We never found relief for our dogs skin issues which they blamed fleas for and recommended we use Bravecto, We had already expressed this med isn't working. We ended in a loop of poor care, and spent a fortune on unnecessary appointments/medication. I have never been so glad to leave a medical practice in my life.

She was beyond patient with all of our many questions. We have a sweet little senior dog with an enlarged heart. He was having difficulty breathing and needed an immediate antibiotic. Magen quickly had the vet call us in a prescription to hold us over until we could get back in to the clinic. Honestly, give this woman a raise. She is an asset to the clinic. The reason I am giving CVC only one star, is because I feel like this vet clinic's performance and professionalism has become very poor since they had left Eugene. In Eugene, the staff was phenomenal in my opinion. They were gentle with my pets, they seemed to be very knowledgeable, educated, and provided me with quality advice, explanations, and instructions. When my pets received tests, we were noticed with the results and any recommendations within a couple of days. In Pleasant Hill, however, we felt rushed and did not receive the same kind of service. I didn't feel like their Vet provided me with the communication and time that I felt my pet and I deserved. My cat felt terribly uncomfortable with her Vet'erinarian's energy, as did I. I'm not sure how qualified she is, because i felt rushed and did not receive the communication I had with the CVC Eugene Veterinarians. In addition, we are at 3 days shy of one month since my cat's U/A. I have called and emailed several times, and we still have not received my cat's results. The majority of the time, my attempts to contact CVC have received no response. I am a retired veterinary technician. I would have been fired if I had forgotten to get back to our clients, or had them wait even a week for their animals test results. Only once have I ever felt such a lack of professionalism from the veterinarians and clinics that I have worked for or those who I have brought my pets to for the past 25 years. And that other one time I had a very poor vet experience, well, that same Veterinarian is working for CVC at this time! I just wish CVC would have never left Eugene. The service and support I received from their Eugene staff was always professional and respectable. And we were always treated very well. It is really a shame that the new clinic in Pleasant Hill doesn't have this same quality service and vibe. It saddens me greatly, and I can tell that my cat misses the old place too.

The vet came in for the exam which consisted of taking his temperature and feeling his stomach, looking at his teeth. His ears or heart wasn't checked at all. Then she left the room. They wanted to do blood work and get him back in for dental work. He did have a broken fang, I figured since I had a dental visit, they would take care of it? Nope, they wanted to see the blood work first, I had to reschedule for the dental. Which I could tell he was in pain already by the way he ate, so now it will be 2 1/2 weeks. They did give me pain meds though. We still don't know the sex, it seems they didn't want to take the time to check. They said they thought he was a female because he is a small cat and he'd be bigger if he was a male. He is a long hair and they didn't want to mess with all his fur to check his actual sex. Then in the morning I called to ask a question for my visit. The phone rang and rang, no one answered. I called again and left a message. No response. I sent an email, plus I called again with no acknowledgement. I told the girl up fron about my calls, she said they were having a lot of calls that morning. That to me is very discouraging. That's their business, we are their customers! We have questions we need answers to. How do they know what we are calling for? How do they pick the calls they answer? That is not professional at all. If that's an example of how much they care, it makes me rather worried. Now I hope they won't take it out on my cat when I take him back in for his dental visit? This is my response, not my cats. I just hope they treat my cat well and do it professionally. I don't want him to be in pain much after his surgery. I did love that the work they did was in the room I was in. I think it made my cat more at ease knowing I was there with him, instead of being taken in another room with people he didn't know. That made me feel very good. In one case, I was even given an article that explained in depth what was going on, which was very helpful. They are caring, prompt and efficient. The only issue I have had concerns their charges. First, the cost of prescribed meds which they sell seems quite high. For example, I obtained some calming cat treats from them for ~$33, only to find later that I could get the same thing from Amazon for ~$24. Secondly, for routine immunizations from WEAH there is a charge for the appointment, an exam, and the vaccine, which adds up to a lot. Consequently, I take my cat to the 1st Ave. clinic for his immunizations for a fraction of the cost.

He took the time to talk me…read morethrough a medical issue with great care, even as I'm sure he's had that same conversation with about 10,000 pet owners over the years. He's very conscientious, knowledgable, and eager to educate pet owners with abundant information and options. (All over the phone--I haven't met him in person, as I explain below.) I'd like to explain the unusual and somewhat imperfect system they have for seeing pets, just so nothing is a surprise for future clients. It's a small clinic seeing a lot of pets, so apparently it takes a long time to get an appointment the regular way. When I called and asked to make an appointment, I got a call back on voicemail saying "we have you booked for tomorrow morning, see you then" without working together to find a time. Since my schedule is difficult, it was sheer luck that I was available that day. When I called back for instructions, I was asked to bring the cat *before 8am* at which point he was put in a cage waiting to be seen. This is how they squeeze in appointments without a multi-week wait, which makes sense; but since that system wasn't clearly explained to me, it came as a bit of a surprise. The vet was able to see the cat 3-4 hours later and we had a very helpful conversation over the phone. Then I got tied down at work and by the time I was available to pick up the cat, he'd been there 5 hours or so. When I got him home, he was desperately hungry--I learned that they don't provide food, just water and litterbox. I also learned that there was a $40 "hospitalization fee" for this method, which was not explained beforehand. (For pricing transparency, the physical exam was $95. I think that's reasonable and the vet is very good. Also re: pricing, it seems like what they charge for prescription food and medicines is comparable to online, which I appreciate. Not much markup. So that's all good.) None of this is really bad, or anything, but I would have really appreciated a bit more advance explanation of the visit system, the fees, of the need for pet owners to bring food, etc. The front desk staff seem nice, but they are somewhat less patient and informative in explaining things than the doctor. It is worth it to have a good vet. And now future clients know that if the office slots you in for one of these morning drop-offs, it will cost $40 and you should bring food. What we received instead was devastating news: Teddy had aggressive lymphomic cancer that had quickly spread throughout his body. Dr. Shelton was the one who gently, respectfully, and clearly delivered the news that no pet parent ever wants to hear. He showed a deep sense of empathy--not just for Teddy, but for us as well. He explained everything with honesty and patience, giving us room to process and ask questions without ever making us feel rushed. From the moment we stepped into the clinic, every staff member made a painful situation just a little more bearable. Our vet tech, Hope, was incredibly gentle and present, offering silent support and care that meant more than she'll ever know.
