I had my doubts to the success of her recovery due to not only her age but also that she has dementia. She had her first PT session on Monday morning which I was surprised and grateful that she was engaged in the OT session but not so much in the PT session. The therapist was great, Ms. Kathy. Ms. Kathy was able to complete simple stand-ups and single steps 9xs. I was excited and felt that this was proof that my mom had a great chance of being somewhat mobile again. The following day my mom's energy and willingness to participate in her sessions was disappointing but nevertheless the therapist persisted with the sessions. On the third day my mom was lethargic and showed behaviors not like her normal self. The OT therapist noticed her behavior and contacted the nurse. My mom was returned to her room. She had a low grade fever and her wbc had spiked. She was sent back to the hospital and was diagnosed with a severe UTI. After a week of antibiotics in the hospital she is ready for discharge. Memorial Manor has declined her request to return there for therapy. The reason, as stated in her letter from Memorial Manor was, "your needs cannot be met at this facility ". I understand my mom comes with roadblocks but when she arrived there the first day I was told by employees that "this is the best rehab center around ". My mom was there a total of five days. The first two days (weekend) there is no therapy sessions. She was diagnosed with a UTI on the fifth day. I don't want to feel that they are responsible for the UTI. I do feel that "the best rehab center around" didn't even give my mom a chance.

My 89 year old Mom was a patient at this facility. She was transferred from Memorial Pembroke in…read morelate January for rehab and we were expecting that to be at least for 3 weeks as was told by the social workers at the main hospital. We began getting discharge notices after the 6th day. She arrived late on a Friday evening so she did not get assessed by anyone upon arrival. On Saturday the PT person asked her if she wanted to do any therapy and of course My mom said no to that as she was tired from being transferred so late the night before. No PT on Sunday and On Monday got her first PT and second on Tuesday. On Wednesday we received her first Discharge order after only getting two days of actual PT. The aides PT and Nursing Staff and respiratory staff were Very good to Her and kept her well fed and very Clean. I cant thank them enough for the attention. Only one Glitch was a Young Flakey Respiratory Tech that walked in unannounced to my mothers room and opened the Curtain around my moms Bed while she was being Changed and Naked and Announcing he was there to do her Respiratory Treatment. I took issue with his Lack of Consideration for her privacy and just told him so and asked him to leave the room. When i went to the in charge Nurse to complain about his actions the Respiratory tech took issue with my complaining about what he did and began approaching me while I was leaning against to Nursing stations Counter and he was saying he didnt like my telling him to leave the room. While he was saying that he approached me even more and now I was feeling cornered and felt his action of approaching me so close was a bit hostile. I asked him three times to back away but he only came forward even more to which I said if he came any closer I was going to punch him. That when he backed off and went around, the nurses station and sat down in a chair. I finished telling the supervisor on duty about what he did in the room while my mother was being changed And then went to my mom's to see if they had finished prepping her for bed at night. Not 10 minutes later a policeman showed up because he called the police and they escorted me out of the building. The next day, when I went to see my mother, I was told I was not allowed in the building or to see her. The management staff, instead of protecting my mother's right to privacy as per the patient bill of rights that is posted on every wall in every room instead chose to defend this employee's actions and prevent me from spending time with my mother. The only time I could spend with her was for an hour each day, and it was outside on the bench beyond the doors of the facility. Management staff there is Rude and Disgusting and don't give a damn about the patient's mental well-being. Patients that have been in a facility like that need to have family members present and they chose to take away the right of my mother to have that available to her. So again, I would say that, for the most part, the whole staff from the nursing, the Techs and the Aides do a wonderful job with these patients, and I cant say enough about them and the treatment they provide to the patients but the upper management there is awful and the Social services personnel are cold and uncaring as well as condescending people! I give the working staff five stars, but the management and that one Respiratory Tech I wrote about get No star in my opinion! Thank you to all the staff that treated my Mother so well. I've done 5 visits here so far…read more I've been seen and treated by both Dr. Mike Surdis and Dr. Cherry. Both do a fantastic job aligning your vertebrae to release pressure that has built up on your nerves. For me, the issue is my neck and lower back. My treatment plan consists of a 40 minute problem area massage with a massage therapist working with the soft tissues in my back and neck to achieve pain relief. The massage is not as thorough as others I've had at other offices. Next, is the quick stretch and about 20 minutes or so of electrotherapy with a therapist. Lastly is the manual adjustment with the doctor. The staff is friendly. Nice seating area with TV's and magazines. They also have complimentary coffee. The office is big with many treatment rooms. At times, you are sharing the room with another patient. I understand that they are a busy practice but the bathroom needs paint and some cleaning. I have been very happy with the latest treatment I received from Dr. Cherry. He always has time to check in on how you feel, how the last treatment worked and to address and discuss any concerns you may have. He is a great listener and has impeccable bedside manner.

