Well worth it! Greenleaf's Ryan and Dana designed a space that was attentive to our desired use, they were patient with our changes, and they employed a terrific team who worked together seamlessly. Every crew member was courteous, neat, and hardworking, and the renovation was completed in 2- 1/2 of the estimated 3-4 months. We are extremely pleased with the quality of the work done by all involved, and we now happily make daily use of a previously avoided space. More: I was the naysayer on this project and I was wrong. My husband wanted to renovate our dreary basement to give me more space for all my hobbies. We had finished the space 30 years ago on the (very) cheap: carpeted exercise room, a tiny office, a bathroom with a shower no one used, and a crammed unfinished laundry room that also contained a former coal bin lined with shelving. An unfinished cold storage room behind the office held old paint and garden supplies. The spaces were functional, but they were dingy, worn, uninviting, and, consequently, not often used. The laundry room was kind of creepy. I couldn't imagine that improving our small, low-ceilinged space would justify what remodels cost these days, but Ryan and Dana helped us see the possibilities. While keeping the price down, they created a large office/art/sewing room with two long built-in desks, each with wonderful deep drawers, and made the laundry/utility area more usable by dismantling the coal bin and painting the walls and floor. They upgraded the quality of the entire basement with a beautiful banister, vinyl wood flooring, better lighting, solid wood doors, and lovely bathroom fixtures. AND they added a window in the office for a bit of natural light. What a difference! We actually exercise in the exercise room, and the other spaces are just a delight. Now it feels more like a "lower level" than a basement. Greenleaf transformed our basement into a wonderful extension of our home's living areas. We asked him for an estimate to redo shelving in our library. He showed up in a timely fashion and took measurements. When he asked for our budget, we initially said that we did not know what it should cost, as we assumed there would be significant variability depending on materials used. He offered no more information, so we said $7k, but that we had plenty of leeway, depending on what was proposed. He gave no indication of whether or not this was reasonable, but did say that he would have the designer he works with contact us. Fast forward 2 weeks with no contact, my wife called him to inquire about the designer and estimate. He responded that our budget wasn't high enough, and that it wouldn't be a good fit. If that was the case, he could have told us that when we threw out the $7k. He could have provided some expertise and guidance when we initially said that we didn't know what it should cost. He could have called back or emailed us that he wasn't going to do any work for us. Basically, he could have done many things that are more professional than what he did. read more

After speaking with several companies, Ryan was the first professional I considered hiring. He was timely in his responses, professional and understanding of our limited design abilities and budget. I had Greenleaf Home Services renovate my kitchen. I am completely impressed. Ryan came out and gave us a quote. I actually had quotes from several contractors and found that he was priced reasonably...not too high...but also not the lowest bid either. The best part was his responsiveness. He got his quote to me in a timely manner and when I had questions or concerns during the remodel process...he got back to me right away. As for my kitchen. Things were done very professionally and look fantastic. We even had a hiccup with the plumbing and he took care of it with no problems at all. He brought out several samples of cabinetry and helped us pick out the granite countertops. I wish we used them for our master bedroom. The company I used for that gave me a low price to start and kept adding on things and we ended up way over the original budget with that company (who I will not name) Ryan was honest from the start and didn't jack up the prices later on!! He, the owner, did a great job on the crown molding and at a reasonable price. We had the work done prior to moving in the home. However, once we moved in and wanted a quote to paint the molding and some trim touch up, the quote was almost twice as much as what we paid to have crown molding installed (we bought the molding and were going to have to buy the paint). I felt there was price gouging and wish I had been able to get all the work done while the house was empty and believe my quote would have been a lot more reasonable. read more

I hired Ryan and crew to fix a bathroom floor and sewer pipe before tile was laid down. he quoted me a price to replace the whole floor but then changed his mind to do less work. In the price, he had a materials charge of about $200. When he showed up for work, he then disappeared for an hour.
