If I could give them less that one star I would. From June 1, 2013 to May 31, 2014 Greenhill mis-led their donors on their web page and in a March 2014 donor mailing by stating they were a Four Star Charity Navigator Charity, when in fact, they were THREE stars. We have brought this to the attention of Greenhill's Board asking for an explanation, and we've had no reply. They continue to put to death adoptable/treatable animals, some with rescues wanting to pull them. Some animals have been denied medical care. They have accused a local No Kill group of making death threats against Greenhill staff, but when asked by the media to produce these death threats, there weren't any. It seems that Greenhill's management has some difficulty recognizing the truth. Please adopt from Greenhill! Take two or three if you can! read more

The good about Greenhill Humane animal Society is that they adopt out animals. Period, the end, finish. I even volunteered for a short time with cats, while my best half volun-teered in dogs. After 4months and seeing what I saw GreenHill, at the 1st, ave. sheltor their was a employee their who was a pile of big poop, she felt it was her job to ask me very personal questions when we went. Frankly our personal lives are none her business. Her attitude over shadowed a gentleman employee, that also worked in back, If I remember right he was in charge of taking care of the dogs, very kind, caring human. Both places charge alot to adopt, I would rather spend my $ on top quality food and up to date shots, emergency care if needed, and 6 to 12 month vet care. If it's a breed that is noted for cancer, heart problems or some- thing else serious, then it would be 6 month check-up. Every year we drop off food, and whatever else we $ wise do (blankets, towels, toys-for big & little dogs, don't forget cats, cat stands, collar &leashs, break away collars for cats, FOOD-canned and hard, treats. Your efforts will NEVER BE APPRECIATED, and you will NEVER hear THANK-YOU. I THANK YOU and remember it's for all the animal, even horses, bunnys, cavies, chickens, etc, Greenhill get your heads out of backsides and stop acting like your less than a animal. read more

This place has always been such a pain in the rear to work with. Unless you keep your dog inside at all times or most of the time, they won't let you adopt an animal. I guess they like to promote fat animals. read more

Got the "love of my life" from First Avenue/Greenhill. I found him running in the parking lot where i work. My manager was kind enough to keep him and call the shelter. Nobody could come so they watched him at work and I took him home. I tried to find his owner but he was homeless. I was forced to surrender him temporarily but came to visit him in the shelter every day I could. When the owner wouldn't pay the fees for his past irresponsibility, that big bundle of wiggle was mine. Been 2 years now. TY! read more

I was interested in a particular puppy they had. Called several times and was told various things...final straw was when i called and they were VERY rude and told me to just check the website. Well, I had checked it daily for the last month and this cute little puppy is just sitting there with no status updates! read more

A very good shelter. They seem to take good care of the animals, and even work to rehabilitate those that they can. The grounds are clean and well-kept. read more

May be a good place to adopt but very difficult to work with otherwise. They seem to arbitrarily reject cats, maybe due to overcrowding? Possibly, you basically have to pay to have your cat "adopted?" Not sure, but it seems to be a bit of a "racket" from the donor side. read more

This is specifically about their west 1st location. I have always enjoyed coming here to see the kittens and I even adopted both of my kitties from this location. Everything was great until I realized that each staff person I had encountered was extremely rude to me and my husband that I was appalled when i actually left the building. i had one of the vet/tech girls with long red/orange hair rudely tell me to shut the door if I was going to leave while my husband was trying to open the door for me. Really? She didn't even have the decency to turn around and tell me, she kept her back to me and didn't even look at us while doing so. I then had another employee tell me to shut the cage to the cat beside me if I wasn't looking at it, when it was actually a potential adopter who was leaving the cage open to talk about adopting the cat. I then had a man stare me down in the dog kennel about an hour before closing, as if we were inconveniencing him by being there. Upon leaving we thanked him and he just stood there without even answering. May seem petty but I actually left extremely saddened that this new staff or what they may be, we're so rude that I will never be coming back. Especially for the pale orange/red haired vet/tech to speak to me in such a disgusted tone, I almost went up straight to the counter to ask for her name. Won't be coming back which is sad, but I'd rather go somewhere else if we are such an inconvenience to a staff that can't even provide kind customer service. read more