Encompass is both a hospital and rehab center. The staff were professional and kind . The food was excellent. The physical therapy helped me to walk. I personally drove her to the facility and provided a 30-minute arrival window, followed by a 10-minute advance notice before we arrived. Despite this, no one was prepared to receive her. When we arrived, there was no staff member to greet us, and it took over 20 minutes for someone to locate a wheelchair. During that entire time, my mother-in-law--an elderly patient--was forced to wait in the car, in the Florida heat, which was completely unacceptable. The care only worsened once she was inside. When my mother-in-law asked a tech nurse for assistance to use the bathroom, she was shockingly told to "go urinate in your diaper." This comment was not only degrading and cruel, but deeply concerning for a healthcare facility that is supposed to care for vulnerable patients with dignity and compassion. I raised these serious concerns directly with the CEO and requested accountability. Although we had a face-to-face meeting, I never received any follow-up, explanation, or response afterward. Based on our experience, I would strongly advise families to place their loved ones elsewhere. The lack of preparation, basic care, and respect shown here is alarming. No one deserves to be treated this way. The only positive is that the rehab technicians were very good.

Physical, occupational and speech therapy worked very hard on getting my wife to talk and start using her body better. She has a long road ahead but is trying very hard. Isis (physical therapy), Lydia (speech therapy) and Jonathan (occupational therapy) are trained specialists in dealing with stroke patients. They all do their job exceptionally well. Jonathan not only displays his skills but also has a spiritual connection with us as well. He is most compassionate and very caring for my wife. He inspires my wife to always do better and she responds to him very well. Always there to do his job but also listens to my wife if she needs help understanding things. An awesome person who truly cares and understands her needs. Wilton Manors is blessed to have a special person like Jonathan. To all the staff.....keep striving to be the best!

Pros: The nurses are amazing…read more The receptionists are all very helpful and friendly. Dad enjoyed some of the food, though he complained every day about the soup being too salty. Cons: Angela Newman-Winsome was very condescending with my father. She asked us what staff member we had spoken to the previous night. I couldn't remember. I asked my Dad who it was, and Angela snapped, "He's not going to know that!" before my dad could answer. She also asked us a question in the hallway about my dad's new medication. She was closest to my dad, but she asked me instead. I work as a Direct Support Professional for adults with special needs. Nothing annoys me more than when people (especially those in the healthcare field) totally disrespect people who have disabilities by assuming what their limitations are instead of addressing the individual first in a respectful manner and giving them a chance to answer. Angela may need some additional training in this area. A young man in housekeeping grabbed paper towels from the dispenser in my Dad's room, went to the toilet and wiped down something in there and then wiped the sink, faucet handles, and soap dispenser. I went to the nursing station and got disinfectant wipes and wiped down all the surfaces he had wiped with the dirty paper towel. I went out to the nurses station and got disinfecting wipes to clean up after him. My dad was not supposed to walk at all. His wheelchair (a very basic wheelchair) did not fit in the bathroom, so he had to stand and walk to get to the toilet. The doctor who referred my father to the nursing home told him he would go home, because he shouldn't do the physical therapy yet. Wilton Manors kept delaying his release. Every day, they told him he could see the doctor the next day and be released, but then he would never see the doctor. I told Angela Newman-Winsome that this was starting to feel like insurance fraud. I finally called my dad's insurance company to get him released. His insurance company called the nursing home and got him released. So, if they try to pull that same nonsense with your loved one, you might want to call their insurance company.

It did not feel like a dedicated, patient-focused recovery environment. Instead, it felt more like therapy going through the motions to check boxes. I was never tested to assess how far or how much weight I could handle, and there did not appear to be a structured recovery plan tailored to me. The approach felt more like, "Let's see what we can do next," rather than having a clear progression strategy. When you complete an exercise, you are expected to wave and wait for someone to come over and suggest the next activity in order to fill the hour. My second visit was even more hands-off. No one stayed with me at the stations to ensure I was performing the exercises correctly or to make adjustments as needed. Perhaps those who rated this location five stars are either receiving more direct attention or are new to physical therapy and therefore may not recognize the lack of individualized plans .

There's a very 21st century check in kiosk that has very cool technology ( an AI program recognizes that you are nodding yes to answer or spells out what you said...sort of like being checked in by Siri). The main reception is very businesslike. The care staff is also uniformly friendly. You can just tell from just about everything they do, that most enjoy what they do and genuinely care about getting good outcomes for patients. My friend says the food is quite good, especially by hospital / healthcare commissary standards. The design layout is also well done, with almost every room and hallway getting sunlight, including a large central courtyard. Signage is easy and clear. The most impressive and surprising thing was how fast everything fell into place, and the organization. Within 15 minutes of my friend's first day arrival a fellow named Sam (who's sort of the case manager / concierge) came by to introduce himself, followed by other staffers pretty quickly.

I'm so grateful for the close proximity to my house and bonus- it's located across the street from a pharmacy!
