How much does cleaning solar panels improve their output?…read more I had my solar panels cleaned recently by @sudandsqueegie. I had them cleaned only a few months earlier by another company, but I recleaned them because two panels were producing lower output and looked obviously dirty. The other panels did not look like they needed cleaning. I was surprised to see that the cleaning improved the output of all the panels from an average of about 340 Wh per panel to about 540 Wh, an increase of about 58%! The first picture is a drone shot of the panels, showing the two panels that were obviously dirty. The first panel picture shows the output of all panels before cleaning, and the second panel picture shows the output after cleaning. The panel output measurements were taken within 1 hour of each other at around 1 pm. It was a partially overcast day, so the output is usually much greater. However, it shows the amount of improvement possible with simple cleaning of the panels, despite them not appearing obviously dirty to the naked eye. It turns out the two panels that looked obviously dirty had cracks in the glass surface, and most of the discoloration was dirt that had seeped underneath the glass coating and could not be removed by cleaning. Surprisingly, not only did the surface cleaning of the two "dirty panels" improve, but it also improved the other panels that did not look like they needed cleaning! The original company that did the cleaning used a brush on a long pole to drip deionized water onto the panels. @sudandsqueegee used a long pole with two rotating brushes, which seemed to be more effective. They were very efficient and professional in their work. I recommend them highly.

I have twenty solar panels…read moreon my home's roof that are just one year old and they were filthy with tons of dust and bird poop. Recent winter storms were just not enough to get them thoroughly clean and producing as much power as possible. Sent a text to Evergreen Solar Clean and other companies to get some quotes. Most other companies did not service my area and the one that did was way out of the ballpark! Evergreen Solar Clean was a lot more competitive with their bid and I decided to make an appointment. Blake was able to get me on their schedule and gave me a three hour time frame. About thirty mins. before my appointment, I received a text that his technician, PJ, was on the way. PJ promptly showed up at my door and after short introductions, started getting all his equipment ready and got to work. What I really loved about Evergreen Solar clean is that they use deionized water that they carry on their trucks and Sola-Tec roller brush cleaners, which are rolling brushes attached to wheels that glide across the solar panels with the deionized water flowing through them. You have to checkout their website to see this in action, it's amazing! PJ got to work and maybe about an hour later, he was all done and my solar panels look like they're brand new! All clean and shiny! I was so impressed with the job that I went ahead and signed up for twice yearly cleanings, just to ensure that my solar panels are producing as much power as possible and to keep them looking clean and shiny on my roof!

The provided the best value and Gilbert, the project manager was able to provide me with an instance quote as he had already pulled the satellite imagery for my house. He was very professional and answered all my initial questions and even provided me with recommendations on underlayment to use, of which he had a sample to provide. During the project the office kept me updated and provided me quickly with answers to my questions. Karen, Briana and the rest of the team were very helpful and highly professional. Huge compliment to Alfredo, my foreman and his team of two workers who did an excellent job in terms of workmanship and overall quality. On top of that Alfredo answered all my questions and was always available to talk to my. As an icing on the cake, I received a call from Rudy, the owner of Roof Masters who called me to check in on the project and see how it was progressing overall and wanted to see if I had any questions or concerns. Additionally he had indicated that he was onsite to make sure the project progressed well. I highly recommend Roof Masters for their outstanding service, professionalism and outstanding workmanship!! He quickly identified the inverter problem, handled the warranty replacement, and had a technician scheduled immediately after. Justin, the technician, was excellent -- friendly, communicative, and informative throughout the process. The inverter was replaced, the old unit removed, and everything was back up and running within a few hours. Pricing was fair compared to competitors, and the overall service was top shelf. From the beginning, I was extremely clear that I would only proceed if the rebate covered the full project cost and that I would not pay any non-refundable deposit. Their representative repeatedly assured me in writing that there were "no upfront fees or deposit required" and agreed to prepare contingency language allowing me to cancel without penalty if the funding was insufficient. After months of follow-ups, delays, and waiting for management to finalize the paperwork, I was suddenly informed that the company had implemented a "new process" requiring a non-refundable $1,000 payment before they would process the application, engineering review, or other preliminary work.

Review Update: After…read moremy initial review, Eric (the sales rep) and Matt (the owner) of Sunline personally reached out to me and was apologetic about the situation. They sent Travis out promptly, who is their electrician where he found that the issue was resolved by replacing a faulty 40-amp breaker that was intermittently providing the necessary voltage, even though measurements initially appear correct. While the breaker issue caused real inconvenience and unexpected costs on my end, the owner was responsive and showed willingness to smooth things over to work toward a resolution. I also want to highlight that the panel upgrade and solar/battery installation itself was clean and well done. The workmanship that Eddie, Manny, Christian and Jamie performed had overall met my expectations, and once the issue was identified, Sunline did step in to correct it. No project is perfect, but how a company responds when problems arise matters a lot. In this case, Sunline's owner and Eric was engaged, responsive, and made a sincere effort to make things right. As an engineer, and after witnessing the symptoms and corrective actions firsthand, I believe the breaker issue was likely a manufacturing defect, and it was unfortunate that it occurred during the holidays. That said, based on how Sunline handled the situation, the overall quality of their work, and the value they offer, I would recommend them and plan to continue using them for future needs.
