This is a nice co-op style place. Some of the businesses included are a meat market, Sushi Restaurant, Olive Oil store, Pizza, bakery (Seven Hills Baking), Puerto Rican restaurant, a jewely pop-up, bakery that's known for cream puffs and a grocery store. I'm sure there's a few more that I haven't mentioned. Here's What I Think ... This is a wonderful place to get specialty items and food. Come check it out. Although there isn't much street parking, there's a free parking lot on the sides and back of Marketplace.

I check this place out since I've been seeing it on Yelp whenever I search near San Leandro and Castro valley. Anyways, inside was a grocery store full of different organic food! Upstairs are mini restaurants you can dine in. I get some Vietnamese food it was great! Will come back! Staff are friendly, patience and helpful.

It's been awhile since we last visited Castro Valley Marketplace. So, a lot of eateries have changed. The only businesses that remained the same were the Market (obviously), Seven Hills Baking Co., Akemi Japanese, Baron's Quality Meats & Seafood, and Amphora. Welcome to the new eateries like Beard Papa, Slice House, La Perla, Pho 5-10, Dumpling Kitchen, Cordial Wine Bar & Bottle Shop, etc. They have a lot of food options and mostly inside seating on the first and 2nd floor. I think they have a few outside tables.

Oh oh oh so cute! We formerly patronized LaPerla in Oakland, who moved operations to Castro Valley Marketplace. CVM reminds of me of a smaller version of Emery Bay Public Market in Emeryville..it's the cutest and I love it for the community! As soon as you walk in, patrons are in the grocery store section which is giving mini Whole Foods. There are other small business in addition to eateries. We must return to try the Pho...it looked heavenly.

The marketplace is a very sweet venue with a great collection of businesses inside. I feel like it's the perfect location for a group dinner where everyone has different tastes. You can get Japanese, Vietnamese, american, Puerto Rican, or just something from the grocery or bakery. The grocery has a good selection of foods for various dietary restrictions like gluten free. It's not so accessible. The doors aren't automatic and the parking is quite tight.

What an absolute disappointment to come here at 5:30PM on a Monday and be told that no one can help me in the cheese section. Seriously, sorry - no it isn't closed you just can't select anything not already pre-packaged!! Don't come here looking for anything custom - choose Whole Foods or elsewhere

A very nice, high end grocery store and market! There are also multiple places to eat in here. I saw a bakery, a sushi place, along with cheese and burger options. They also have a very spacious outdoor patio area, perfect for eating, drinking, or just relaxing. When I was here, upstairs had a live band with people hanging out drinking wine! This Marketplace seems like a pretty cool spot in this area, very nice!!

Great place to check out - had lunch at La Perla - delicious Puerto Rican fare- and generous portion too !

This is the best pizza in castro valley with amazing customer service. Definitely delicious food here that will have you coming back for more. Come and check them out. Clean and great atmosphere. Lots of seating. Outside and inside. I want to thank Julio for his help with my request of a special surprise pizza for my family and I. It was perfect. Well balanced. Also the "wise guy" is one of my favorites. Just be sure to tell them what your favorite style is on how well done you like the crust. It makes a world of a difference. Thank you again for your great hospitality and kindness. See you guys soon!

Was craving for ice cream and saw this next door. We live close by from here like couple miles and I was surprised when I went inside. I always go around this area and pass them but never bothered to go inside since I thought it was just a grocery store lol. It's like a "mini-mini" Eataly! There's varieties of food stalls you can choose from such as coffe shop, baked goodies, fresh meat, cured meats, and they have more upcoming. I went inside the grocery store just to get eggs and milk since I am almost out of it anyways. I love it but still yet to try the food stalls. There's one part with a bigger area and seating which is a Pizza place. Looks and smells sooo good! Then there's an upcoming thats Pho and one something like Mexican. Cool place. I like it. Will come back to try a couple of them so I can update my review.

Cute space that's still under development. The market place itself is really cute, they also have a sushi bar, a delicious bakery, and heard papas inside from what I saw. I can also really appreciate the oil selection, the little makers market, and the wine section! Can't wait to see what else comes to vend here. The market place is just big enough with everything you'd need, a great selection of vitamins, cheese, and more. I saw a lot of vegan items there as well :)

Ask the Community - Castro Valley Marketplace

Do they cook the meat for you at Baron's?

No, it’s a traditional style butcher shop.

Can you still sit in the outdoor area even if the stores are closed?

We have before and there wasn't a problem.

Is this establishment open? What are the most recent hours of operation and restrictions?

They're open from 8am-8pm... no restrictions that I know of. I would call about holiday hours though.

Order the ube cheesecake, butter toffee cookie, and a assam milk tea with boba. The order came out quickly. Ube Japanese cheesecake is tasty, not too much ube taste. The butter toffee cookie was the best, it was flavorful, the toffee has added toasted nutty flavor with some sugar. I would get a box full. Overall, has a great variety of baked goods.

It's in a corner of a very cute gourmet food hall and had a good selection of goods left in mid-afternoon on a weekday. Service is also friendly and prompt. I had to get the kouign amann because I always get one wherever I can, and also picked up a plain croissant, currant scone, and panna cotta. The KA was decent; I would call this one a diet KA because they only put the sugar on one side so it was more like a brulee'd croissant. I also have to admit that, while this shaping is very attractive, the direction of the lamination makes eating this feel like shards in my mouth. However, flavor was excellent. The plain croissant is very plain. It's decent but I've had better. The scone and panna cotta, however, were delightful. Both had lovely soft textures and wonderful creamy flavors. The scone held up for two days and wasn't even a bit stale when I finally had it for breakfast. Highly recommend this tucked-away bakery in the Castro Valley!

Seven Hills Baking Co was my first stop as I haven't had sourdough since childhood. I got their classic sourdough loaf. Even though it wasn't warm anymore it was still amazing. It was quite hard to cut into with a serrated bread knife, which I'm not sure whether that's normal or abnormal for gluten sourdough. However, the inside was lovely and soft. Nice strong sour flavor, spongy dough that was almost moist (not at all dry). I want to note on the gluten free front that seven hills baking co offers a few items which they advertise to be gluten free. Though the ingredients may be gluten free, the items are baked in the same kitchen, the same oven, and then put side by side with the gluten in the display case. Furthermore I don't believe their ingredients are all certified gluten free. Therefore I do not recommend seven hills baking co for anybody with celiac disease. Do not buy your friend with a gluten allergy or celiac these items. There is most certainly cross contact.
