He's open to suggestions to improving the living situation of the building. What I miss about living there was the laundry room. Cheaper than the other local laundromats, you go to the basement in your pajamas. This makes life more convenient and I don't have to go out at all! The Stratford allows cats! My cat liked living there too. At times she likes to wander around the hallway. I would highly recommend living there.

It was a few blocks from my work many, many buses on the opposite side of the block, Westlake two blocks away, the SLUT (South Lake Union Trolley), Shopping galore! 3 blocks from Pikes Place and the waterfront, Bed Bath and beyond, City Target, a few malls and Cinerama, an awesomely renovated 1960s theatre used for movie premiers and such. The street itself has many restaurants include 4 from James beard award winning chef Tom Douglas. The Residence manager Nick and staff were great. He would respond to by text, calls, and email for any concern. Friendly, honest and Diligent. I don't know about the Robin dude but Nick is da bomb! Oh and the is a sweet roof top deck with a bbq.

Starting with an un-cleaned unit upon move-in, followed by a leak (that they NEVER actually fixed); along with a flood from maintenance drilling into the sprinkler system then being without hot water from January, continuing through the end of May (when we finally left). We tried communicating with the manager, Mary but were constantly left with issues unresolved. We had a meeting with the regional manager, Christina, who was very helpful in the beginning. However, the more and more issues we had in the unit, the less we heard from her, until she finally stopped responding to us. We spoke to multiple other tenants upon their move-outs, they all had similar experience with management being unhelpful and essentially, unresponsive, unless you threaten to sue them with legal action. The cherry on top of how we were treated at Slate, was when we were finally moving out and Mary's boyfriends truck was parked illegally in the loading zone. When he finally moved his truck, our movers tried to assist him in getting out of the tight squeeze - Her boyfriend ended up verbally harassing the two movers while she just sat in the front seat. Then, 24 hours before we were scheduled to be fully moved out, Mary sent us their move-out checklist. 24 HOURS?! You had over 20 days notice and you decide to give us the list just 24 hours before we told you we'd be out? Slate is in constant violation of everybasic tenants rights. Save yourself a lot of time, energy and money - Do not sign a lease here.

Overall, it's been a good experience but there are so many things that make this place not worth the price tag. Pros: Location- Great spot and walkable to so much. Tenants- good people and high probability of making friends. Young professionals, dog lovers Thick walls: I rarely hear my neighbors -- very, very rare. Aesthetics: the apartments themselves look really nice Washer/dryer: in unit and actually good quality. I've had some awful laundry units in apartments but these are legit and work well. Cons: Break ins: I am not exaggerating when I say tenants are constantly getting their bikes stolen, it's a monthly occurrence at least. (Theres bike storage in the garage for tenants ) Storage in the apartment: it's crazy how much planning did not go into the actual apartment. For example: my pantry is a closet that has zero shelves....my bedroom closet didn't have a full hanger rack when I moved in. Little things that make zero sense. Some kitchens barely have a drawer for silverware. Things that you may not notice while doing a walk thru but notice once you move in. No AC or ventilation: this is common in Seattle, I get it but please pay attention to what direction your apartment faces. I face west and live in a loft. Heat rises. It is miserable hot. It can be 70 degrees outside but 78 inside because of the lack of airflow. Even with an AC unit (these help but you better keep all the shades down and keep it running ALLLL day/night - plus depending on your setup, you may have to move furniture around to use an AC unit) The complex has AC units available to rent ... it isn't even that hot yet and it's already hard to get my bedroom (upstairs) under 72 degrees by 9pm. The complex should offer free AC units with how hot these apartments get. When it's nice/window season, you may not want to open your window because of how loud the road is. Even on the 4th floor, if you leave your balcony door/windows open, you will wake up from traffic/buses/people on 24th and 65th. It's not quiet...at all. Amenities: these have gotten better but still not great compared to what you can get at other places. They have done some work on the rooftop but it's still just fine. No gym, TVs aren't great, etc. The building itself needs new carpet/fresh paint on the walls. Look at the stairwells. Yes, I'm being picky but for the price, it should look better. As a whole, these apartments are fine but overpriced for what they are. You are paying for location and a "good looking" apartment. For the price, they should come with AC units, have more amenities, and updates in the actual building. Management and maintenance are good, I haven't had any issues there. This review isn't meant to bash BPL but give future residents a heads up and an honest expectation of what it's like to live here. I wouldn't choose an East (am sun) or West (pm sun) facing loft apartment. Seriously, too hot. I bet south facing is your best bet (less busy road, no direct sun). Lofts are cute but I'd suggest a flat. Hope this helps!

