I am a brand new customer to greenlight. I have had the service for 1 month. While away on vacation, my ring service went down and I was unable to monitor my house all because I had lost internet connection. When I got home, I immediately called greenlight and went through trouble shooting with them. They stated they could see low light disturbance on the line for about 1 week and it was a problem outside. The technician came out the next day and stated it was a connection issue on the line that is rare and he only sees it once or twice a year. I asked for credit on my bill since it is a brand new service and obviously a problem on their end! They replied they don't give credit for problems outside the house. I have a big problem with that. Your product, your service, your reputation. I would think they would back their product that's one month old and keep a happy customer but they didn't care. read more

Yes most times the speed is fast but sometimes it does lag, oh and forget it if your service doesn't work between 8pm and 8am because they don't take calls and don't fix anything so you're stuck with no internet all the night apparently read more

ABSOLUTELY MISERABLE. I signed up August 2. This is October 14 and still not connected. Now, after all this time, they tell me I have to wait until someone moves or disconnects before they can connect me. When is that? They have no idea. A week, a year? Obviously over 2 months. What do they think I've been doing these 2 months. Why didn't they tell me how long it would take to begin with. The person you get on the phone is the only person they will let you talk to. There is no supervisor or anyone in charge that they will allow communication with. It's just a constant runaround. How does this company stay in business? I've used Greenlight wireless for about 4 years, never had a problem. WFH service was initially a little slow but it seems to have gotten a lot better. there was one short lived outage when i was useing them in Lawrenceville, then moved to Friendship Ave and have had no problems. they have great customer service and response time. would highly recommend! read more

I have been a Greenlight customer for 2 years. Beyond the initial miscommunication of having to wait 4-6 weeks for installation, and needing to purchase my own wifi router. The actual speeds and service are no different than Time Warner/Spectrum. Today I reached out to have my service suspended as we are in a Mandatory Covid Shut Down and I have $0 in income (no unemployment, and no financial aid from Federal or State Governments) so I don't have the money to keep internet. I had planned on remaining a Greenlight customer when I am able to return to work, so I was hoping to retain my modem. I was informed it is a $25 fee to suspend my service and hold on to my modem. I have $0 in income coming in, I don't have the finances to pay $25 to remain a Greenlight customer when my income returns. So at the end of my current billing cycle I will cancel my service, risk my life taking a public bus (if they are still running) to return a crappy little box so I don't get charged $100 a don't have. Great way to be of support to your community in a time of health and financial crisis Greenlight. read more

I don't have their service yet so I can't form an opinion on that. The only issue (if you want to call it that) I have is their inability to provide a straight answer that doesn't contradict the previous one. They are only going to wire a portion of the west side and they did my street 2 months ago and ran cable under the street around that time as well. One of the new outlets here in Buffalo ran an article about Cheektowaga being fully connected as well as Buffalo's west side but according to the sales rep I spoke to yesterday it'll be weeks, possibly as many as 10 or more! But she didn't really know and said to keep an eye out for an email from them telling me they're ready to schedule the set up. Meanwhile I'll just keep paying Spectrum $90 a month JUST for internet. read more

Greenlight doesn't seem to want me as a customer. I'm lucky enough to be in one of Greenlight's existing supported neighborhoods in Pittsford. I put down a deposit in mid-June so that service would be up and running for my move-in in August. After hearing nothing from Greenlight for several weeks, I called and was told that installations are 3-5 weeks after the deposit. Now it's been 10 weeks. My calls to Greenlight always end with "We'll have someone call you within an hour" and then I never get a call back. Instead, I sometimes get vague emails that describe the installation process but never give any indication if or when the installation will actually take place. This morning, I called Greenlight and told them that if they can't give me an ETA, I'll have to reluctantly go with Charter. They said they would absolutely call me back within an hour. That was 6 hours ago. Update: In frustration, I paid Greenlight a visit and politely asked for an ETA. As I waited in the lobby, I could hear them debating who would have to go talk to the customer. Someone came out and told me that my install would be started the next day (what a coincidence!) and finished this week. I call today to find out exactly when they're finishing. I received an email back saying that the install was delayed because they were waiting for my permission to tear up my driveway. Not only did they never tell me about this, but there's no way I'm tearing up my driveway. Update 2: After all that, I did finally get installed and without harm to the driveway. Since then, Greenlight has been okay. A few outages here and there, without much communication about the status. I'm getting more like 700mbps, not 1gbps, but it's fine for my needs. If you can get it in your area, it's probably far better than alternatives. read more

