Tri tip was amazing and good price!
    Thuyvi M.

I don't even know why I haven't been here to get meats. We picked up some tri tips and tbone steaks. Man the tbones were thick! We threw them on the bbq and man the meat slaps! Ok nevermind slapping meat sounds gross lol. The tri tip quality was so good and prices were cheaper than the supermarkets. Defin cant wait to come back to get more meats and hopefully try out the fresh bbq one weekend!

Overall, the prices are higher than your chain grocery store which is to be expected since it's a small business.

I ended up stumbling upon C & H Meat and read their reviews and seen some pictures so I thought we'll give it a try. C & H Meat is inside Lake Chabot Public Market and there are a few restaurants in there as well. We looked around at what they had to offer and got what we wanted. They already have them prepackaged, so that was nice. I forgot what kind of meats we got but everything was just delicious! I'm glad that there is a place closer by in case we do last minute hot pot or kbbq. Will be back here again in the future.

Bulgogi and Chadol Baegi (thin sliced beef brisket - a staple at KBBQ restaurants) are excellent. I used to have to get the thin sliced beef eye round at 99 Ranch if I wanted to KBBQ at home. Brisket at C&H Meat is a 100x better in terms of flavor and quality for the same price compared to 99 Ranch - $12.99/lb. They have a pretty cool market section that includes craft beer and basic refrigerated/frozen korean goods on the left wall. There is also a small produce section to the left of the butcher counter - not the freshest produce I would say, but not bad if you need to grab something like soybean sprouts and don't want to make another stop. I'd recommend you come here earlier in the day as they do run out of meats towards closing time. Went about 1.5 hours before closing on a Saturday and they were practically cleared out on meats.

As you walk in, you are welcomed by two butchers behind the counter. There are 3 glass counters that stored the following meat options: beef, lamb, Wagyu, and chicken. I decided to go with ribeye and I am so glad that I did! The steak was so tender. There was a slight taste of gamiest as you take your first bite. Manager hear me out first (lol). IT IS A GOOD THING! With most commercial beef that you buy at major grocery stores, the beef either has no natural flavor so you basically have to pour a huge bottle of A1 sauce! Not this one. I only flavored it with a tad of kosher salt and pepper. It was a hit at home! The ribeye was so tender and tasty! If you are in the area of Hayward and looking for some great meat, go check them out and let me know your experience there. I now know where to go pickup my holiday meats! Staff is always on top of things, kind, and you can tell they really are passionate about what they do!

Awhile back, I tried to bring as much business to Star Meat as I could because 1. it's a small business and 2. it's inside Star Grocery (which I LOVE, so it's convenient). When I would go there, there would often be 2 or 3 people behind the counter and oftentimes I would be the only customer. I felt like I had to stand there forever before anyone even acknowledged I existed. Each person would be busy doing something, but there was no "I'll be with you in 2 minutes." Finally, I went one day and there were 3 workers behind the counter chatting with each other. I was the only customer and was standing around 6 feet away from them, looking right at them. They went on with there conversation (not doing any other work) for a full 5 minutes. Finally I thought, "OK, they really don't seem to want my business, so I can go to any one of 4 other places and get what I want." That was a year or two ago. So, today I thought, why not give it another try, it's certainly convenient. Again, I'm the only customer at the counter. One guy is washing equipment and two guys are making sandwiches. I know that they know that I'm there, there are mirrors all along the back wall exactly for the purpose of seeing the customers. After around 4 minutes I think, who knows how long I'm going to be standing here. Maybe they have to make 20 sandwiches and I'll be here for a half hour. So, I left. I don't have anything like this experience at the 4 other meat counters I go to in the area. I'm totally fine waiting if I have some sense that I'm waiting for a purpose and that the worker will get to me as soon as they can. But at Star Meat, it feels like I'm more of an inconvenience than a customer. "Hi, I'll be with you as soon as I can," goes a long way.

First time I got a leg of lamb and more recently some double cut pork chops…read more I'm sure they are helpful if you ask questions but they were pretty busy both times I came in and it felt like you needed to know what you wanted for the most part. For the leg of lamb, I think most people get a whole leg of lamb. That was way too much for me and I think the butcher thought I was confused when I asked for less and asked me what I was doing with it. He ended up saying he could give me a half leg of lamb and I agreed. Thar was about 3 and a half pounds (bone included) which was the perfect amount. I seared it and then braised it and the meat fell off the bone. Delicious and the price was pretty good. I was cooking my first pork chop and decided to come here to get it. Their pork isn't labeled as Berkshire or Duroc or anything but that probably keeps the price down. For chops, they had boneless, bone in, and double cut (which was also bone in). I mentioned I wanted it to be about 2 inches thick and the butcher said to get the double cut.I got 2 beautiful thick pork chops for $6.99 a pound so about $18 total. The regular cut bone in pork chops were the same price though obviously smaller. I brined this overnight and reverse seared it and it was great. The chop was a loin chop- loin and then a tenderloin nugget- not a pure rib chop. Cooked really nicely and was tender which I think was partially the overnight brine and also their pork. They do sell some vegetables and grocery supplies if you want to just make a single stop. They also have a deli with some sandwiches that looked good and prepared foods. I was very focused on buying the things I came in for and getting on with my day both times but I would like to take a closer look in the future as it looked good. Solid butcher shop and clearly loved since it was busy both on a weekend and during the week. I'm sure I will be back.

Hey I like some veggies and fruit and shrooms also but most of my diet is meat and seafood, as mama God intended it to be. It is awesome to have such a nice family owned butcher shop in town that is all about quality. I have purchased oysters, chicken, salmon, bacon and different cuts of meat over the years and all fresh and fantastic. They also have duck which I haven't purchased yet be cause I don't have my brothers insane duck recipe. That will change soon. The other items I buy are bones and oxtails for bone broth. In the freezer section are meaty oxtails, lamb and beef neck bones and sometimes knuckle bones. In the meat counter they have cut up leg bones. My number one place for bones.