There is a Safeway on the same block and E Madison is one block away as well as 23rd so it offers major bus lines in all directions. It is far enough away from the fray of downtown to feel peaceful yet be close enough to take a 10-minute Uber or bus to be in the action. Laundy on the property. Easy street parking. When I looked it up on Yelp for the first time I was a bit suspicious it had such high ratings but now I know they're justified. BACKGROUND - I am a Seattle transplant. Just graduated and just moved here fresh out of college. I wanted to live somewhere affordable, convenient, nice and still close enough to where all the fun stuff was. I looked at Cap Hill and the prices were outrageous. So the I landed on NAMU from an ad on Craigslist. LOCATION - around 5-10 minute drive from downtown Seattle and downtown Capitol Hill. Close enough for a short bus ride or a cheap Uber pool. If you check on the walk score it's around high 80s and the crime rate for the area is really low. Generally, it's closer to the suburbs. It's quiet at night because of that but occasionally there will be a siren once a week or people yelling once in a blue moon. But generally, really quiet. CONVENIENCE- I live right next to Safeway and can walk there in under 30 seconds which has saved my life many times. There's also a cute plant shop downstairs if you like plants and a Dominos pizza is opening soon, there's a Vietnamese sandwich place near the Safeway as well. The Safeway is open late which is great. There's also a YMCA a block away if you want to workout nearby! APT AMENITIES - in terms of amenities it is solid given how much rent you are paying. There's a bike rack, and a nice rooftop. None of my packages have EVER been stolen from the lobby and I've see packages left there for days so everyone in the building respects that. You can pay extra for storage and the laundry machines are on the 2nd and 3rd floor, which TAKE CARD. Generally they are full on the weekends but I haven't had an issue waiting long times for laundry. There's no pool, or lounge, trash chute or gym. The only things I wish the room had: an oven, a dishwasher (I just do my dishes by hand), and a closet. But I've adjusted. If you need these things to survive, consider that before you move in or if you have a ton of stuff / furniture / clothes because it likely won't fit. NOISE - Honestly, I'm assuming the insulation is top notch because I've heard my neighbors maybe once. ROOMS - The apartment was made in 2015 or something. I moved in 2017 and was the second tenant ever! The rooms are small, around 250-300sqft but I have enough room for a full-size bed, a queen size futon, a wardrobe hanger, and a small dining table and a bookshelf and no issues. It's a perfect studio for a single person and more than enough room to be comfy. Note there isn't a closet though so you'll have to make do with a buy your own closet thing. I really appreciate the mini fridge as it is honestly big enough for one person and since I live by Safeway I never really needed too much space anyway. The bathrooms are clean and modern and there's a big window too which is really nice in the mornings. LANDLADY / MAINTENANCE - This is what prompted me to write this review. The landlady, Sonya, has been nothing but incredible and responsive. She texts back almost immediately and even helped me once when I locked myself out of my room at midnight, and helped me get a package when I accidentally locked it. She's very thoughtful and kind and honestly I never knew how awesome thanks would be to have a great landlady until I met her! She also schedules maintenance once you report a problem to her. The maintenance guy, Mike, lives in the complex and shows up right on time to help fix your issues and is polite and nice. There was an incident where our hot water heater stopped working for around a day and Sonya immediately notified all the residents on the situation and provided suggestions for other solutions. And she even decorated the front door and lobby with a Christmas tree for the holidays!! Tldr - This is a great place to live if you're moving to Seattle as a single person. The rooms are "small" but modern, clean, and more than enough space for a studio. The facilities are brand new, and the landlady is awesome. The rent is affordable and I've I'm very happy living here and feel safe.

It is probably one of the coolest places I have ever lived. So, why the 1-star review? Here's the deal: If you are planning to BUY a condo here, ignore the star review (in fact, for buyers I would rate it a "5"). However, if you plan to LEASE a unit, think really hard before you do so. The HOA needs to approve every unit to be rented, which means if your lease is up and they don't approve it then you're kicked out. Or, if you have a legitimate reason to terminate your lease early (regardless of what your lease says) it still needs to be approved by the HOA before it can be re-rented, which mean you could be stuck paying rent for several months on an empty unit. (And they don't allow sub-leasing, btw.) The HOA takes zero consideration of the tenant's situation and only considers the "hardship" of the owner of the unit (your landlord), which means you are basically treated as if you don't exist. Trust me, I have first-hand experience with them, and they only look at me as a "name on a piece of paper" instead of a person who could use a little bit of compassion. So to sum it up: If you want to buy a unit, go for it. It's an excellent place to live in Seattle. If you want to rent, however, you may want to look at other nearby apartment complexes, especially if you want to stay longer than your initial lease (min 1 year, max 2 years) or have an unpredictable life that may change without warning.

The gym is fairly large with treadmills, elliptical machines, a row machine, universal gym and free weights. I know the units themselves are very different but my particular unit I really like. High ceilings, open layout with floor to ceiling glass windows with unobstructed views of the Space Needle and Lake Union are spectacular.