We've had Greenlight for about 2 years. The outages are more frequent than Spectrum ever was, but the speeds are definitely better. We pay for the 750 Mbps up and down package. My problem isn't with the product as much as it is with the customer service. Actually the first thing I will mention is a major major plus. On July 3 we lost internet connection due to the fact that their cables were damaged somehow (which is easy because they're above ground and weaved between tree branches). We reported the problem that afternoon (which you have to do online ironically because their phone service is subpar), and the next morning on July 4 a service person was at our doorstep and fixed the problem. The promptness definitely gets an A++. There was absolutely 0 communication back to us after we submitted the help ticket however. Not a word back to us. On the morning the service person was just knocking on the door. If no one was home I don't know what their plan was. I really expect better communication and a more robust reporting system where we can call them with better service. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. Our neighborhood was excited to hear that Greenlight was going to activate our service district, and most of the homes had indicated to Greenlight that we wanted to switch to them. We were getting updates and emails that the company expected to begin installations soon. I purchased new equipment to meet their recommendation for connectivity. After several months, we were still waiting. We were hearing from the company that they were waiting for approvals from the town government. This dragged on for a year. Finally, we heard earlier this summer that although all the streets around us were going to begin installations, our street of almost 200 houses (most of whom had already signed up to switch to them) would not be getting service. The company decided it was not in their financial interest to give us service. We are now stuck with Spectrum, who I am sure will be ready to jack up our service price based on Greenlight's decision. read more

