would not honor exchanges/refunds without receipts - even for regulars. Impressed! Would recommend coming off-hours, it's a zoo on holidays and weekends like any grocer.

I came here with my family today, and Mei Mei Supermarket really stands out. They carry so many items that most Asian grocery stores don't have, which makes shopping here a lot easier. The prices are slightly higher, but it's understandable because the store is very clean, well-organized, and offers a much wider variety. Overall, it was a great experience for us, and it's definitely worth the visit if you're looking for specialty items in a clean and well-maintained market. Everyone here is so friendly.

The new and spacious Mei Mei Chinese Market is located in a shopping center along Castro Valley Blvd, between Marshall St and Forest Ave. It operates in the space previously occupied by Rite Aid. My family and I checked out this new market on 10/04/2025. It was very busy when we pulled into the parking lot at around 3:30pm. The ingress/egress points were poorly designed and created a lot of confusion for drivers. Once parked, the first thing I noticed was the soon-to-open dim sum restaurant next door (HL Peninsula). I can see parking will be a problem when they are open for business. Upon entering the market, the first section we encountered was produce. They had a decent selection, but not as vast as I thought it would be. Prices were about the same as 99 Ranch. The meat section, located in the back, featured a wide array of fresh and frozen choices. Most of the stuff was not pre-packaged. Prices were fair in my opinion. The seafood section, also located in the back, was probably the most interesting part of the market. There were at least a dozen large live tanks. Aside from the usual fare, they also had live high-end items such as Australian lobsters, leopard coral trout, king crabs, Vietnamese mud crabs, etc. I couldn't think of another Asian market in the Bay Area that has such a fancy selection. We ended up buying a couple hundred dollars worth of stuff. The staff we encountered were friendly and polite. Mei Mei is a nice market addition to the East Bay. They will be added to my rotation. 4 stars.

They have the Brisket chips here!!! So tasty!

It's great there's a bigger Asian store in Castro Valley. They were just a smaller store previously and relocated to a bigger spot. Parking can be tough because they share HL Pennisula parking lot. They have the essential items you would need at an Asian store. They do seem to cater a younger generation with variety of viral ice creams and snacks. They close quite early for a grocery store - 7pm. Hoping they have a successful run at this location.

Lots of parking in their parking lot. The only thing is that not all the lights come on and it's pretty dark in some parts of the lot when it gets dark. A bit uneasy if you go alone. Came here to check out some snacks. The place is nice and clean. This place has a lot of your average Asian needs. Looks like they're still increasing their inventory. And it just so happens that this place has some of those internet viral snacks. We got some of those fruit gummies that you can peel. Also, got some Asian chips. They even have those Lucy apples. The ones that are pink inside tasting like berries. Even got to try their fried cluckin ice cream. Some of their stuff are pricey. Like the fried cluckin ice cream cost $14.99 for three in a box. Didn't experience any customer service on the floor but the cashier was pleasant.

They moved! Although they don't have as much as other Asian stores have to offer yet, I am sure many more will be added on later. Hopefully frying station so we can buy fish and they fry for us there Parking lot is big though try avoiding coming here on the weekends.

Mei Mei upgraded with this new space!! They have a parking lot that was pretty busy because they opened recently. They also had a security guard in the parking lot which was a nice add! Inside, the aisles are spacious and there's a variety of things! There's asian fruits and veggies, snacks, candy, drinks, etc. I think because they opened recently they haven't finalized where things are located so they do not have prices shown for everything!

Nice newly renovated location! Asian supermarket with lots of space and variety! Grand opening today! Come visit today! The venue is much bigger than its prior location, maybe a tad bit too big for the current inventory. We were hoping grand opening would come with some specials or anything out of the ordinary like special greeting from its owners, however, all of this was nonexistent and the store had many many items that didn't even have any prices. We will come back in the upcoming weeks, and hopefully things will be better labeled and priced. Inventory on the seafood side was quite lacking but perhaps they were still moving in. Regardless, it's nice to have an Asian market in Castro valley with ample parking too!

This is a nice Asian supermarket right next door to HL Peninsula restaurant. It's clean and well organized, and everything was well stocked when I arrived on a Saturday afternoon. There's produce, meats, seafood, frozen meats, noodles, spices, live crab and seafood tanks, beauty products, and pots and pans. Like most supermarkets, there are tasting stations too. I found everything I was looking for, and the staff was really helpful. Would definitely come back when I'm in the area.

    This was hella good!

After a day of running errands, my brother was giving me a ride home when he says, "I need to get…read moresome flatbread..." I remembered a place on Jackson Street that I had gone to 5 years ago that had a tremendous selection - looked it up on Yelp and it was no longer on Jackson, but was listed in Castro Valley. So we went thought we'd go by and give it a try. Great decision! The "new" store in Castro Valley is much brighter, cleaner, nicer than the old location. I think the old location had more stuff from Eastern Europe, but this new location seems to have a broader selection, with more stuff from Western Europe and the Middle East. The guy behind the counter was very friendly and helpful - always willing to answer questions and even give tips on how to use the products that they sell. And his recommendations have been great - we asked him about which tahini and zaatar to get (they have many different brands/types of each...) and the ones he recommended have been way tastier than any of the brands that you find in most markets. Especially good was his recommendation on lebnah - he said that the brands they carry are all good, but they have some that they package in-house that was special. I tried it - it was less expensive than the other brands, but was the very best lebnah that I have ever tasted! Richer, creamier, with just the right amount of tang. Wonderful stuff! Anyway, Crossroads is a nice, clean, well-lit place with a great selection of unique products, and friendly, knowledgeable sales staff. Well worth a trip!

So I decide to stop in and find out if it's good enough to share with my friends on Yelp. Let me tell you something, you must visit it and buy yourself some Afghani treats ok! I took a bunch of pictures so hopefully they will help you. The place opened 2 weeks ago. It has a great selection of teas, sweet treats, and dry fruits - as we from India like to say( almonds, apricots, raisins and pistachios, etc). They have fresh afghan bread, they have a meat section ! And did I mention the sweet treats! I bought a Sesame paste dessert with rose petals (Tahin Halva) and oh my, what a time to be alive! Haven't had a sesame paste halva in decades! Easy accessibility from Mission Blvd and lots of parking. Go check out this place and elevate your life with some products from the east.