The owners, who also manage the property, are a family, and we found communicating with them about things such as repairs, renewal, and general inquiries expedient and effective. We witnessed the owners around the property throughout the year doing maintenance such as painting, insulating pipes before freezes, cleaning shared spaces, and even decorating. Our unit was well insulated, with nice and modern appliances (they replaced our fridge and stove while we lived there). We had common issues (slow drains, loose wall mounts, light bulbs expiring), and all were addressed within a reasonable amount of time. The location has a lot going for it. The building is a short walk from Greenlake, bus lines 45 and 20 for access to Link, and the E line (bus) on Aurora for rapid access to downtown. We found it quite convenient to use public transit for most places we wanted to go, including SEATAC, University of Washington, Capitol Hill, SoDo for sports games, Seattle Center, International district, and more. The intersection of Greenlake and 80th is a bit noisy, especially if your unit faces the intersection, but these are also the units with a view of Greenlake and the Seattle skyline from the patio. We love our apartment and the vibe and aesthetic of it as well. :) The only thing I will advise you of is the area can be a little loud and overwhelming sometimes as there are a lot of homeless individuals and drunk people on the weekends, just an fyi. All depends on how you like to live. Transit access is phenomenal as well with the light rail station across the street and two major bus stops right beside you as well! I love the heights. We lucked out and got an apartment with all new appliances, which was lovely! I recommend checking them out for your future or current housing needs!

Unlike nearby condos, it doesn't really do major advertising - I actually found it while clicking on random buildings on Google Maps! The location is incredible - close to the Space Needle and bars, but just far enough to still enjoy quiet nights. Plus, the prices are VERY competitive compared to other places nearby. Oliver from the front office is incredibly friendly and helpful. I wasn't going to be able to view the available units in person, and he sent me a very well taken, detailed video of the interior. He answered all my questions and really made sure that my moves, both in and out, were extremely smooth. Maintenance was also prompt and always made sure that everything was fixed within 1-2 business days! Now for the apartment itself - it was much larger than any other options nearby, and it was really nice! The unit looked a bit old but clean and functional in the video, but I was wrong... it wasn't old at all! The apartment was MUCH newer, brighter, and more updated than I anticipated - the best kind of surprise. I rarely ever heard my neighbors, always had power, and I especially loved that I had a massive pantry in the kitchen. My balcony faced 4th Ave, which leads directly to the Space Needle. Although I couldn't see the Needle from my windows, I never had to leave my apartment for any parades - they always started at the Seattle Center and went directly on the street below. The amenities it had were really nice - from the clubhouse to the gym. Both were clean, easy to access, and very updated. I especially loved that you didn't need to pay to book the clubhouse for personal events, as it made hosting larger groups for meals a lot easier! I was truly heartbroken to leave Sidney when work relocated me to Texas. It's a wonderful complex, and I highly, HIGHLY recommend!! If I ever move back, you know where I'll be living.

From the first day, Brad had a smile on his face and even gave us recommendations on which unit would be cheaper and had more space. I was very pleased with his service and ended up signing the lease the same day. Brad ended up leaving a couple weeks later but Sara and Jeny provided the same service and hospitality that Brad had given us that first day. Everyone from the management, to the maintenance team knows your name and they're always willing to strike up a conversation. They also gave my dog countless treats whenever I passed the office. It feels like a family here. Jeny and Sara and extremely quick to respond to emails and most requests are completed within 48 hours after submission, and they always follow up on the services to make sure everything was okay. They even deliver packages into the apartment if requested! They also host two parties a year around the holidays at the end of the year and a summer BBQ with amazing food and drinks. Location wise, the Sidney is nestled inside the heart of Belltown with easy access to the Space Needle, Pike Place, Whole Foods, the downtown shopping center, and an array of restaurants and bars. If you're lucky enough to get an apartment facing 4th Ave, you'll be able to watch all of the parades from the comfort of your own home. The apartment unit itself is very well insulated compared to the Fountain Court next door, and you can't hear the neighbors unless they're really loud (ie: shouting, banging pots and pans, etc) because of the condo insulation style. The unit does get a bit warm in the summer but since it is well insulated you do save a lot of money on the heating bill in the winter! I've never had to turn on my heater in the winter. There are occasional noises from the fire department but comes with living in the downtown area. The building itself also offers a club room with FREE PRINTING, kitchen, and a large TV with comfortable seating areas! They also have a small exercise room, hot tub, and outside grill. The office downstairs has free coffee, tea and fresh baked cookies throughout the day. If you have guests coming over they have daily parking passes for $5/day (best parking deal in Seattle!) and even a guest suite that is furnished for $150/night (they give discounts the longer they stay). For the amount they're charging, location, and service this is a really deal for guests coming out of town! You honestly can't go wrong living here!