Don't waste your money. Service drops daily. Technicians are nice, but check the same wires, modem each time they are called out. Knowing that the problem is NOT inside the home. Greenlight internet dug up my front lawn to install their cable. After they filled in the trench they created they replanted the grass however there was a twenty foot by three foot section of lawn were the grass did not grow and was bare. I called their customer service and after a while they sent someone out to replant the bare spot. That effort to reseed the lawn was not successful and the grass did not grow. I called back in April to let them know that the bare spot still needed to be replanted. Between April and July I called a total of four times and talked to four different customer service representatives to let them know that I was still waiting for them to reseed and restore my lawn. Each time I was given apologies and promises that my lawn would be fixed. Tired of seeing this bare spot in my lawn all summer I finally called and told them don't bother sending anyone I will go thru the time and expense to repair my lawn myself which I did do. 1st invoice was emailed the same exact day they took it out of my account after being a customer for a month. I expected a $50 bill and got a $207 bill. $100 install fee which I was lead to believe had been waived, $50 last month, and $50 for the next month because they bill a month in advance. What type of company sends the bill the exact same day it is due? The only reason I keep them is because of the speeds. You have no choice but to go with the lesser of the 2 evils available in our area. They had a month to get me an invoice and sent it the day it was due instead. So I've had it for a year now. Had to call customer service twice for questions, not service issues. Have been answered in a few rings quickly and correctly answered my questions. Have never had a lapse in service in fact I'm getting a bit more speed than I pay for, with Spectrum the day I called to cancel I did a speed test pay for 100 was getting 80... hooked up Greenlight and immediately was getting 110-115(paying for 100). What people don't realize from reading the reviews is, Greenlight is a facilitator they do all the paperwork and logistics not the hook-up its a third party company that does that. So hookup appointments are out of their control. Also I guess people don't realize how much red tape they have to cut thru to get this installed. They have to get approvals from the Villages/towns to run lines, in they have to go thru someone's yard or onto a pole in someone's yard they have to get clearance's and easements. It's not just run it thru the same cable lines like spectrum. Green light is all Fiber Optic so it has to be run to your area then your street then your house. Unfortunately if you're they only one on the street signed up you're not getting it. Spread the word get your neighbors on board then you'll see it. Lastly, They are a young company working out the kinks, and they were just purchased, so they are going thru another transition. Give them some a bit of slack and patiently wait, I know it can be frustrating, but once hooked up you will be in love! Customer Service is awful. I paid my $100 fee 5 days before moving into my new apt hoping that it might be quick and easy. 3 friends recommended this to me. My customer service experience with Greenlight was exceptional. I called Friday morning to ask about how quickly I could have internet installed in my new apartment. Based on my experience on the phone I immediately went online to set up an account. That afternoon I called back and spoke with a different gentleman. He went out of his way on a late Friday afternoon to have someone sent to the apartment by Monday for the installation. To my pleasant surprise, I received an updated (text message appointment) communication letting me know a technician could actually come on Saturday morning first thing at 9:00 am. Forgive me, I think the technician's name was Jared, but he was very professional. He was early to the appointment; he communicated any updates during the installation and he did everything for me. I did not have to lift a finger. I felt comfortable (as a young female) having him enter my apartment for the installation, because of his professionalism. You are hiring the right people. I just moved into a brand new apartment that's supposed to include Greenlight internet. Greenlight was supposed to set up the internet the week of 9/1, then they said it'll be another 2 weeks because they "ran out of supplies". It's the end of those 2 weeks and no update from them. This is a customer service review: I just signed up to be a Greenlight Network customer. and since I'm not installed yet, I can't speak on network service (yet)...But, after I submitted my request to become a customer, I found myself with some additional questions. I sent in an email, and the following day was contacted by phone by one of the customer service reps. The woman I spoke with was SO helpful and informational. She assured me that my information was received and even gave me an estimated time when she thought installation would occur, being very honest that its their busy time, so it will be a longer wait. Had a small billing issue that was resolved early on. Had them for about a year and a few months. I've had one service interruption that was resolved in less than 24 hours. Was a rodent that chewed the wire on the street. My only complaint if you can call it that is trying to call for questions or service. Seems they are understaffed. But once they call back they are really good and professional. Very customer service minded. Also fastest most stable connection I've had in Rochester for the cheapest price. I've had spectrum and frontier and neither can beat the speed or quality with out upgrading the service they currently have. Greenlight is the best option for high speed service in Rochester. Customer service is important to me, however, and I feel these reviews relating to customer service are right on target. I couldn't seem to find a phone number to call, I had some questions. I wrote the questions in an email and all I got were email replies that came no where close to addressing my questions. They kept wanting me to fill in an on-line form with my information - and a credit card number! - when the service is not yet in my area and, as stated, did not even answer my questions. I have had minor issues in the past but I've afforded them the benefit of the doubt despite loss of service numerous times. I'm currently out of service and have left numerous messages, opened a ticket, and called continually hoping to get my service issue resolved. I was told by one of the owners during my installation that I would always receive better service than the larger companies for a better price. Unfortunately that's become the furthest thing from the truth. I'm extremely disappointed in the lack of customer of service. I was told last time that I was unable to receive a credit for the duration without service because their margins don't allow for it. Would probably be great, if they had any interest in actually providing service to the people that want it. All I can go on is the 2 and a half months I never received service (was told I was in an area that would take 4-6 weeks to hook up) and the non responsive customer service. I've requested they cancel my request for service and refund the $10 deposit I placed, still no aknowledgement from them that I will even get my money back. Signing up for Spectrum today reluctantly, but at least I'll have internet access by the evening. Internet works great but the customer service is the worst iv ever experienced. Any time you call them you get sent to a call center unaffiliated with the company that cannot help you in any way. All they do is take your name, number, address and tell you someone will get back to you within 24-48 hours. If you actually get a call back you better pick up the phone because if you miss the call you have to start the whole process over again. No one ever leaves a voicemail with a call back number. I don't think I would ever use this company again because the customer service is that bad. Its hard to believe that dealing with a company like Spectrum would be easier than this one. read more

