I ordered a super burrito which was very juicy and tasty. Staff there were friendly. The restaurant is inside the supermarket.

    Fresh juicing!

I was already a fan but they stepped it up so I have to give them the extra star! Not only do they have freshly customized juices. They now have a deli section with extra home salads etc. I love the beet, pineapple, ginger and orange juice. Made on the spot!

This grocery store has the best tasting chunky guacamole and other salsa's at their meat department.

Chicken Tamales with rice and beans fully loaded guacamole pico de gallo sour cream with salsa verde it's about to go down

First and foremost, the ambience is nice. I love the music the vibe and then once you go in the food, I love the new changes. The rice is great no more veggies in the rice. Well, I didn't see any in there. I have the chicken tamale meal with the rice and beans with everything guacamole pico de gallo sour cream salsa Verde gotta love it the service cool yesterday wasn't too crowded. It was busy because there was a parade going on in Castro Valley Cowboys getting out there getting in motion, but I'll definitely recommend you go try El Rancho Supermercado. They have a variety of different fresh juices during the day probably in the morning you gotta catch them for the juices Horchata and Fresca They also do Catering as well and they have a great meat selection at their meat counter with different salsa, ceviche, etc. so go and check them out. Y'all got a roll and I had leftovers to finish b4 the Mothers Day dinner

Catering Package #1 $159 for up to 10 people

We ordered Catering Package #1 for $159.00 We were a little concerned when we received our order and it all fit in 2 paper bags. As we unpacked we were happy to see how well packaged everything was. We ordered this for a work potluck. This was a good amount for 10-12 people. Here's our review: Carne Asada - dry but flavorful Carnitas - excellent, favorite Pollo Asado - dry, needed all the toppings Black beans - good, full tray Rice - good, full tray Definitely needed more pico de gallo, guac, limes, radishes, onions. (These were not enough for 10 people who wanted to dress up their tacos) We also ordered: Churros Box (dozen) $24.99 I cut them in 3 pieces. These were a hit. Plain cheese quesadillas (dozen) $28.99 - Good size and perfect for the people who don't eat meat. They added the beans and rice to it. At the bottom of the catering package, it says it came with serving utensils. We appreciated the 2 large serving spoons, but we needed at least 2 more. They did include utensil packets and 10 large to-go containers We also got packaged fruit bowls - mango and cucumber. Both came with packets of Tahine - EXCELLENT! We will be ordering from them again. People really enjoyed the food.

My husband came here to buy burrito after picking up our kids from school because we wanted something quick to eat. We have never tried the food here and glad we did cuz the burrito is good! The meat to rice to bean ratio is perfect. My 9 years old and I like how the salsa is not spicy. Overall, the burrito is great. We would buy here again. This place is across trader Joe's. Parking sucks though. Too many stores with limited parking spot. So please be patient. This place is inside the grocery store, and the restaurant is in the right side. There are seats available if you want to eat here.

Food: carne asada super burrito. At $14, it was sufficiently sized. The meat had a few tough bites. Some bits of the rice were hard. I got their mild roasted green salsa on the side. If I do go again, I think it'd get the salsa in the burrito AND on the side because it was drier than I'd like. They ran out of horchata by the time I got my food (530pm-ish). It didn't come with chips either. Service: they were all friendly, fast, and the man who assembled my burrito was super efficient. Cashier was nice too. Ambiance: it's within the grocery store so you can shop and grab dinner all in the same place. It's located in a busy shopping center and parking is iffy at best. It can be tricky trying to get out onto Redwood Rd so patience and hyper awareness of moving traffic are a must. Not sure if I'd be back, to be honest. It wasn't memorable either way.

I remembered a place on Jackson Street that I had gone to 5 years ago that had a tremendous selection - looked it up on Yelp and it was no longer on Jackson, but was listed in Castro Valley. So we went thought we'd go by and give it a try. Great decision! The "new" store in Castro Valley is much brighter, cleaner, nicer than the old location. I think the old location had more stuff from Eastern Europe, but this new location seems to have a broader selection, with more stuff from Western Europe and the Middle East. The guy behind the counter was very friendly and helpful - always willing to answer questions and even give tips on how to use the products that they sell. And his recommendations have been great - we asked him about which tahini and zaatar to get (they have many different brands/types of each...) and the ones he recommended have been way tastier than any of the brands that you find in most markets. Especially good was his recommendation on lebnah - he said that the brands they carry are all good, but they have some that they package in-house that was special. I tried it - it was less expensive than the other brands, but was the very best lebnah that I have ever tasted! Richer, creamier, with just the right amount of tang. Wonderful stuff! Anyway, Crossroads is a nice, clean, well-lit place with a great selection of unique products, and friendly, knowledgeable sales staff. Well worth a trip!

On the way into the store, I grabbed a shopping cart from a cart corral in the parking lot. Following behind another customer and her children, we found that the southernmost doors to the store were locked. No signage, just locked with customers inside. I knew they did this at night, after dark, but at 5:15 with bright sunlight outside? So we had to walk across the front of the store to the northern entrance. I was on a mission. One of my groups was having a potluck and I was going to bring something that no one had ever brought before. Ice cream! But to make it easy, no scooping, just sandwiches, drumsticks and fudge bars. It can be a crap shoot when buying ice cream from a supermarket. You don't know how well the ice cream has been handled. While the carton might feel solid, there's no way to tell if the ice cream has gone through temperature cycles. I did my best to make sure that the cartons that I chose felt solid. Pasteboard will often show signs of temperature deviations. I put them in my cart and rushed up to the checkstands. I got into a 15-items or less line with one customer being checked out and one other customer in front of me. Remember, all I have is ice cream. And of course, the first customer had questions that required the assistance of customer service. We finally got checked out and before I walked away, I asked the cashier if the south exit doors were locked as well. And she didn't know. According to her, whoever makes the decision just does it and doesn't inform staff. Maybe she's correct, maybe she isn't. I know that when I'm in a management or supervisory role, I always make it a point to let me staff know how to answer questions that customers might ask. Door locking should be set as policy with specific times on signage so the customers are aware. With consistency, customers with mobility issues will know which side of the parking lot they should park on. Ever since Safeway no longer owned Safeway (it's owned by Albertson's), customer service has practically disappeared. And I don't blame the employees, scheduling and training come from the top down. Yes, margins in the grocery industry are quite tough (I've worked in it), but squeezed margins when combined with decreasing customer satisfaction are a formula for disaster. And please, Safeway Customer Service, do not respond to my comments by asking me to fill out a form for more clarity so you can properly address my complaints. That's just creating more work for me. My comments are clear. Invest in some secret shopper reports to see what we, your customers, see and experience. Then make an investment to fix the problems.

We already had an Uber waiting, yet she repeatedly asked, "Where are your groceries? I need to see your receipt," over and over again in a rude and unprofessional manner. Just three straight uphill blocks from a Safeway. I lived in a 3rd story walk up apartment with my boyfriend and two cats, Blitzkrieg and Zippo. I would get groceries just to get paper bags sometimes to change my catliter. So these paper bags had handles and could safely hold groceries carried home often in Carl the fog or straight up rain, and THEN hold 10-15 pounds of soiled cat litter and poop down 3 flights of stairs without so much as tearing, let alone becoming completely structurally unsound. This is my grocery bag upon being picked up once. Once. You can't tell me it's not purposeful that these bags are garbage. It's bad enough Safeway gouges us on grocery prices, but to then disrespect the groceries we do but from them by making sure they drop on the floor immediately because of this shameful excuse for a paper bag.