My Greenlight Service was installed today. The two gentleman who did the work were very professional al, polite and went out of their way to make sure that everything was hooked up to our satisfaction. We were also discussing the pandemic and I got to here how responsible this company is and how week the take care of their employees when they are ill. Not only am THRILLED to be spending half as much for twice the service, but I always appreciate supporting a business with a culture that supports their community's a their employees. Our installer said he was proud of his job and the work he did and that all his team mates felt the same. I was blown away by this. So, thanks Greenlight! read more

Update: I'm upgrading my review to two stars as it's been a while and there hasn't been any issues since then. It doesn't change the fact that their customer service was terrible, but I feel I should be equitable too. If I would give 0 stars, I would. Their prices and their speeds are enticing, but their customer "service" is abysmal. I was told that the installation fee would be rolled into the first few payments, so I expected those to be higher. Keep in mind, they don't send you any sort of detailed bill, just an email letting you know how much you've been charged. The high payments continued, however and so I logged on to try and get an idea of what was going on. It seemed like I was paying too much, even with the installation fee rolled in. After I logged on, I found out that they have been charging me $100 per month for their most expensive package even though I signed up for their $50 per month package (the cheapest one they offer). I called their billing department to rectify the situation (at this point I had overpaid by $100 when you factor in the installation fee was apparently waived with the higher package option), but they were not helpful at all. They said they would change my package down to the $50 per month one (the one I signed up for from the beginning), but they were unwilling to reimburse me for the amount that I had been overcharged with their reasoning being "I had been given access to the higher speeds." Keep in mind, the whole purpose of me switching to Greenlight Networks was that I'd save around $5 per month over Spectrum. I'm a pretty basic internet user and have never needed the fastest speeds and certainly would never have chosen their most expensive package. I've never dealt with such terrible customer service and an unwillingness by a company to make things right. STAY AWAY from this company! read more

Srrvice is awful. It is extremely difficult to get a technician on the phone. My bank keeps better hours than Greenlight support. The website is not much better. Difficult to access and response is terrible. The internet speed itself is good, However when there are problems, and you will lose internet service periodically, the poor customer service really destroys any sense of satisfaction that you went to the trouble to get a fiber optic ISP. read more

At this point they have expanded to every street surrounding my neighborhood except ours. They used to be great. I never had issues. However, over the last two months my internet has either gone down due to maintenance or like tonight. They try to claim it's my wifi router, which it is not. I always have several routers available and updated. Basically, the link goes down and I can't receive and IP address. Just tonight, I have replaced my router and both can't receive and IP address to their network. This wouldn't be an issue but I work from home at night, which is the time this seems to always go down. Please, avoid the frustration and don't use Greenlight networks. This company is absolutely awful what they do is pretty much scam a person into paying $100 for an installation fee then they give you a cheap crappy modem they make you buy your own router and then even if you buy the best router after you have service with them they will continue to tell you that it's never their fault it's never their equipment and it's the routers equipment even if the router that you purchased has a full warranty from Best Buy on it which mine does it's still my problem not there this company is absolutely awful the service is slow a cuts out all the time I can't believe I left Spectrum we are actually in the process of going back to Spectrum biggest mistake ever total f****** waste of money. read more

I put a $10 deposit back in March, and since my neighborhood was listed as 100% completion, I was under the impression that service would be available within the month. It is now almost December, and there is no tangible progress towards establishing an installation date. I wrote to them last month, and their response was that they were not able to provide an estimate for when service is available. Green(DIM)light is a good service but they are lacking in any form of being consumer centric. I don't know if they are hiring former cable company employees but they certainly lack in customer service and that is not a good way to start a new venture. Impossible to get anyone on a phone, to call you back or to respond to an email that address our concerns, not a generic response about setting up Wi-Fi because it is our responsibility when all we have been asking for is our account number. We are seeking our account number because it is the only way to check our billing. We have requested on several occasions that it is provided to us. We are told that if we register online, we can get that information we need. YOU CAN NOT REGISTER ONLINE WITHOUT YOUR ACCOUNT NUMBER! Why do I have that knowledge but no one at green(DIM)light does? Endless, mindless and more than irritating and the lack of providing consumers their account information more than suspect.
